Going to Vegas...

Recommended Posts

I never been to Vegas as an adult.

I'm also interested in a show. How can I get discounts on these? Something like this "O" that I keep hearing about. Anyone been to the one they have at this hotel, "Zumanity"?

Really I just want any information that anybody here has about this New York Hotel, and Vegas in general.

I'm aware there are several threads about Vegas. I am reading them. But any specific to me knowledge is greatly appreciated.

PS if anyone is there on May 7, we can partay.

I spent a few hours playing blackjack at the NYNY.

Totally hot and scantily clad women were filing out of the elevators on a regular basis. Simply incredible viewing...

Eats = depends on how much you want to spend. Anything from a cheap all you can eat buffet or steak dinner to some of the best restaurants in the country can be found in vegas

Gambling = go downtown or to a non-resort casino like O'Shea's if you want to save money. The Hard Rock is also great for eye candy on the casino floor.

Pizza place and food court are open late so that's cool. The piano bar there is fun cool. Don't go to the Coyote ugly bar it sucks.

Get a cab down to the Palms for gambling and to go out (Ghost bar and Rain). Also Hit Dre's for after hours (below the Barbary Coast) you might even see the stripper you will meet the next day (See below).

Hit Crazy horse II or Cheetahs

That should do for one weekend

I was there recently and I saw zumanity. It was just ok. I actually got the tickets free because I went on a tour of some condos. I had to listen to a sales pitch but it was at 2:00 in the afternoon so not much else to do. They say the O at the bellagio is the best show in town. Every local that I talked to who saw it, raved about it.

There is a place that has a big coke bottle on the outside of it and it sells alot of shows at 2 for 1 prices. I actually got tickets to see Howie Mandel from there. The coke bottle is close to the NY, NY hotel.

We ate pretty expensive when we went there. (first time wife and I went on vacation with out the kids. :banned::banned: But on our last day, we ate at the buffet at the Bellagio and it was the bomb. It had EVERYTHING on it. Most of the hotels had good restaurants in them. Although pretty expensive.

What ever happens, always remember that the Barbary Coast is the place to go for the 3am hunger fix. Also, GB you and your coffee, the wife said it arrived the other day and I will be sending something up your way to say thanks.

If you're playing table games on the strip, play at O'Shea's, the Barbary Coast, or The Casino Royale, home of the $3 craps table. The Royale is the coolest gaming hall in town.

O'Shea's is the best hole in the wall casino on the strip. I like to end my night there playing $5 three card ante (I have a time share behind the Flamingo so it's right next door). I'm going back May 16th.

You definitely need to hit Freemont Street (the old strip) at night. They have a laser light show. I went two years ago and stopped in Binions for the WSOP. Really cool to see the pros live. Don't take a cab down there it'll cost you $20 or $30 bucks. They have buses that run the strip down to Freemont Street and it costs like $2 (or something like that).

I also like to take a day and go off strip to the Hard Rock Cafe Casino, more of a younger crowd and party atmosphere.

I like the Royale a lot for Craps as well. Its all about the gambling there though, no glitz at all.

True. An added bonus is that if you actually tip the waitresses, they seem so surprised by it that you'll never go thirsty all night.

Ok here is my summary so far:

1. Visit the Monte Carlo Brew Pub

2. Go to the Hard Rock Cafe (Although I'm not sure why, but I will)

3. Palms - Visit the Ghost Bar/Rain

4. Dre's for after hours

5. Make trip to Crazy Horse II/Cheetahs

6. Search for large Coke Bottle for 2for1 Show Tix

7. Don't go to Zumanity, consider "O" instead

8. Barbary Coast - Late night foods

9. Casino Royale or O'Sheas for cheap gaming

10. Freemont Street at Night for light show

This is all excellent info. Please if there is anything I've missed let me know. Or any other thoughts on a show to go to. Seems "O" is the most popular.

Thanks for all the help and TIA for any more info.

If you're going barhopping/clubbing, I hear Tao at the Venetian and Pure at Caesars is where it's at these days. I bought a bottle of water at Drai's back in 2000 and it cost me $8. Let me know what kind of toll inflation has had on the same product when you get back.

Good Irish pub inside NYNY called Nine Fine Irishmen.

There is a table (dealer vs. player heads-up) version of Texas Hold 'Em at the Flamingo that I found absolutely addicting. I was last there in November and the game publisher still had it in beta testing. Supposedly, the Flamingo was one of only two houses that had the game, but it may have spread since then.

If you want to give your money to single moms instead of large corporations, I recommend Spearmint Rhino.

Aaron, please give me guidance.

drink heavily, remember to grab some food before you pass out, sleep a maximum of 3 hours/night.

oh, and the piano bar in NY/NY is usually a good time. Harrah's also has a good dueling piano show. I wasn't that impressed with Rain at the Palms. Coyote Ugly in NY/NY sucks big time. I've never been to a show in vegas so I can't help you out. Best sports book by you is probably Mandalay Bay...MGM is nice too but they don't give out comp drinks to sports wagerers.

