Where do the Pats WR corps rank now? (1 Viewer)

With the additions of Moss, Stallworth, Welker, and Washington, on top of Caldwell, Brown, Gaffney, Chad Jackson and Ben Watson... where do they now rank in terms of top-to-bottom talent?

One may argue Moss and Stallworth's skills all day (that's for another thread)... but are they now considered the deepest WR corps in the league? I'm talking top-to-bottom here.

1. Randy Moss

2. Donté Stallworth

3. Ben Watson

4. Wes Welker

5. Reche Caldwell

6. Kelley Washington

7. Troy Brown

8. Jabar Gaffney

IR: Chad Jackson

Thoughts?

Easily on par with Indy as far as talent is concerned. As far as work ethic, obviously both Harrison and Wayne have better reputations for being hard workers than Moss and Stallworth. However, if anyone can get those two to work hard, it's BB.There is no way anyone can argue anything about Brady's WRs being the reason his stats aren't up there with Manning's this year. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if they are #1 and #2, and which one is which, really could go either way.

If Moss is "Moss" then they will likely be one of the best groups in the NFL. Even if Moss is back to old I have a hard time saying they are as good as Indy though. Moss may = Harrison but Wayne is a huge advantage vs any WR2 outside of Boldin/Fitz.... maybe Calvin now too.

Looks a whole lot more like the "throw a bunch of junk at the wall and see what sticks" approach to me.

moss- not the randy moss of 4 years ago. bad work ethic, sloppy play habits, and bad attitude does not make you better with age.

stallworth- never has reached potential, and probaly never will now.

watson- decent TE.

welker- good for 40 catches.

caldwell. washington, gaffney- all 3 are high draft pick busts that will either be lost in the shuffle or cut.

brown- old, really old, but may have some left in tank. great character guy, and nice vetern presence

i think the sum is greater than the whole, which is fine, given how brady likes to spread the love. i don't see any one player having a great year, including moss. except brady

Timing and adjustments to game situations has to play a part in any rankings...

The Colts and Bengals have teh same main pieces in place for multiple years now and would have to be ranked higher than the Patriots at this time. Off the top of my head I'd also rank Arizona and Dallas above New England right now.

none of these guys know the playbook or have ever taken a pass from Tom Brady. I'm not expecting instant sucsess and I don't think they gel until the 2nd half of the season.

This seems about right. I might put Detroit up there, too.

They added some big names but this in no way translates to a better WR corps, atleast not yet. They have to prove it on the field before we can annoint them with any status ratings, IMO.

Clark 4 year average, including a partial year:30 Rec400 Yds.13.4 YPC3.5 TDsAs the 3rd or 4th option in the passing game.Watson's 2 year average (excluding his 1st year with only playing 1 game):40 Rec.550 Yds.13.8 YPC3.5 TDsThis with him being arguably the #1 option last season in their passing game.

No respect! You excluded Kyle Brady and Mike Vrabel from the threat list! All we need is three legitimate threats to form from this list. I like the odds...

Am I the only one that thinks that this passing game is going to start slowly due to all the new faces there? Brady didn't seem to get on track until into the second half of the season last year without Branch and Givens, and I've got to think that the same kind of thing will happen here even with the talent upgrade.

We all have a tendency to forget that this is a team sport after all.

True, but Brady's margin of error with Caldwell and Gafney was less because neither of them were matchup problems with opposing CBs, thus the longer learning curve. Brady will still have to get his timing down with Moss and Stallworth, but there will be times where he can just chuck it up there and those guys will go get it.

What I find amusing is that NE pulled this trade off on Day 2. Why? Because the Day 1 CB's were all off the board by then such that the Jets, Buffalo and Miami couldn't try to stock up on CB talent to counter this move.

I don't know whether that was happenstance or by design, but it's amusing nonetheless.

I think New England's WR corps will be at least as powerful as the Oakland Raiders were in 2005.

They produced the #15 and #26 WRs, and the #9 QB.
