Government Response To The Coronavirus (12 Viewers)

You are the one that can’t seem to read the Politifact response to the sad celebrity opinions that unfortunately get echoed in here. This is why I generally avoid engaging those that whine about Trump and their “facts”. Have a good one.
I dont care what celebrities say. Anyone who echos them and doesnt do their own fact finding are part of the problem. As you are.

I am dismissive to anyone that does not consider facts. I will always be dismissive to anyone that does not consider facts. And we all should demand others be dismissive to anyone that does not consider facts.

I popped in here tonight to see if there was any additional knowledge I could glean related to this bill not being passed. And instead you are talking around what this administration did 2 years ago. Pathetic.
The problem is your "facts" are dependent upon who's saying them.  I respectfully submit you understand the other side, not be so dismissive.

Yeah, the same guys who say Trump should be faster are now the same ones that say he's moving too fast with this possible treatment using the malaria type of drugs.

He can't win with you guys either way.  He can't win because you won't let him win.  It's always something.
He botched the first month of this plain and simple. Really bad.

Definitely don’t fault anyone for wanting this drug to work. We are all with Trump there. I’m really critical of the language he used when talking about it though. He is not good at that and understandably out of his depth. Let the doctors talk about it.

I’m glad you are acknowledging you are part of the problem, as your talking points and the ones used in here are the same as the celebrities in the link.  :lmao:

This is a good step one. Wow.

The time to act was January and February. Inaction then and since has made now's problem worse. The correct counter is to not rush through a solution that hasn't been properly vetted. It is what it is now. How do we deal with it until a sustainable solution is created. This is a consequence of not properly preparing from the outset.

In addition the possible shortages this is causing to others who need the drug for other purposes.  And him going to fast...is that he is saying things the doctors and experts have to walk back as far as the actual process.  That is dangerous talk from him and should be criticized by everyone.

Worse? Like China/Italy worse?  Cause I would say we're not even close to those levels of worse.

I don't think anyone could have been absolutely prepared.  However, I'll grant that the response certainly started out slow but saying "he killed people" is beyond the pale and is factually incorrect.  Saying THAT is what is amping up the panic.  And when people don't agree with it suddenly they're labeled trolls and truth-deniers and should be scorned.

So now that we are on the right path, at what point are you going to let this slow initial response go?  I mean, at some point we have to move forward, don't we?

Tell me more about this Utopia where politicians handle things efficiently? :lmao:

How would you quantify how Trump has done compared to what Biden would do since he’s our alternative? Biden’s department would have stopped a global pandemic? He’s already come out against the travel ban against China, how much longer would you assume sleepy Joe would continue flying in people to our country directly from China before it stopped? Trump was called racist for this and even when he did it think of how many flights of infected people came in the country? Show your math on how Biden would be so much better?

It is still too early to say how bad we really are. The data will tell that story over the next couple weeks.I am happy to be living in a state with a governor that has been as proactive as ours though.

I have no idea how Biden would have handle it.

I know what I saw from Trump and it was not good. I know listening to him gives me zero confidence.

Keeping people from flying in from China was a good move in my opinion.

I'm not watching and much appreciate the play by play.  I do find the whining about it a bit annoying at times but I try to skim past...usually.
I understand..but you understand that only certain statements are cherry picked and quoted.  If you are going to give play by play give it all.

The same thing I despise about the media is what goes on here.   Say it all..the good and bad.

I'm sure if people were dying in numbers like Italy and China we would be hearing about two weeks ago.  I agree that certainly we will know more as each day passes.

I'm glad you're State is handling it well.  Good luck to you and yours!  👍

Can we revisit this? Is this established? The link you provided before was a speech from 3/12. It wasn’t clear at all Biden was speaking about the 2/2 partial travel ban.
I posted another link further back in the weeks following the ban. Would have to search for it when I have a chance.

I’m sure he is moonwalking on it as fast as he can after Fauci supported the move.

Whatever anyone thinks about this whole situation is the bottom line is that we have been ill prepared for decades for something like this.  What a huge wake up call.

Because the dummies in charge are always reactive instead of proactive...

We can't spend money on stuff that "might happen".....

And this is not just about Trump, it's all the idiots in Washington

Same here.  Glad the WI governor is a former superintendent of schools too.  The handling of and communication from my kids' school has been outstanding.

Very true.  Hopefully we put new guidelines in place.  Stockpile needed supplies from home based suppliers and meds if needed.

Prime Minister of Pakistan:

Imran Khan @ImranKhanPTI

I want to appeal to President Trump on humanitarian grounds to lift the sanctions against Iran till the COVID19 pandemic is over. The people of Iran are facing untold suffering as sanctions are crippling Iran's efforts to fight COVID19. Humanity must unite to fight this pandemic
I thought "Death to America"....meant death?

