Zack Greinke (1 Viewer)

My jaws on the floor.

jesus christ on a bicycle he is absolutely filthy.

last year, Cliff Lee went 5-0 with a 0.96 ERA, .56 WHIP, and 32/2 K/BB ratio in April.

so far this year, Zach Greinke has gone 4-0 with a 0.00 ERA, .86 WHIP, and 36/6 K/BB ratio in April.

Baseball America report from 2/04.

I remember watching this kid pitch in the Futures Game in 2003, at age 19. He reminded me of vintage Maddux and Hershiser. Effortless, pinpoint location. I've drafted him every year that i could.

He reminds me of this poem:

His art is eccentricity, his aim

How not to hit the mark he seems to aim at,

His passion how to avoid the obvious,

His technique how to vary the avoidance.

The others throw to be comprehended. He

Throws to be a moment misunderstood.

Yet not too much. Not errant, arrant, wild,

But every seeming aberration willed.

Not to, yet still, still to communicate

Making the batter understand too late.

The only thing that can stop him is his head. If he is over his confidence issues/whatver caused him to go MIA in 2006, the sky is the limit. He will probably win a handful of Cy Young awards over the next ten years if KC can put a respectable team behind him.

Social Anxiety Disorder can be pretty crippling but it seems as though he's gotten past that. The problem is that it can be set off by adversity, so if he hits a few bumps in the road, one never knows if it will set in again. I'm rooting for the kid, even though I don't own him on any of my teams.
