What the hell am I going to do? Playing with the Dominator tells me I've got:

M. Barber

Stephen Jackson

Frank Gore

at the 11th spot. And then on the turn:

Reggie Wayne

T.O.

Larry Johnson

Clinton Portis

Not sure where to go with it.

Bump. There's got to be other unfortunate souls with the 11th pick.

I wish Stephen Jackson would fall that far, but it's not going to be possible. You'll be looking at guys like Marshawn Lynch, Ryan Grant, MJD, Randy Moss, TO. I like Portis this year, and if he falls to that spot I'd be ecstatic.

My own personal philosophy is to probably go RB/RB. Let's not fool ourselves here and get too fancy. It's not a great spot. Then again I play in a 12 person league with 1 QB/2 RB/2 WR/1 RB or WR flex/TE/K/D. So we get these huge runs on RBs...but that's just my league. I think the average league is probably a lot different.

I'm at #11 in one league, #10 (12 team) in another (non-PPR). I've done quite a few mocks over the last several days, and here's what I'm seeing:

Round 1: Pretty much a choice between Lynch, Portis, MBIII here. I've been snagging Portis because I trust him more than the other two (if Buff LT Peters gets in camp and is healthy Lynch might edge out Portis for me). In all the mocks I've done both Brady AND P. Manning have gone in first 11 picks.

Round 2: LJ, MJD, Wayne, Edwards. I've decided I pretty much HAVE to go WR here. The value at RB later is much greater IMO than WR later. Once TO slid this far, the other times I've taken Wayne, but Edwards is creeping up my radar.

Round 3: Welker, Boldin, Greg Jennings, ROY. Consistently going WR as RB value continues to slide. If you HAVE to get a QB, Big Ben MAY slide this far (got him once).

Round 4: McFadden, Willie Parker, Jacobs, Selvin Young, Bush, Maroney, Santonio Holmes, Calvin Johnson. Pretty much where you find value. I've been waffling between McFadden and Homes here, setting up a decision in Round 5 to either get my 2nd RB or 3 WR.

In most of the drafts I've done after Round 4 you're looking at the Hasselbecks, Favres, Bulgers of the QB world. I've been waiting to take Eli or Cutler or Rodgers, as I see their baselines about the same (too many ?s with the older guys). A typical core for my mock teams has ended up looking like this:

QB: Eli, J. Cambell (or Rivers or Rodgers)

RB: Portis or Lynch, McFadden or Maroney or Bush, Selvin Young or Lyndale White

WR: Wayne, Boldin or Jennings, Cotchery or Coles or Driver, Curry

etc...

I'd feel pretty confident with that group, although it'd be an uphill climb vs. the teams with picks 1-3 as far as I've seen.

I had the 12th pick last year and just got news I'll have the 11th this year. Man what a disaster. The fantasy football gods are against me seeing as I won back to back championships 3/4 years ago.

So far I have figured out that I will almost certainly be taking a combination of Portis or Lynch and Owens or Wayne at the first turn. Ideally I would have Portis and Owens but I can live with the other two if they don't fall.

At the second turn I'm thinking about taking the top receiver with either the top running back or Palmer/Roethlisberger.

My goal is to end up with one of the Top 3 receivers (Moss, Wayne, Owens) at either 11 or 14.

If Moss is still there, I'm taking him.

If Moss is the only receiver off the board, I'm taking RB at 11 figuring that 12/13 will go RB/WR and I'll take the remaining one form the Big 3.

My problem (which I think is unlikely) is what happens if 2 of the 3 WR go in the Top 10? If Brady has also been taken, there should be some prime RB. If I take the third Wr at 11, does 12/13 go RB-RB?If that's the case then I end up with Portis or Lynch/Owens just in the wrong order.

I actually like the 11th pick over say 7th thru 10th.

If I get left with Gore and not Portis or Lynch I'll cry.

