I did.Do you really believe that??I reading he will start but will only get half the carriesTomorrow couldn't come fast enough and I know I won't be able to sleep tonight. Portis is going to rip it up!![]()
Portis. I'm not a fan of rookie RB's, particularly when there's a veteran on the roster who has started for that team already. There's too much to learn about blitz pick-ups, etc. IMHO to trust them in the lineup. Disclaimer: I've not been following the Vikings closely, so if they're on the record about Peterson getting 20 carries or something then you might reconsider. I'm assuming he at best is splitting carries with Chester Taylor.Portis or A Peterson? (PPR)
where is nygiants??? I thought Betts was the vastly superior talent and RB????Alrighty...C. Portis 17 98 1 L. Betts 17 59 0I think this should pretty much settle it.![]()
There you have it folks: straight from Norman Einstein.he's closer to IR, than he is to playing a single down this season. He's a huge BUST at this point.
Betts will continue to be the main man in DC..![]()
can the Portis lovers on this board finally get a grip, and pull themselves out of denial, already?!
the guy can't:
run, except in straight lines.
practice.
make cuts.
its the end of preseason.he hasn't carried the ball, once..has practiced for only a day or two.he has a surgically repaired shoulder that hasn't even been tested yet..
people need to wake up, Portis will not play much,if at all, this season.
Betts is the money pick on that team.
It doesn't matter how even the carries are. Portis is the more productive back. The only thing Betts will do is keep Portis fresh all year, allowing him to make better longer carries. I think you are going to be looking at Portis getting fewer carries, with a higher YPC than you have seen since he has been in Washington. Was disappointed to see Betts in there so much but Portis still did very good and Im happy with the results (although I benched Peterson for him). Only bad thing is people will see that split in carries and think itll be RBBC all year. I doubt it will be like that all year. But its still too early to trade Portis if you were thinking of doing so.
Trading Portis would be a rather foolish thing to do, he's only going to get more carries.
I agree with this. Im just saying for those thinking about trading him this is still a bad time to trade him because the perception right now will still be a RBBC.It doesn't matter how even the carries are. The next two weeks are division games followed by a bye, so I think you'll definitely see an increase in carries for those games (unless a game gets out of hand).Don't you guys think now that he has proved he is healthy Maybe Gibbs will give him more carries?
Definitely a bit winded a few times.Portis looked a little out of shape to me, I think that's why Betts was in so much. Oh well, I guess 100/1 is not bad for a week 1.
Calling for NY GIANTS....... come and own up to your bold predictions.
I seriously doubt you will see him in this thread again.Calling for NY GIANTS....... come and own up to your bold predictions.![]()
Knee looked good on that 19yard TD run!
i'm not one for calling guys out when they are wrong. But, NYGiants has a well recorded history of making posts whose sole purpose is to make others angry. Run a search for his recent posts and see for yourself. IOW, take his posts with a grain of saltETA: As a Portis owner, i was very happy to see him outperform Betts today. And i am fine with split carries in September if it means Portis will be around come weeks 14-17I seriously doubt you will see him in this thread again.Calling for NY GIANTS....... come and own up to your bold predictions.![]()

I agree, I love that most people on this board will stand behind their projections and predictions right or wrong. It's the few like NYgiants that lower the quality of the board.i'm not one for calling guys out when they are wrong. I certainly wouldn't be critical of people who put together thoughtful, well reasoned opinions that don't pan out. I don't do my own stats/projections so my appreciation is sincere for those who do. However NYGiants56 was clearly on a fishing trip with his obvious Giants homerism getting the way of any useful information.Time to come back and man-up! Just admit that you may have been wrong and CPortis just *might* have a decent year.

I sent him a message but no response.nygiants56 internet service must be down. I'm sure he would show up otherwise.![]()
He's off having a beer with ILUVBEER99 in a WiFi blackout zone.Or he's trying to ditch Betts off while the carries are still even.I sent him a message but no response.nygiants56 internet service must be down. I'm sure he would show up otherwise.![]()

redman said:Betts carried more than I figured he would, but IMHO that was out of recognition that Portis isn't quite in game shape yet. Portis is clearly 100% healthy, though, and has all of his old burst. This is about as much work as we'll see from Betts in one game barring an injury to Portis; it's all downhill from here.
Yes, barring injury I think there's very little doubt that Portis will be a top 10 RB, maybe top 5.Are you guys really thinking Portis can be a Fantasy #1 stud RB this year? I hoping so because i lost Caddy & Jacobs today?? I drafted Portis in my auction draft for a dirt cheap price NOBODY wanted him!!

Exactly right, couldn't have said it better.I'm trying very hard not to put too much stock in one game, but Portis did exactly what I was hoping for when I drafted him. He may not be his old self yet, but he dispelled the knee injury worries, and began pushing Betts back to the bench. :knocksonwood:
