Pros and cons to both players in dynasty leagues -- which horse are you picking?

Stacy

Pros - functioned admirably as a workhorse last year; can catch the ball, run between the tackles, execute at the goalline; Compiled his numbers last year in 12 games (only had 9 snaps and 1 carry through the first 4 weeks) -- performed as a back-end RB1 in PPG during his starting stretch

Cons - Tre Mason brought in as "change of pace" according to the team, but could take the reins, poor efficiency metrics from last season (are they adequately explained by Clemens as QB and the patchwork OL?)

Morris

Pros - Awesome as a pure runner (4.7 YPC average in first two years), MVP of his team's offense according to other offensive players, new passing game weapons could open up defenses

Cons - Has previously not caught the ball and the new offense throws to RBs frequently, leading to a potential loss of PT to a competent third down back; concerns his role will be determined by game flow

Give me Morris. He's shown so far he is more than capable of being an RB1. The Rams just drafted Tre Mason, so that has to worry Stacy owners both short and long-term. Morris is clearly the guy in Washington.

JFS, Thanks for starting this thread. If after a couple days it looks like Morris is convincingly winning this poll, would you mind starting a Morris vs. Doug Martin poll/thread discussion?

This is actually a really good question. I'll get to it in a second, but after seeing the results I'm reminded of how silly it is that people think PPR makes such a huge difference. I like both of these players, but chances are there will be enough gap between the two of them in 3 years that whichever one is a better player is going to be the best choice regardless of format. People act like PPR is a total game changer, but it's not. They let it change their draft strategy so much, but what's important is just hitting on your picks. If you think Morris is better than Stacy, don't let a 20 reception delta scare you off of him. It's just silly.

As for the poll, that is a tough question. Stacy weathered an absolutely putrid offense in the toughest defensive division, yet people blast him for his 3.9 ypc and for getting tackled almost immediately after catching dump offs from Clemens. They think comparing YPR from a guy catching dump offs to a guy running routes downfield is a fair comparison. I think a healthy, mediocre QB and improved offensive line will work wonders for him, thus I expect him to put up around 4.4 ypc this year, so I think he's a great dynasty play. Sorry, I'm just not that worried about a 3rd round pick unseating him. I know he was a 5th, but he's already proven NFL starter ability. Most 3rd round picks don't have NFL starter ability.

Morris, however, has two full years of experience and has been really good. People discount him because his second year was such a drop off from his first, but his second year was still very solid. And from what I've read, he's working on his pass catching, so there's hope he'll improve. Hell, Shonn Greene once caught 30 passes after many people said he'd never crack 10.

I really like both players, but I voted for Morris because he's more of a sure thing after two very successful NFL seasons. Really hard to bet against a guy with over 600 carries @ 4.7 ypc. He is almost 2.5 years older than Stacy, so that makes it tough. This was a very difficult choice.