Pretty much the same strat for me, but I'll deviate a little.My league where I'm drafting from the 11-hole gives QBs 6pts/TD. With this in mind, I usually gun for Portis or Lynch and then try to land Manning at the first turn. If not, then I either have to wait and hope I can get Palmer in the 3rd, or I reach for Romo.At the 3/4 turn, if I went RB/QB at the 1/2, I then go WR/RB, depending on who's available. This crappy thing here, is that the DD nearly 100% of the time tells me to take Edge as my RB here. I'm questioning that a LOT these days, especially when Edge has come back to me in many drafts at the 5/6. I'm thinking I would like a little more upside from my RB2, and am now looking at McFadden or even reaching for TJones.At the 5/6 turn, again I go for my RB3, and my WR2. If the value is there in a TE, I will go Winslow or Gonzo if they are still on the board and fill my WRs later.7/8 turn I usually go with a DST in MIN or SD, and then another WR. That seems like a reach, I know, but I'm finding that unless you reach a little at the 11 spot, you are always playing catch-up, rather than dictating the pace.9/10 I either go RB/WR for the 9.11 pick, depending on the value available. the 10.02 pick, I usually grab my QB2.The rest are just filled on who I need, but I take my kicker at 12.02 usually.The significant alteration I go with depends who falls to me in the first round. I have had Moss/TO on the 1/2 turn, and if they're both on the board, screw it, I'm taking them. If this is the case, I usually shoot for Palmer in the 3/4, if not, then McNabb at the 5/6, if not then I go Garrard/Cutler back-to-back at the 7/8 turn.Since most of the value in the 1st round is RB, we get the last crack at the "top" RBs, but we get first at the elite WRs (or QBs), so I think its prudent to take 1 of the "elites". I have even tried going WR/WR or WR/QB and had some drafts turn out. Still, my strongest drafts are when I go RB/QB/WR and have a "top" TE by rnd 6 and either MIN or SD by 8.It seems the more I mock, the more confused I become....

Kinda bored, so I thought I'd do a live mock draft commentary. I won't tell you who all have been picked, but who're the main principles I'm choosing between in each round. Maybe this will add a bit of knowledge as you plan your strategy for #11 pick in your drafts,.

14 round draft, start 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 K, 1 D; 5 reserve spots.

Round 1: LT, ADP, Westbrook, SJax, Brady, P. Manning, MBIII, Addai, Moss, TO...

I can snag Gore, Lynch, or Portis...or reach for Edwards or Wayne at WR. I go Portis.

RD 2: Looking ahead: If Lynch or Gore are still there, I can grab one and have 2 stud RBs, or take Edwards or Wayne and have a top flight RB/WR combo. Or reach for Romo or Brees... Guy at #12 goes with Edwards/Wayne 12/13, so my decision is essentially made for me. I snag Lynch and start my draft with a Portis/Lynch RB combo.

RD 3: Looking ahead: My natural inclination is to grab two WRs now that I have my RBs established. I COULD hope for Big Ben or Palmer to slip, or reach for D. Anderson at QB. If I can't grab Brees or Romo in 3rd though, I think I'll wait untill 6 or 7 and grab a lower rated QB. At this point, I'm hoping for WR value to slide to me...Palmer and Anderson and Ben go earlier in Round 3; Steve Smith is slipping...With my choice of Steve Smith, Plexico, or Boldin, I pull the trigger on Plex.

RD 4: #12 goes RB/RB, so I still have Smith, Boldin or Holmes at WR to choose between. I go with Smith. I hate to leave Santonio on the board, and know he won't make it back to me in RD 5. He's a favorite of mine. But the value of Smith in the 4th, even with the suspension, is too much to pass up. After 4 rounds my roster looks like this:

RB: Portis (10), Lynch (6)

WR: Burress (4), Smith (9)

I have the #7 and #8 RB and #8 and #12 WR according to my cheetsheet. I'm feeling pretty strong at this point.

RD 5: Looking ahead: I'm hoping Cotchery, Driver, or maybe even Brandon Marshall fall to me in the 5th. There's also a possibility for Kellen Winslow at TE. Or I could target Edge and back up my two RBs. Winslow, Marshall, and Greg Jennings go in the early 5th. There goes Holmes. Vikings D taken in the 5th!...With Driver, Coles and Cotchery sitting there, I elect to go with the potential and snag Cotchery as my 3rd WR in the 5th.

