Ray Rice Arrested In Atlantic City After Physical Altercation (1 Viewer)

False Start

Footballguy
Ray Rice was arrested in Atlantic City over the weekend after a "physical altercation" with women inside a casino.

Rice's lawyers claim their client was involved in a "very minor" altercation at Revel Casino on the Atlantic City Boardwalk. Rice's fiancee was also charged with a crime and later released. Rice was "released on his own recognizance," per attorney Andrew Alperstein. Details remain murky, and the only substantive report out on the arrest has facts gathered entirely by Rice's representation. Perhaps this will blow over, but it's not exactly good timing for Rice's first NFL arrest because he's coming off easily his worst NFL season.

Sketchy, unconfirmed reports suggest his girlfriend spit on him and he knocked her out.

Per the Atlantic City Police Dept.'s report, Ray Rice struck his fiancee in a domestic dispute at the Revel Casino before his 2:50 AM arrest for simple assault-domestic violence early Saturday.

Predictably, police's version of the story is different from that of Rice's legal team. Rice's fiancee, Janay Palmer, was also charged with simple assault-domestic violence, and both were released shortly thereafter. "The complaint summons indicates that both Rice and Palmer struck each other with their hands," the police's statement said. Ravens P.R. director Chad Steele stated late Sunday that, "We have spoken with Ray, and know that they returned home together after being detained." This is Rice's first known arrest as a pro or collegiate.

Sounds like he did smack her and she hit him back.

Hard to believe because somehow I thought Rice was a decent guy. Hard to say how this will play out. More than likely she doesn't file charges and it blows over, but if she does, it could affect his situation.

I am just guessing but I think it blows over. My guess drinking was involved. This is the first time and hopefully last that Rice had anything like happen.

Lots of decent guys have made pretty bad mistakes.

or the other way around.

Either way a serious lack of impulse control

##### happens... Domestic conversations/arguments (booze-aided I'm sure) at 2:50 am in public are never a good thing. If Ray struck her with his hands then their should be some form of injury.... Also I'm sure that their is probably video of the incident as it was at a casino...

sounds like Janay drafted him as well?

Michael Sam coming out got more attention than guys who (allegedly) slapped his girlfriend and raped women (allegedly). Sad.

My first thought (shame on me) was that she was probably taller than he...

Second, I'm not sure how so many can jump on Rice like this. Everyone is so quick to deny people their constitutional rights... Give Ray his day in court

Shutout said:
Rice attempted to escape on foot, but was caught from behind and tackled 2.6 yards from the crime scene by the arresting officers.
TRich wouldve made it 3 yards, for sure
These are funny. Only way Rice escapes is if TRICH was the pursuing officer.
TRich would've run straight into the back of some slot machines rather than take the aisle.
Ray just grazed the slot machine but was uninjured due to his snowsuit...

That's on me. I had some US Army soldiers stay at Rice's house despite his protests. Sorry man.

In the Deadpin comments:

Of greater concern is how quickly Darren Sharper showed up at the scene once he found out she was unconscious

One more from the Deadspin comments:

Rice was arrested for uppercutting his fiance in AC after he saw her getting cozy at the blackjack tables with his arch nemesis Ray Couscous.

Saw a tweet about TMZ obtaining some footage of Ray Rice at the casino so did a quick Google search and watched the video... She's out cold and Rice doesn't seem to be incredibly concerned

TMZ Sports has obtained footage of Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice dragging his fiancee (who appears to be out cold) out of an elevator in an Atlantic City casino ... moments after cops say they attacked each other on the property.

The footage was shot on February 15th ... right before Rice and his fiancee Janay Palmer were both arrested for assault at the Revel Casino. Cops say they have video which proved both parties attacked each other.

But before the arrest, Ray can be seen trying to lift and move a seemingly unconscious Palmer out of a casino elevator.

While Palmer is sprawled out on the ground, a man in a suit -- who appears to be talking into a security microphone -- approaches the situation and confronts Rice. It's unclear if the man is security, but it sure seems that way.

Moments later, as Palmer seems to regain consciousness, Rice walks away.

Both Rice and Palmer were later arrested and taken to a nearby police station. They've since been released.

Ray's attorney Michael Diamondstein tells us ... he has not seen the video but is adamant, "Neither Ray nor myself will try this case in the media."

He adds, "However, the video that's being posted by TMZ Sports is not the complete event, but is merely the end result of what transpired."

"We'll assure the public that when this matter is fully tried and completed, you'll have a better understanding of what happened and we ask the public to reserve making any judgment until all of the facts come out."

He was pretty damn quick to get out there with the "minor incident" story. Now that there's video he suddenly doesn't want it tried in the media.

I saw the video as well. At first I was thinking she drank too much and they story was getting overblown but if she was that "out cold" from a punch from him......he is going to be in big trouble.

He better pray the actual punch didn't get on tape.

That video of her getting dragged out of the elevator had to be 5-10 minutes after the actual punch and she is completely out cold.

I use to be a big fan of Ray......this might change my mind depending out how the story unravels!

Considering it's a casino, my thought is that every inch is covered by a camera.

agreed

So what is the proper way to handle being spit on in public by your fiance?

Do you just walk away leave her there and hope she comes home in a better mood?

Do you walk away and sit in the corner while she goes spends your money at the Casino?

Do you act like being spit on is not a big deal and that nothing happened?

Luckily my fiance and I have respect for each other so this will never be an issue.

This is a vile mindset. Here's a tip, Ray Rice is an idol to thousands of people, many children, and you are defending him knocking out and dragging his girlfriend through the casino. He should have been a man, not a disgusting piece of ####. I'd spit on him too.

I'm just asking how do you handle the situation at no point do I defend him. Your interpretations are not my fault. Like I said, I'm just lucky I will never come across this situation in my personal life. Also, you talk about being vile yet you say you would spit on someone?
