Video games...what ya playing? And what are you looking forward to? (6 Viewers)

Just got a notification that Watch Dogs Legion is being delayed?  Also saw that it's going to be released on PS5, too?  Makes me a little worried about buying it for the current generation console.

When they announced all of the stuff it was going to be able to do, I remember saying that by launch, there was no way they could deliver on their promises.  I think we're starting to see that happen.

Does anyone else have more detail on the delay or such?  I'm at work and didn't really have time to dig too much into the specifics of it.

PS4 couch co-op games for families.  What do you like?  I like to get 1 or 2 for Christmas and we play the heck out of them.  Have 4 controllers and 5-6 people, so 4 would be good.  We have Rocket League, Overcooked and Trackmania Turbo that are popular.  Already have Diablo 3 but that is only popular with a few.  Love Borderlands on PC but not sure it would be what we are looking for.  Have also played pretty much all of the LEGO games.

I do the same, looking for more.  Wish there were.  Love Overcooked 2, until it gets way difficult.  Lego games are all fun.  Don't know of many more couch co-op.

It is only 2 players, but don't starve together is pretty fun.

Trine? Is a 3 player one. Rayman has ?? players?

Trine is awesome, but is it at the same time?  When I have played it on PC you switch characters.  No idea on Rayman.

Other ones I have looked at - Helldivers, Magicka (played this a ton on PC but it has a steeper learning curve)

Just verified that trine is 3 player coop on PS4.

Another great game for 4 people split screen is ultimate chicken horse.

If you are good at platformers it would be best described as a 4 player competitive Celeste.

People not so good at platformers can play it as well. Although a big gap in skill level might not be fun.

The Outer Worlds is pretty awesome if you are looking for a Fallout clone.  It's very frankly superior to FO3 and FO4.  It's hard to compare it to New Vegas since this game is so much more linear but also mostly bug-free.  If Bethesda is working on an Elder Scrolls game at the moment (which I assume they are), I hope they're bringing a major rebuild to the table, because TOW really undresses the Bethesda titles in these series.
does that mean there aren't a lot of side quests?

No one has any thoughts on this?
there are a ton of games available. it seems like for someone who likes to play a lot of games at once, or switches to new games frequently, it might be pretty cool because 10 bucks a month isn't too steep. and it's not just multiplayer online stuff, they have single player, RPG, that kinda stuff too.

for someone who like to play one game at a time, or doesn't have a lot of time to play, I'm not sure it makes sense unless 10 bucks a month isn't a big deal. I'm sure disk space would also become an issue once you start piling up the games, unless you can truly play connected without downloading anything.

There are side quests.  It's just that you get funneled from Area A to Area B to Area C etc., and each of those areas is self-contained.  It's not a big sprawling open world like Fallout or Skyrim, and at least so far I haven't encountered any side quests that would cause me to go back and reexplore places I've been before.  I don't think you're going to accidentally stumble upon an optional three-level dungeon while just wandering around.

"Curated" is probably the right word to describe the game structure.

Losing interest in my PS4, need something that will grab me. Been watching some online Youtube reviews from IGN and am considering three newer releases (and maybe an older 4th). What would y'all choose between

Outer Worlds
Borderlands 3
Days Gone
Metro Exodus

Outer Worlds is probably out front, but I really enjoyed the Metro games previously, which is why I still am thinking about that one. But I'd like opinions from folks actually playing these various titles.

There are a few for each planet/spaceship berth (almost)

You need a separate nav key to go to each spaceship berth (some planets/moons have more than one). You get these as you progress the main quest, that's how it's more linear

Days Gone and Outer Worlds are very good. I liked them in the listed order

Blizzard allowed some of the streamers to play Diablo 4 extended demo.   I watched a bunch of this play and I was left kind of meh.  I mean I am going to play the hell out of D4 when it is available but there was not much to the demo to be honest.  If I had to guess, it feels almost 12-18 months away from being released.

You could almost hear the glee from GGG's side when they congratulated Blizzard on the D4 announcement.  I think GGG knows they have a chance to blow everyone away with Path of Exile 4.0 announcement coming up at ExileCon soon.

I think it’s still years away

i wasn’t wowed but I’ll still play it.