RD 6: I think about taking a TE (Gonzo), or even grabbing Driver and ensuring my wideouts (especially with Smith out 2 games). Instead, I take the value of Edge as my 3rd RB; he's #14 at the position on my sheet. I could take Bulger, but I'm low on him, and McNabb went in the 5th. I'll wait on QB another round.

After 6 rounds, my roster looks like this:

RB: Portis (10), Lynch (6), Edge (7)

WR: Burress (4), Smith (9), Cotchery (5)

RD 7: Looking ahead: I'm thinking QB - Favre, Eli, Garrard. Or if they are all still available, maybe another WR for insurance. Having passed on Gonzo, I'm essentially punting TE to the late rounds. I'll take a flyer on the Jets' rookie or on Crumpler if he's still around. And on cue, 4 more TEs go off the board late in the 6th...#12 still needs a QB, and I'm liking Favre. So rather than miss out on Favre by waiting 3 picks (his ADP is round 8), I take him now. I also like the potential for big points with Favre/Cotchery hookup.

RD 8: I thought about taking Fred Taylor or Matt Forte for even more insurance at RB, but instead I pick up Bernard Berrian, a very high-ceiling #4 WR, and someone who should provide solid stats the first couple games while Smith's serving his suspension.

After 8 rounds, my roster looks like this:

QB: Favre (5)

RB: Portis (10), Lynch (6), Edge (7)

WR: Burress (4), Smith (9), Cotchery (5), Berrian (8)

RD 9: Looking ahead: I'm thinking RB (Forte, Taylor), QB (Garrard, Schaub) or D (NE, SEA, or Dal). There goes NE at the end of the 8th; Forte gone; 4 kickers in a row taken in the mid 9th...Garrard is too enticing to ignore. I take him in Round 9. Favre and Garrard are two very good QBs.

RD 10: #12 takes the Cowboys, so I go ahead and grab Seattle's D. They are a strong D with a favorable schedule, particularly against the NFC West. I am the 8th team to take a D. Dodds would be so proud.

After 10 rounds, my team looks like this:

QB: Favre (5), Garrard (7)

RB: Portis (10), Lynch (6), Edge (7)

WR: Burress (4), Smith (9), Cotchery (5), Berrian (8)

D: SEA (4)

RD 11: I'm left to taking a K, TE, and two more reserves. I'll take a couple of flyers on sleepers. Maybe Ray Rice at RB, and Vincent Jackson or Muhammed at WR... I draft Kaeding, SD's kicker. He's a consistent, undervalued scorer.

RD 12: I actually manage to get Tony Scheffler, the TE from Denver. He's a good value in TE required leagues this late.

After 12 rounds, my roster looks like this:

QB: Favre (5), Garrard (7)

RB: Portis (10), Lynch (6), Edge (7)

WR: Burress (4), Smith (9), Cotchery (5), Berrian (8)

TE: Scheffler (8)

K: Kaeding (9)

D: SEA (4)

RD 13: Looking ahead: OK, here's where I try to grab a couple of sleepers at RB and WR. Actually, I think I'll try to insure Lynch with Fred Jackson, and Smith with Muhammad if I can in rounds 13/14...I take Muhammad in RD 13.

RD 14: And Fred Jackson in RD 14, rounding out my team. My complete team looks like this:

QB: Favre (5), Garrard (7)

RB: Portis (10), Lynch (6), Edge (7), F. Jackson (6)

WR: Burress (4), Smith (9), Cotchery (5), Berrian (8), Muhammad (9)

TE: Scheffler (8)

K: Kaeding (9)

D: SEA (4)

At first glance this looks like a very strong team. If Portis and Lynch can replicate, and maybe improve a bit on last years' efforts, RB will be a great strength. QB should be strong. I may play a little QBBC and play the matchups. WR looks to be a strength if Smith comes back from his suspension angry and Burress holds up physically. TE won't be a strength, but shouldn't be a huge weakness, and K and D are both solid if unspectacular. I'd say this is a team that, if healthy, is no worse than 3rd or 4th place in a league...and if a couple players hit big years (Favre, Lynch, Smith, Cotchery) could be a championship team.

