Is there any chance at all that this could have just been a simple oversight on Reiss' part? I mean, mistakes do happen.

Depends. Are they suspended for just one game? Who is the opponent? How do they feel about his pass pro at the time of the hypothetical game? There's just too many unknowns at this point to say.
