I survived week 4 with no defense... rolling with Panthers only, figured the week 4 bye would be relatively easy.

Eiffert, Casey, and Fred Davis are going to kill this team though. Even though I've got Cameron and JThomas.

Still alive, but it figures the year I drop down to rostering two kickers, one of them gets hurt. Need Kai healthy for week 12, c'mon buddy.

The combo of Romo/Luck has been really consistent.

But to get to week 12, I have to survive a scary proposition this week. Might have shot myself in the foot with only having 3 eligible RBs this week when Peterson has his bye. Greene is garbage...so if Lacy doesn't play, that leaves CJ2k who hasn't done much. Need a big week out of WRs and TEs.

Top 25 performance this week, mostly due to Tony's 44.9 :tebow:

I'm absolutely certain I'll be kicked Week 5 with no one on bye.

QB Peyton Manning (3/4), Matt Schaub (1/4)

RB Trent Richardson (3/4), Darren Sproles (3/4), Marshawn Lynch (2/4), Eddie Lacy (1/4)

WR Wes Welker (4/4), Brandon Marshall (3/4), Brian Hartline, Kenbrell Thompkins (2/4), Golden Tate (1/4)
TE Jason Witten (2/4), Julius Thomas (2/4), Tony Gonzalez (1/4)
K Steve Hauschka (3/4), Josh Brown (1/4)
D Tennessee Titans (2/4), Philadelphia Eagles (2/4)

still alive and getting Blackmon back from suspension. Very disappointed thus far with my most expensive player ($27 T.Richardson)

1 defense? interesting strategy. i can usually milk 16 pts out of a defense

Doing shockingly well so far, considering I invested in Gronk, Spiller and Wilson.

Thank science for Matt Forte/Joique Bell or my runners would be boned.

Loading up at TE to absorb the potentially lengthy "Gronk Conundrum" has worked wonders so far. Here's hoping it continues.

RGIII and Garcon on BYE this week. Will hopefully be getting Gronk, Lacy and Amendola back. Two of my three kickers are also on BYE, along with my Redskins defense.

Purposely loaded up on 'Skins and Gronk, hoping I could sneak past the first 5 rounds of "easy" cuts and have a more stacked team as things get tighter.

Relying on Vick, Baltimore's defense and Graham Gano to do well this week as my only QB, DEF and K.

I also need David Wilson to finally man up and contribute. I think it finally happens this time around, with a great matchup and an 0-4 record.

I WANT MY JULIUS THOMAS!

[/betterOffDead]
God I suck at this.
Week 3: Made the first real cut in ~8350th place. Dollars spent per point:

(snip - detailed week 3 breakdown)
Week 4: With my RBs, thought I was dead, but ended up with my highest score in 4 weeks and alive in ~7770th place. Dollars spent per point:

QB: $2.04 = $46/22.60. QB1 Luck scoring for the 3rd week of 4, but QB3 Jake Locker at half the price came in 1.45pts behind.

RB: $2.96 = $73/24.70. With RB3 Rodgers leading the way and RB2 Ridley being the requisite scorer in single digits, this position is going to kill me sooner than later. Half my RBs put up zeroes, thanks to injury or suckitude.

WR: $1.30 = $73/67.10. WR1 Welker continues to be the stud. WR8 Thompkins came through huge and finally WR7 McCluster contributed as a flex, thanks to his special teams TD. Big drop off in scores after those 3. Surviving without WR2 Amendola and WR6 Jacoby Jones playing. My belief that "WR variance makes investment in as many WRs as possible the best strategy" may appear good, especially for navigating the bye week minefield these next several weeks.

TE: $1.18 = $39/33.00. TE2 Fleener taking advantage of the Dwayne Allen injury and maybe re-connecting with his Stanford QB. TE1 Witten provided a flex score, but TE3 Celek was just 1.6pts behind him. Good week for this trio.

K: $0.59 = $09/15.20. Hauschka lead the way, almost doubling up Feely while Crosby was on his bye.

D: $0.83 = $10/12.00. Saints D has scored all 4 weeks. First double-digit contribution from any D in 4 weeks.

You gotta pay for it? lol I'll pass.
It's your prerogative, of course, but for a 16 week season, that works out to like 30 cents a week. It's literally not worth sitting there doing it yourself when there's already a tool that will do it for you automatically for that cheap. Well worth IMO it to support a fellow FBG who spends his own time and money to create it for everyone.
It's also worth noting that this isn't the first year he's offered the service, but previously just asked for donations. Things changed and he wasn't able to justify the time and effort, and so he offered people a way to have their scores if they wanted it, for which I'm very grateful.

Clearly not enough people valued his work enough to donate, and I'm glad that rather than just not offer it this year he gave those of us that do value his effort the opportunity to still take advantage of it. Having done this type of work I can tell you that he's not ripping anyone off and I'm happy to pay his very reasonable fee, even if I had been kicked out in week 3.

