I'll just assume it is some kind of joke related to your personal lemon parties then. That works fine.
OK, OK.  There is/was a porn video about a "lemon stealing whore".  It became notorious basically because the premise was hilarious.  IIRC a couple is hanging out at home and they catch a chick stealing lemons from a tree in their backyard.  Of course they must "punish" her.   It has become an oft cited joke around the internets.

You sure you're not thinking about Lemon Party?

Just got off the phone with my lawyer in our case vs. GEICO. Turns out he knows you. It only came up because I mentioned that we were having some issues with our remodel and he was asking me about the situation. I told him we weren't close to something we would sue over, but if I ever was I have a friend who sues contractors for a living. He asked who it was and I told him. Hope that doesn't violate some kind of sacred trust.

Nope.  I have a pretty good reputation in the industry as one of the guys you'd want if you need  to sue a contractor.

This is riveting stuff. I am so glad I asked. Tell me more.

Thanks.

Also is that Mccormick area good to stay by or should I look to stay elsewhere?
Not really within walking distance of anything that would be of interest. When it comes to North or South addresses, you want to be as close to 0 as possible. Anything past 900 South or 1200 N is probably going to be a bit far.

South addresses would be closer to Museum Campus (Shedd Aquarium, Alder Planetarium, Field Museum), the Edifice of Shame and McCormick Place

North addresses would be closer to Navy Pier, high traffic shopping area.

Probably not walking distance, but it's close. Quick Uber / cab ride

Chicago Children's Museum
Thanks.

Not a ton in the area of where that hotel is. I'd stay north of there. Loop or downtown. Both of those locations should make it easier for them to walk places for shopping. But likely need an Uber/Cab to get to the museums or the Pier.

Why are you suing Gieco again?
We aren't technically suing Geico. Somebody who was insured by Geico hit my wife's car when it was parked. They managed to do enough damage that the car should have ended up being declared a total loss, but it wasn't for some odd reason. They spent almost $17K fixing it and it is now as good as new, except that we suffered significant diminished value as a result. The car was only 2 years old when it happened and could have been traded in at a pretty high value because it would have qualified for the certified pre-owned program. After a major rebuild, it doesn't qualify for that any more and is now worth about $10-12K less as a result. When we presented Geico with a claim for diminished value backed up by an appraisal and other supporting information they offered us about half of that amount. We went back and forth but they didn't come up much.

So I hired a lawyer who was willing to work on an hourly rate without any contingency to sue Geico's insured. It won't go to trial. They will either settle or it will go to arbitration.

(This is definitely less interesting than Tanner's explanation of a citrus-related internet meme-based joke, but you asked)

They'll settle.   It just takes getting through to the committee that has authority to pay you.

Doing the same thing on my Accord that had $12k of repairs.  Other insurer said they would give me nothing for diminished value.
Feel kind of sleazy for suing the other guy, but it's totally due to their ###hole insurance agent who basically dared me to get a lawyer.

Reminds me of the lack of class exhibited when the saints won the Superbowl. When someone has never tasted the ultimate victory, they express it poorly when finally savored.

One and done for eternity
Well, goodness.  My apologies. Here I thought I was pushing Officer Pete Malloy to return in his native form.

there's a form our clients use. it's full of options. you select one thing, you have to select another item from a separate dropdown that appears.

pretty simple stuff.

one of the clients uncovered a flaw that prevents selection from a specific dropdown.

i go to the guy who designed the form.

his response "i knew this was going to happen. just because i designed and built the form, and i'm the only one who knows how it works, i have to fix the thing... even though it's not my fault, i'm responsible for it. it's working the way it's intended. i can't help that that dropdown isn't functioning. i can't fix it."

(did i mention this guy is my single whiteish female?)
