Best albums of 2014 (1 Viewer)

If you like the Orwells, you may like together Pangea as well
I've been catching up on top lists over the last week or so. I checked out Together Pangea... didn't do much for me.

Finally got to The Orwells today expecting typical FFA hyperbole - boy was I wrong. That album is ####ing great! Definitely on my top 10 at a min.
:hifive:

I don't do hyperbole. I'd kill myself if it ever got to that.

 to Beach Slang

They have a The Replacements kinda vibe to them. Cannot wait for when they release a full length album.

To do over again, my top two records of last year weren't eben in my rankings. The national and queens of the stone age. I still listen to my top five (arctic monkeys, vampire weekend, drake, lords, the 1975) but not as much as those two.

I think I had Savages and Parquet Courts up there last year, but those are my current last year's co #1s.

oh... I just realized that Fink's album Hard Believer this year is really good.

it's a really tough year for me to rank albums... lots of "good" stuff, but not a lot of "great" stuff.

Apparently I didn't give it enough of a chance earlier this year but Here and Nowhere Else by Cloud Nothings is making a strong late push for me. "I'm Not Part of Me" is such a great song.

Some of my fave Top Albums:

Lake Street Dive

Wild Feathers

Future islands

Cold War Kids

Ingrid Michaelson

The Black keys

Ryan Adams

Borken bells

David gray

Sam Smith

The New Pornagraphers

Ray LaMontagne

Hozier

TV On the Radio

Vance Joy

Jeremy Messersmith

Jenny Lewis

Spoon

Real Estate

Beck

The War on Drugs

First Aid Kit

Lissie

St. Paul & The Broken Bones

Chromeo

yeah, so far that Ariel Pink hasn't clicked for me yet either.
Much of this clicks with me. Not Enough Violence and Put Your Number In My Phone are two of my favorite songs this year.

But then you get tracks like Jell-o, Dinosaur Carebears and Exile On Frog Street that go and bring the whole thing down. Minus those 3 tracks this would've been a top 5 album for me. As it is, it'll still make my top 20, but damn, with a little restraint....I guess that's not his thing, though.

It's a very solid album as were Baldi's previous two.

Mac DeMarco is really good and is currently my go-to when there's a lady in the car.

As has been the case with a little'un running around -- I am woefully behind on listening to new music.    I got this Mac DeMarco Murray record a long time ago but just in the last bitwas I able to digest it.    Been on nonstop repeat for like a week now.    It's heavily tastes like all the poppy / falsetto songs from the The Pod/Pure Guava-era Ween (which is fine by me, it's been 20 years and I haven't heard anyone do it as well since).

"Chamber of Reflection"  fills my Q-Zone with goodness.