Lots of Staff members going out this week: Bloom, Chase, Clayton, Henderson and a couple others. In past years, we'd still be weeding out primarily junk entries. This year the cuts are teams that looked solid to start, but are paying for underachievers/injuries like Wilson, Vereen, Lacy & MJD. The gamble on Gronk is also starting to backfire and burn a lot of teams.
You just identified my entire team. :bag:

Eliminated

This year I only spent a few minutes putting my team together on the first and last day for submitting entries. Didn't look at projections or BYE weeks. So far I have been doing pretty decent averaging about 175 pt/week. But that is going to come to a screeching halt in week 8 when all 3 of my QB's (Luck, Flacco and Schaub) plus 8 more players are all on BYE.

I went down to 27 this year (have been a 30 guy up until now) and am rolling solidly with Rivers, Gates, and Murray leading the way, covering for Rice and Vereen. Hopefully getting Rice back.

Interesting that 18 and 28 have the same variance.

Part of the large vs small roster thing is the idea that the 18s are more likely to have big games from their studs - a higher variance would back that up. That being said there are much smaller data sets at work with the entries containing more players.

Yah my idea was that a defense can't get injured and miss the game. I liked what I saw of the panthers in the preseason, and I think Panthers and Packers are probably the best teams to do that with because the Week 4 cutoff is still relatively easy.

Idea was to have 1 D and 3-4 kickers, but I effed it up by having Lawrence Tynes!

Generally I think the Blackmon/Gordon type plays are rewarded because the cut is low or nonexistent early on, yet the price is discounted because of it. If I could go back and add Blackmon, shift around my Kickers to have 3-4 healthy ones, and stick with 1 Defense, I'd be happy.

If I get to week 8... I need help getting through that week. That might be my ACL tear this year.

Was scared about this week but beat the cutline by more than 30. Went with a 27 player team and thus far all but 8 have counted (Michael, Dunbar, V Brown, Patterson, Wheaton, Ausberry, McDonald, Forbath). Interestingly, only 2 players have counted in all weeks- Demaryius Thomas and Jordan Cameron. Had 3 players count for the first time this week- Hunter, Helu, Floyd

I'll check back on Denver's bye week
I was just going to post something similar. Looking at the schedule I really do not see any reasonable way I do not make it until Denver's bye. That week will be tough, but unless multiple players get hurt it should be a cakewalk until week 9.

Looking at the combined 2 week score (last 2 weeks), it seems clear that smaller rosters dominate. Here is the make of of the top 25, 50, 100 and 150 scores over the last 2 weeks:

Code:
	25	50	100	15018	64%	54%	41%	37%19	12%	6%	11%	13%20	8%	14%	21%	19%21	0%	2%	4%	4%22	4%	6%	7%	5%23	8%	8%	7%	7%24	0%	2%	1%	1%25	0%	2%	3%	7%26	4%	2%	1%	2%27	0%	0%	0%	0%28	0%	0%	2%	1%29	0%	2%	1%	1%30	0%	2%	1%	1%

Some additional stats broken down by position make up. Average Score is total points scored at that position (so RB is score of both RB's combined). Average Flex Score is the score of all flex players, so a team that only had 2 RB's had an average Flex Score (Flex1 + Flex2) of 26.66. This is for week 4 only.

Still surviving, but I'm having to rely on low level guys every week to make the cut. I haven't been close to the line yet, so hopefully it keeps up...

QB - Vick, Romo, Geno, Weeden

RB - Bush, Wilson, Lacy, Moreno, Dwyer, Jennings, Powell

WR - Garcon, Decker, Bowe, Shorts, McCluster, Avant, Hankerson, Thompkins

TE - Julius Thomas, Olsen, Celek

PK - Gould, Henerey, Forbath, Gano

DST - Bengals, Ravens, Panthers

Players I haven't used yet -

Brandon Weeden

David Wilson

Dexter McCluster (He missed the cut this week by a 1/10 of a point)

Kai Forbath

Graham Gano

Panthers (Baltimore had a slightly better game during their big week 3)

Julius THomas is the only player I've used every week. I've used Garcon, Gould, and the Ravens Defense three out of four weeks.

Still somehow alive despite picking R.Wilson, D.Wilson, E.Lacy, D.Amendola, and C.J. Spiller. Only a matter of time at this point though.

