Top 100 Devy Prospects (2017 update on Page 2) (1 Viewer)

I posted some thoughts on devy players here, with the caveat that my approach is set up to evaluate players who are entering the NFL so I will miss younger guys who don't have much production yet. Top RBs are Derrius Guice, Royce Freeman, Nick Chubb, and Saquon Barkley. Top WRs are Courtland Sutton, Equanimeous St. Brown, Cody Thompson, and James Washington. Top QBs are Baker Mayfield, Sam Darnold, and Logan Woodside. Longer lists, and a bit more explanation, at the link.

Doubt he is still on staff, since hasn't even visited the site since October.
I'm still around but at some point lost the password for the login under my real name and thus went back to posting on my old account from my days prior to joining the staff.

I am doing the Devy Top 100 article again this year and targeting Monday, May 8th to have it up on the site.

Any Devy drafts going on? I have a Devy/Rookie draft combo starting next Wednesday. I will post a link when it starts up.

2018 Devy Top 100 is up:

Hit me up with any questions and always looking for constructive feedback.

It felt harder than normal to rank the 2nd-tier 2019 guys, especially at wide receiver, this year.
Thoughts on Miles Sanders, would it surprise you if he jumped into the 1st round of next years draft, or top 10 devy if he stays in college? Is your 65 ranking more of a "we just don't know" rather than something you have seen?

I'd be surprised but not necessarily shocked. I was higher on him at this time last year (and drafted him in a couple leagues). However, I was expecting he would be good enough his soph year (even with Barkley handling a big load) to force his way into getting more than 3 touches per game. I may be misremembering but I also think I heard during fall camp he was even having trouble separating from the pack to be the #2 from some guys I've never really heard of. Stats kind of point to that as well with him only getting ~60% of the backup RB carries in 2017.

So not really anything I've seen that I don't like but my hesitation towards ranking him higher is -- if Sanders is a future star and big-time NFL prospect, why didn't the PSU coaches find a way to get him more than 64 touches total in 2 seasons?

Even if it meant getting creative and playing him with Barkley or lining him up in the slot for end arounds or whatever. For example, UGA got D'Andre Swift 98 touches despite Chubb/Michel ahead of him because he was too good not to use.

Edited:  I didn't realize this was from 2017.  It says May 5 and I thought it was 2018.  All is forgiven ;)

Not sure how N'Keal Harry and AJ Brown aren't the top 2 WR devy prospects.  St. Brown doesn't deserve to be on the list at all.  Deon Cain is another that doesn't belong. Auden Take doesn't belong.  Dobbins way too low.  Sutton too high. Najee Harris too low.  Bo Scarbrough probably doesn't belong on the list. Bryan Edwards too low.  D'Andre Swift way too low.

By the way, I would start taking a look at Patrick Laird at RB, who looked really solid in his work in a mediocre offense in 2017. Over 1100 yards at 5.9 ypc, plus 45 receptions. He's got decent size, good speed, great balance, and pretty nifty moves.

2017 highlight reel (pretty exciting stuff, actually):
