Ken Griffey Jr, Morgan Ensberg, Todd Helton, Eric Gagne? Lots of names being thrown around and a lot of teams with needs.

Tigers have been rumored to be looking at the retired Troy Percival and do need bullpen help. What would they give Texas for Gagne? Not much I hope. :unsure:

The Tigers have to be considering some moves relating to their bullpen. Last year, before we even got to Jones, we had Zumaya (out until August or so), Rodney (not as good as last year and has missed a few days), and Walker (gone to Baltimore). That is a lot to overcome. Mesa looks terrible and I have to think his days are numbers unless he drastically improves.

I'm not sure what Gagne is worth. His numbers looks decent, but I haven't seen him pitch, so hard for me to give a good opinion. But I do see the Tigers making a move to solidify the back end of the bullpen. It seems to be the only weakness right now.

 
Tigers may want to take a look at Scott Eyre for a cheaper alternetive. His days in Chicago could be soon over and he would be going to a nice pitchers park.

Matsui is signed through 2009 and Ichiro is signed through October.It keeps a Japanese star in Seattle which the original poster stated.It's not that far-fetched.

He's been a hot hitter and the Phils could get something for him, but knowing the Phils, they won't do jack.

I'm exaggerating slightly.However, there is not a hug gap between the 2. Ichiro is way overhyped. Hideki is kinda overlooked.Ichiro is a much better fielder and base runner.Hideki hits for more power. Their OBP is the same...however Ichiro's OBP is directly related to his ability to hit the ball where people aren't. If he loses some speed and some of BABIP, he will regress.OPS+ has Hideki at 126. Ichiro at 120

Think about this for a minute, do we really want Jayson Werth or Michael Bourn to become an everyday player?? I sure don't. Truth is, we really don't have anything to trade to get the pitching help we truly need.

Ichiro is a much more rounded player. He plays great defense, has one of the best arms around, is a great base stealer and is one of the best hitters in the game. I don't think there is a comparison between him and Matsui except they both came from Japan.

Although trading Rowand when his trade value is ablut as high as it'll ever get IMO doesn't sound like a bad idea. Getting pitching in trades these days isn't easy though. How are the Phillies set in the minors for pitching?

The ownership want to keep a big start on the Mariners and Matsui is the biggest star in Japan who is signed long term...I don't think the M's are going to resign Ichiro and I could see the Yanks signing him longterm..

Really? Mariners spend more than the majority of teams and they've given a lot of money to Sexon and Beltre. If they are gonna shell out money to those guys and Ichiro wants to stay, I can see them opening up the wallets to keep the stands full. In fact I'd be surprised if Ichiro left. This doesn't sound like a rumor, this sounds like a dream by a Yankees fan. The Mariners aren't the Royals guy.

Teams have been inquiring about him, but its unlikely hes traded unless the astros completely tank. The team still thinks they can turn him around, though I have my doubts. Essentially, they seem to want to trade him when he's getting blown up, but at full value. When he's going well, they just dont want to trade him. So, he'll be a $6 million set up man.

Although trading Rowand when his trade value is ablut as high as it'll ever get IMO doesn't sound like a bad idea. Getting pitching in trades these days isn't easy though. How are the Phillies set in the minors for pitching?

As barren as the Sahara. :shrug: Like you mentioned, acquiring pitching isn't easy, as alot of teams are looking for it. As nice a season that Rowand is having, I'm sure someone could offer plenty more.

I read in someone's blog that Teixeira could eventually wind up in Baltimore.

Numerous sources say the Phillies are very interested in Colorado closer Brian "Tito/Daisy" Fuentes. I'd think he would cost at least a very nice starting pitching prospect.

Also the Tigers are said to be thinking of trading Jose Mesa to oblivion if said oblivion will pick up the rest of his contract.

The O's do need a regular first baseman, and they have a little pitching to spare, and he is from Severna Park. He'd look good in an O's uni.

Yeah, my point was that Roward is playing WELL over his head. He's not a .320 hitter. Heck, he's not a .300 hitter. He's not this good. The Phils would be wise to get rid of him before he really tails off.It's kinda funny......I'm pretty sure the Phils are paying about 2 million to Rod Barajas. :unsure: That money could have gotten another arm in the bullpen.

Regarding your Werth or Bourn question, I think Bourn would make a good everyday centerfielder. I can see something like a .260 average, 40 SB's, and 100 runs.....if he plays everyday.

...and if this happens, Manny Corpas becomes the closer in Colorado.
 
Just a gut feeling on my part but I could see Geoff Jenkins, Brewers LF getting dealt closer to the trading deadline. The Brewers are carrying 6 OF's and one will need to be dealt at sometime.

With Jenkins making around 8mil on the last year of a 3 year deal I believe, the Brewers also have 3 exciting, young and fairly cheap options that need consistent playing time in Hall, Gwynn and Hart. Just a gut feeling but I wouldn't be surprised at all to see it happen.

Any playoff type teams in need of a left handed power hitting OF?

:confused: DO IT AND DO IT NOW. Dye is a better fielder, better power hitter, and is righthanded which the Yanks desperately need.

Because the Tigers were looking for a guy who could pitch in the 7th and 8th to relieve Zumaya and Rodney of some of their strain. Last year pitching in Colorado Mesa had a +125 ERA, gave up 73 hits in 72 innings, and had more K's than walks. He also is known for his great work ethic and is always in good shape. He wasn't supposed to be superman just get a few outs here and there. Jamie Walker who filled that roll last year in Detroit signed for 4 mill a year in Baltimore. A guy that was to have a similiar roll with the Red Sox Mike Timlin was signed for 2.8 million. Jorge Julio, $3 miilion. It was worth the shot considering all that. Just didn't work out.

There have been intermittent rumors about the Red Sox trading Coco Crisp to make room for Ellsbury in CF. Also, they may look to move Kyle Snyder at some point as well.

My car is gassed up, I'll drive Abreu to the airport or Chicago, whichever he prefers, to make this happen.However, look who is playing each other in a 4 game set this week...

I think Dye is a winning player, I'd love for this move to go down!

Keeper League alert for you keeper leaguer's. And likely enough stolen bases to make him a mixed league pick up in any size league.Great head's up here, thanks. I've been watching his progress all season. SLG % is very low at AAA but otherwise he looks to be a very solid roto guy.