Hope that is informative for some of you drafting at #11. Good is very possible...excellent is within reach with a couple of breaks.

I'm bullish on Berrian with Tavaris there. But it's Round 8 so it's a crapshoot more or less then. You ended up with Scheffler regardless later (solid pick) & your team looks solid everywhere. Nice work

I understand your feelings about Berrian. I've always been a bit of a homer of his. Seems like he always breaks free for a couple of long reception opportunities. I expect something along the lines of 70 yds, .4 TDs/game. If I came out of Weeks 1 and 2 with Berrian giving me 120 yds and a TD, I'd feel like I protected Smith pretty well. The downside is that Minny plays GB and Indy those first two weeks, so it's not like Tavaris is throwing against weak Ds.Thanks for the kudos though. I thought that this might be a useful tool for some guys bummed about #11.

Well I kinda broke my promise. I took Gore at 1.11 and at 2.02 I had the choice between Reggie Wayne and Marshawn Lynch.I went Lynch. I went with Anquan Boldin and Calvin Johnson in the 3rd and 4th followed by Edge and McNabb in the 5th and 6th.

I was very happy with my draft. I have no RB depth, but maybe I get lucky and some other people's starters go down, and then I have some depth. I took the 2 RB first, than abandoned them because there was no real value on them later for me. I went for the 2 Man QBBC from the article, and got the tandem rated highest.

Feel like I'm in good shape, but I am 1 starting RB injury away from a lost season. Taking WR/WR worked great in my league, the guy with the 10 pick had the same strategy and took Moss/Andre Johnson with his first two picks. After that, top wr's went like crazy and I got Jacobs and Edge pretty late.

Considering we start 4 receivers and only 2 rbs, I couldn't justify drafting LJ or Lynch with 1.11 or 2.02. Now I am stacked at wr and still have 2 bona fide starting RBs

I used a combination of Dodds perfect 12 team draft (mostly the QB section), the VBD app, and Smith's #11 Slot article to guide my strategy.

Shocked you got Calvin in the 6th round - amazing value. My draft is tomorrow, and I'm thinking I'll have to spend pick 4.02 if I want him. That said, at 4.02 he'll be at least the 15th WR off the board, and most likely closer to 20th WR. I think he definitely outperforms that slot and finishes just within top 10 if not higher. Anyone see better value at WR in the 4th round? Maybe Boldin, Holt, or S. Smith?

calvin johnson went 3.10 in my draft, i probably would have taken him with the next pick and the guy in front of me knew it. I took s holmes instead b/c i knew #12 wouldn't take a RB so i got Jacobs at 4.02.I forget which guy said this earlier, but its pretty easy to abuse the #12 spot unless he is a real shark. Just take whatever he needs on the way up and he will usually reach instead of screwing you on the way down due to the distance between his picks.

In round 1 if Lynch had gone instead of Gore I probably would have ended up going WR/WR with Wayne and Owens. I was hoping Portis would fall to me but I'm happy to get Lynch.

Not sure what I think of the team, kind of looking for breakout years from a lot of guys. Not at all hppy with my QBs.

It is a good thing I mock draft about 100 times and test out strategies. I had 3 basic plans going into this draft and you are never sure how things pan out.

First the ground rules. TDs are 6+pts including Passing with bonuses for distances. Second this is a money league that went from a redraft to a 2 keeper going forward.

Third, the league is QB heavy ( Qbs go early and we are only allowed to have 2 on the roster).

Anyhow, it's not like I cant turn TO or Wayne into an RB1. I may not have to. If either McFadden or Johnson blows up, I'm gold, so I'm not entirely worried. I think OAK is gonna run DMac's ### off.

league seems to favor QB's 6pts for TD's 0-9,9 for 10-39, 12 for 40+) and RB's who can catch and score rec TD's otherwise pretty standard