Sports book at Bellagio is small, but right by the poker room and comps drinks. The sports books at the Wynn and Ceasars are also top notch.

What kind of grambling do you like to do?

There's also a shooting range in Vegas where you can rent an Uzi. I never got around to it last time I was there, but that might be neat.

I haven't really gambled much. Only local casinos and I'm pretty much clueless in these. So any fun games even I am open to suggestions.

Uzi sounds kinda neat, but not really my thing.

Hey BS, I have stayed at the NEW York before. I had a jacuzzi in the suite near the bed...was pretty fun to have.

1. Nine fine Irishmen...great place to get a decent bite and lots of good beers and scotch/whiskey.

2. The casino is pretty standard. But it fills up at night and a lot of young people come into this casino...it's got a party feel to it similar although not as good as Treasure Island.

3. The dualing piano bar is a must...good times.

4. There is a pretty good steak house there but I don ot remember the name of it...you need a resevation.

5. The bar at the main entrance of the hotel...lot of fun at night.

Lots of hookers walking aorund if your into that kind of thing. I'm married and had to say no thanks more often than usual in this casino...

I would definitely venture over to the MGM Grand...greatwalkway that connects the 2 hotels. MGM is really really really big so it takes awhile to get aorund in there.

New Hooters hotel that will be diagnol to yours...the old San Remo I think...Hooter Casino...yummy!

You can walk across another walkway over the street just like you can to MGM to get over to the Excalibur. The Ex is not that much fun but you can catch the Tram and see Luxor(also not great), and Mandalay Bay...MB is really nice and has a ton of bars to drink at and lots o fnightclubs with the pretty ladies.

BS, I would not let this review detur you from Zumanity...my wife and I saw it and had some of the best sex of our lives after wards...it's a very lovely show...you need lots of cocktails before you go in, althought they are for sale too...the 2 woman topless in the giant champagne glass in quite terrific...very sexual show and I think you would like it.

Ka is over at MGM and it's great.

"O" is also good but its at the Bellagio...unless you have a lot of money to float the Bellagio is going to be expensive. Yes you can see the show there but it's hard to get from 1 hotel to the next...walking is really brutal and even driving is a ##### since the strip can fill up and a 5 minute drive becomes 30-45 minutes getting into and out of the hotels...you want to think of places where you can be the whole night. Treasure Island has a great party vibe to it. The Wynn is boring and full of stuck up rich people...I hated that place...I go to Vegas 3-4 times a year over the past 5-6 years ...I'm not an expert but I think I sort of dig most of the places other FBG folks like.

Sports books: Bellagio does have nice one. MB is also nice. MGM has a nice one too...NY NY not so much.

Mirage: My wife and I love this place...they have a nice sprts book and a pretty reasonable poker room that is fun. DO you play poker?

There are lots of good tips in this thread already, but here are a few more.

Food:

Eat at In and Out Burger

In-N-Out

In-N-Out secret menu

Great burgers and you can order lots of things "not on the menu"

Another cool place we ate (late night/early morning) is the Peppermill restaurant. Kind of like an upscale diner with a bar on one side of the restaurant (Fireside lounge I think)

Huge portions, great food, funny wait staff. Peppermill

rumjungle at Mandalay Bay

We had dinner there it was very good--schedule a late reservation and you can stay in when they switch over from restaurant to nightclub without paying $20-$25 cover. Make sure it is a night they are busy though for full effects. (girls on trapezes, dancers, etc.) I've been to the club on a Friday night and it was awesome, however some nights during the week are not busy. Don't go on a Wednesday for sure, we made that mistake on my last trip. I think Monday might be their service industry night, but I'm not for sure.

I like the rides on top of the Stratosphere. thrill rides

I like the casino at NYNY, and there are some nice bars there that have already been mentioned. The roller coaster there is fun as well.

Oh, we also ate at the Paris buffet one night. It was awesome. Get a homemade crepe if you do that. They were yummy!!

I also saved a decent amount of money on some of this stuff buy purchasing a membership at Las Vegas Advisors LVA

LVA coupon list

The big one is a 50% off coupon for pretty much anything at Palms valued up to $50.

Other ones you could use are:

2-4-1 for the Manhattan Express (roller coaster at NYNY)

2-4-1 for the Stratosphere tower or rides

$10 off Paris Buffet

One we wanted to use but didn't get a chance was the "Unlimited drinks for 2" at Ellis Island

Well, that's what I can come up with off the top of my head. I'll add more if I get a chance.

Have a great trip!

To clarify in case it was not a typo its not the Hard Rock Cafe - its the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino.

Not just the college hotties (who are a prime reason it has perhaps the best pool scene in vegas... blackjack while in the pool with uber hotties all liquored up ), but the 21 (or so the ID says) to 45 crowd who wants to party, listen to awesome tunes while gambling with utterly hot and ready to go chickas from 18-45. Works best when you stay at the hotel, imo, as the scene there is a perfect base of operations.

I was thinking our next non-meet could be at the Elgin riverboat, but it's small enough that I'm sure I'd spot you. We should probably set it for the Aragon...no way I'd spot you in there during some concert.