My Peyton Manning team got knocked out this week. Here's a brief analysis of my remaining team:

Andrew Luck
Tony Romo
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Not a stellar combo, but should be solid most weeks.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Arian Foster
Reggie Bush
Giovani Bernard
Ben Tate
Joique Bell
LeGarrette Blount
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Love my RBs, obviously. I got criticized for handcuffing Tate in this contest. But I won't mind any of that if Tate is starting over Foster in a scenario where Houston has clinched late in the season.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Julio Jones
Demaryius Thomas
DeSean Jackson
Michael Floyd
Darrius Heyward-Bey
Kenbrell Thompkins
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is a spectacular group. Bey has been mediocre, but I don't think I would make any other changes to this WR corps with hindsight.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Fred Davis
Brent Celek
Anthony Fasano
Julius Thomas
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
By far my weakest position. I almost picked Martellus over Davis.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Adam Vinatieri
Steve Hauschka
Shaun Suisham
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Blah, blah, blah, kickers.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

New York Giants
Baltimore Ravens
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Blah, blah, blah, defenses.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I handcuffed RGIII and Cousins with Locker as my extra QB. Hoping to survive this week.

Also, didn't buy the Julius Tgnomas hype this year and went Graham/Gronk/Cumberland at TE. I have a feeling I'll be lamenting that one.

But generally speaking, when Cameron and Thomas have their down games (and I think they will), some guys feeling like geniuses now are going to be eliminated. It's a long season, and the trick really is just making the cut for now, I think.

Houston probably won't clinch that early...look at their record.

Most likely scenario if you make it that far is that either Foster or Tate will get the vast majority of the workload. The teams who has one or the other, but not both, and spent the add'l money on a big upgrade at another position instead (such as Wes Welker instead of Heyward Bey, or Tony Gonzalez instead of Fred Davis), will have a big leg up on you. Handcuffing at such a high price is a recipe for a mediocre finish.

Good luck though. I like your team other than the pricey cuff.

Nothing wrong with a handcuff... I handcuffed Bush and Lynch... While I haven't had Christine Michael score for me yet, you better believe Joicque Bell has been there!

WR A Johnson (3/4) Gordon (1/4) Blackmon (0/4 - welcome back!) Hartline (3/4) DHB (0/4) Wheaton (0/4) Avant (1/4) Gibson (2/4) Thompkins (2/4)

TE Graham (4/4) J Thomas (2/4)

PK Forbath (0/4) Zuerlein (2/4) Crosby (2/4)

Def Detroit (2/4) Buffalo (0/4) Tennessee (2/4)

17 out of 27 used

Flex distribution: RB 2, WR 4, TE 2

Players lost for season: 2 TE (Ausberry and Allen)

25-Man roster

Newton (2/4), Weeden (1/4)

McCoy (3/4), D. Richardson (1/4), Moreno (2/4), Helu (2/4), Michael (0/4), S. Taylor (0/4)

Bryant (2/4), Green (2/4), Shorts (3/4), Givens (0/4), Randle (1/4), Boyce (0/4), Thompkins (2/4)

Davis (1/4), Cameron (4/4), Fleener (2/4), Thomas (3/4)

Zuerlien (1/4), Bironas (0/4), Haushka (3/4)

Patriots (1/4), Colts (2/4), Panthers (1/4)

Only guy I've used all 4 weeks is Cameron and my non-factors are Michael, Taylor, Givens, Boyce and Bironas for a total of $24 that is wasted so far. Through Newton's bye week, so that feels good and Moreno seems to be contributing instead of Richardson. My running backs are tremendously thin though and I figure will likely be the death of me sometime in the next few weeks. Flex has been two WR and six TE.

Does anyone have a link to the page where you can put in different combinations of players and see the % advancing?

Still hanging in there. Hoping to get a bump from Gronk going forward. Has it been discussed how many Gronk owners have been eliminated?

Also, wondering how unique my roster is? Anyone willing to throw me a bone?

I got criticized for handcuffing Tate in this contest. But I won't mind any of that if Tate is starting over Foster in a scenario where Houston has clinched late in the season.

I agree. Although I still see Tate as valuable insurance to mitigate some of the inherent risk in this contest.

972 teams started with Gronk. About 1/3 of those have been eliminated (compared to 24% overall elimination rate).

Team analysis:

(3QB, 4RB, 6WR, 2TE, 3PK, 3DEF)

-I have used 20/21 players...only player not utilized to this point is Kai Forbath

-Only 2 players used all 4 weeks: Demaryius Thomas & Jordan Cameron

-Flex count by position: RB - 0, WR - 5, TE - 3

-Avg scores by position:

QB - 29.6 :drive:

RB1 - 12.7 :sadbanana:

RB2 - 9.8 :yucky:

WR1 - 25.7 :excited:

WR2 - 20.2 :D

TE - 27.9

Flex1 - 19.0 :)

Flex2 - 12.5

PK - 11.0

Def - 13.5 :bye:

Total = 181.9 :shrug:

My RB's are killing me and I made a mistake not including Julius Thomas. Outside of that I like my team. QB's, WR's and the TE's I do have are great. PK & Def have done well.

I think I'll cruise to week 8, but may have some issues there from many players on bye.
