**Official 2014 MLB Regular Season-All over but the shouting (1 Viewer)

Ortiz' bloop last Friday against the Rangers now changed to a hit.

Would have been very interesting to see what would have happened had he not then broken up the no-hitter with two out in the ninth.

That's just great. Now we'll get two hours of I told you sos from Harold Reynolds tonight. AVOID!

The Angels just ran a CLINIC on how to f--k up.

Bases loaded, no outs. The #7 hitter looks at a perfect strike 3 on an 0-2 count. The #8 hitter hits into a DP on a 2-0 pitch. Not only don't they score, but the pitcher has to lead off next inning. Awful.

How many guys in the bigs right now are slower than Pujols? He barely scored from 2nd on a double. :lmao:
Konerko is one
VMART is another. Prince Fielder would be one two but not solely on lack of speed, but also on incredibly horrendous baserunning skills. Slowest guy is still Jose Molina though.
vmart 2 Sb!

Is Maholm taking one for the team, or what?
:lmao: at Donnie Baseball using Chris Perez in the 4th inning when he pitched last night
Yeah, I found that curious. Lots of dumb managers of this new generation, Ryan Sandberg is so bad it's painful.
There have always been dumb managers but Mattingly, Sandberg and Ventura aren't helping the cause of future stars who want to break into management. Posnanski wrote a piece about it earlier in the season where he ranked MLB managers by their success as players (Maddon was last). I don't know if ex-stars are less willing to put in their time in the low minors to gain managerial experience. Maybe they're seen as too expensive or perhaps there's discrimination by front office types who were also failed players. But Torre and maybe Ozzie were the last stars who won World Series as managers. Pinella, Gil Hodges and Davey Johnson were also successful at both.

There are about 25 people behind home plate at Dodger Stadium right now. Almost all of them are looking down at their phone during the action. :lmao: What's the point? GO HOME!!

I suspect that the the unwillingness to put in the time is part of it (I think that was a big issue with Mike Schmidt), but it's also that the guys that are the most talented cannot explain or even understand how they do what they do. Like Willie Mays as a hitting coach: "No, hit it like this."

Guys who suck really have to put in time to figure out any advantage that they can just to hang on. Stars don't need to worry about it as much. Obviously it does happen occasionally, but not that often.

Honestly, it's kind of a hassle for anybody who made good money during their careers, anyway.

Oddly enough, it's Sandberg that put the time into honing his 'craft' in the minors with almost 900 games managed.

Has anyone else noticed that baseball reference is now the slowest site on the innerwebs?
Loads fast for me.yahoo fantasy baseball is the slowest site I know of
Odd. Doesn't matter what browser, where (home/office/phone) or when. Damn site just crawls
It has a bunch of scripts that try and load. Its weird.
I just had it up a couple hours ago, went away and did other stuff, then after like 15 minutes, an audio/video ad came on, so maybe this is related.