What am I supposed to be seeing here that is taking this so long to develop?
I think that was kind of the point.  After the disaster of last years Blizzcon, it feels like they finally realized they have to start developing Diablo 4.  I don't know when they officially started but the demo is pretty basic so it can't have been too long.

They must have about 14-18 more months of significant development before they can release with anything even close to resembling a finished game.   And that clock might be even further if GGG's plans for Path of Exile 4.0 are bigger than expected.

Picked it up last night, pretty good. Taking a bit to figure out my sensitivity, but I’ll catch on soon. I played one game where you acquire the detonator, like SnD but with revives. I enjoyed that.
Got to spend a few hours on this, lot of fun so far. It’s prob the most I’ve enjoyed a CoD game since Blops2.  They’ve slowed things down a bit which I appreciate and the maps are pretty enjoyable (except Piccadilly).  My only problem is the footsteps are insanely loud.

I finished up The Outer Worlds -- overall game length is just about perfect.  It doesn't overstay its welcome and keeps things moving along at a nice pace.

My one complaint, and honestly it's a pretty big complaint, is that the game becomes trivially easy by the time you're about halfway through.  Combat is extremely easy, and it also becomes very easy to pass nearly all speech checks, lockpicks, etc.  There's really no point in replaying it because you'll just steamroll it again regardless of your character build.  That part of the game was a disappointment.

Still a very good kick-off for a new IP though.  I'll be a little jealous if this becomes a Microsoft exclusive in the future, which is what figures to happen.

I’m not sure if it’s been talked about in here because I’ve actually been busy at work. Stupid job is cutting into my screwing around time. Pissing me off.

But has anyone played Death Stranding? Heard incredibly mixed reviews. Just wondering what the gameplay was like.

I haven't played this and I'm in the same boat as you.  Honestly, it looks incredibly dumb, but I am open to somebody persuading me otherwise.  At best this is probably a "buy at half off" game just due to the general weirdness and high likelihood of putting it down after two hours.

I watched some videos and read some reviews. It became a hard no for me. When I have to use the controller to keep my balance... no.

It said violence is also discouraged.

What's weird were the reviews I read.  One said something like "a game doesn't have to be good to be great."  Wait. What?    Another one said it was their favorite game ever although during the first 8 hours of gameplay they thought about giving up on it because it was so boring.

I mean, these reviews don't make any sense.  But they do intrigue me.  I think IK might be right: Might have to buy this when it gets to $29.

Put me in this camp. After watching reviews it looks like one of the worst ideas for a game that I've ever seen. You're delivering packages in a boring and barren landscape. Its like they figured out the single worst part of every role playing game ever made and designed a game around it.

But while it sounds incredibly dumb, it looks incredibly cool.  Which is why I might eventually have to give it a try.

All that's missing is the inclusion of a defenseless NPC who you have to escort on every mission.

I'm about halfway through and struggling to keep interested (and these are my favorite types of games).  I'm tired of scavenging through every little box to find a half-dozen bullets.  So many of the layouts are just Fallout with a new coat of paint and there's virtually no variety in the enemies you face. The highlights are the humor and the background colors - exceptional.

I'm playing it, in episode 3 now.

Like: Visually stunning, story is really interesting (so far, have heard that it drags later), the sort-of-online-but-not aspect, so far I'm not bored with the delivery aspect of missions as each one links a new area and usually adds a skill, feature or weapon.  Also like having a 3D printer that can make roads or bridges wherever I like, resources permitting.  Love the little scanner thing that you have that can survey the landscape for terrain, resources, and enemies all at once.

Dislike: Some of it seems weird for the sake of weirdness (grenades are made out of your own blood and excrement? wtf), I can't get over the stupidity of characters' names (e.g. Die-hard Man, Heartman, Deadman? give me a break; the other porter you interact with works for a company called Fragile, so what's her name? Literally "Fragile"), combat too simple and easy - I've only died once and it was because I didn't know I could climb up on something and attack from above.

Those names sound like they’re from some unlicensed discount Japanese NES title where they tried to save money by not hiring a translator

In most people's opinion his games tend to be technically impressive, but REALLY weird.
Very accurate.  His least weird game is metal Gear solid. Metal Gear solid 2 he kind of went off the rails a bit.

Yeah, there's roughly a 92 percent chance that kojima bottles his own farts for later enjoyment
I counted during the intro credits and his name shows up 5 times.  Like -