January and February is where he is going to get creamed and he deserves it.

Trump people were critical of Obama not having a strong enough recovery from financial armageddon Pete’s sake
Gosh, I look back at the fact we had our whole congress, senate, media tied up in those same months with an impeachment.  Wasted tens of thousands of hours.  Could  anyone from any side have said "Hey..we have a bigger problem heading our way"?  I have lost faith in all in charge.

So convenient how they selectively forget that charade now isn’t it? Russia before that.

Feel free to vote them out as well.

If what I just read is anywhere near true (RE the phase 3 package) not only are they not close they are no where near close.

The proposed 1200 is a prepaid 2020 tax credit which will come due next April. It’s not free money it’s a one time payday loan.

The “real” part of the bill is a 400B slush fund that gets allocated to the Sec of the treasury. They don’t have to run any loans by anyone and Trump can decide to give it to whoever they want. Per the terms they don’t have to report on anyone who gets a loan for 6 months. It’s literaly a slush fund for corporations and Trump can do whatever the #### he wants with it and not have to tell anyone what he’s doing with the cash.

Nothing is included to prohibit using the $$ for stock buybacks. There is a cap for executive bonuses at 200% of last year. So if you got a 5M bonus last year you could still get one for $10M if your company took a loan.

To put it bluntly there is a 0.000000000000000000000% chance the democrats will go for this. It’s a total and complete horse bleep bill. It’s DOA

Just tired of it all..and I am in my 30s.
Show me anyone who says stuff like this and they will get me #####ing as well:

On Jan. 22, Trump was asked, “Are there worries about a pandemic at this point?" He replied: “No. Not at all. And we have it totally under control. It’s one person coming in from China, and we have it under control. It’s going to be just fine.”

Trump on Jan. 30: “We have it very well under control. We have very little problem in this country at this moment — five. And those people are all recuperating successfully.”

Trump on Feb. 2: "We pretty much shut it down coming in from China."

On Feb. 23, Trump pronounced the situation “very much under control” and added: “We had 12, at one point. And now they’ve gotten very much better. Many of them are fully recovered.”

On Feb. 25, Trump tweeted about “Cryin’ Chuck Schumer” and mocked Schumer for arguing that Trump should be more aggressive in fighting the virus.

On Feb. 27, Trump predicted: “It’s going to disappear. One day — it’s like a miracle — it will disappear.”

On March 2, Trump said: “We’re talking about a much smaller range” of deaths than from the flu. On March 4, he said, about coronavirus: “It’s very mild.”

So convenient how they selectively forget that charade now isn’t it? Russia before that.
It is not bout that, but about what about all of us?  I mean I have younger kids,  does anyone in government have any foresight? I get they wanted Trump out and that is cool.  But of every member of our elected congress and senate, and Trump could anyone have stood up and said "People, there is a huge problem brewing in China and will be coming our way?"   That's all.  Don't care what side..just someone.

We are in the info age.  Out of those hundreds nobody made this a priority to speak out on?

There would be absolutely nothing in this to prevent, say, Trump loaning his own companies money.

Anon, I’ll add Navarro said companies were volunteering manufacturing, Im not sure what else I should add.
That Trump did in fact place those calls and ask businesses to step up. And because of the positive response and stepping forward by the unasked, the Defense Production Act doesn't need to be invoked. Leaving that out is just feeding the ignorant.

Blaming it on impeachment?
Odd how some of those senators had tome to take intelligence briefings on this virus...say the opposite in public about its seriousness and dump stocks.

Trump also had briefings and chose to downplay all of this and claim it was another creation to get him.

Not all of them involved in impeachment proceedings would have had the actual intelligence on that.

Yeah. If thats it...whoever proposed it can bite it and needs to be removed from office.

With all due respect for certain sectors that are suffering immensely, there is no widespread acute corporate financial crisis in this country. There is about to be a widespread acute personal financial crisis in this country. Solve that first. Get money out to people now. Don't worry about means testing, we can claw it back from high earners later through the tax code.

Then let's take our time figuring out how to offer bridge assistance to corporations until the economy is back up and running. We have time here, we don't have to rush into some awful corporate slush fund that we will regret for decades to come.

I mean Murphy did tweet this back at the start of Feb, so there was some thought back then that more needed to be done.

Yeah, but they are about to turn the spigot wide open and the pigs will be damned if they're not going to get their's in this very rare (though twice in 12 years) opportunity. Which is why you don't just hammer this through, as Man in the Box is suggesting.

Ok sorry, I did a follow up note further up, I think Navarro discussed that. Yes I think the argument is companies were already acting voluntarily. However Trump did make the statement about being wary of nationalization.
