Shark Pool Mock Draft - #1 (1 Viewer)

I highly doubt Seattle is trading up ahead of Miami to take him. Miami has other priorities too. GB as well. You guys call it though.

Well, is there a good DB/DE worthy of this spot? That is what he wanted.
Sam Montgomery (DE) is probably the best value here.
Your guy's call on this one. I'm not picking Montgomery at 53--I'm trying to get ahead of what I expect Miami's pick to be. And on top of that I highly doubt Miami goes Montgomery either since they have other, more pressing needs to fill.
Holy cross post, Batman.

Anyone else want to weigh in here so we do the right thing?

With their 2nd round pick the Minnesota Vikings select:DeAndre Hopkins, WR, ClemsonIt wouldn't surprise me at all if they took him in the 1st round. I was debating between Hopkins and Te'o in the first, but the WR depth is good so thought I would hold off on the WR and still got my guy. There is no doubt that they need a WR, so they need to draft at least one. I think they will keep Harvin for the slot and putting Hopkins out there with Jarius Wright (who played well at the end of last season) and Harvin with Kyle Rudolph at TE gives the Vikings some decent weapons in the passing game to complement Peterson's running game. I absolutely love what I have seen from this guy. He just makes plays and seems to be all business on the field. He has great hands and body control. Not a huge speed guy but that isn't what the Vikings need from him.

Ok, how about is there anyone who believes this is completely unfair? Jesus, I'm starting to feel like Kitty Genovese. All I'm looking for is to make sure I'm not holding things up right now.

DE Jesse Williams, Alabama

He was taken by Pittsburgh
Doh :bag: I had him listed as a DE on my board and he was soo highly rated above anyone else I was wondering why he wasn't taken but I logged him as a DT on my already picked post.

Well from NFL.COM

I don't want to screw myself but their are some good corners still available.

Draft Friday will be filled with corners. I talked with several different NFL decision-makers who are expecting the second round to be littered with cornerbacks. While this draft might lack elite players at the position, it is flush with depth. You can expect to see anywhere between five to seven cornerbacks -- players like Boise State's Jamar Taylor and Connecticut's Blidi Wreh-Wilson -- go off the board in the early portion of Round 2. CB Jordan Poyer, Oregon State

was that supposed to be a pick???
No.Yellowdog said to pick a good DE or DB for him and I threw out a name at DE that was already taken so I put up a couple of CB names.I don't want to make the Cincy pick because I am coming up in the third round and it wouldn't be fair for me to take a guy I want or to plug in a name I don't want.I put out those names for whoever is going to make the pick to get ideas since that is what Yellow wanted.

@55 Green Bay takes Zach Ertz, TE Stanford.

.. and dumping Finley's $8M cap hit this year ... The problem here is that Finley is due a bonus in March. I REALLY WISH THE DRAFT WAS BEFORE FREE AGENCY! Makes so much more sense. Draft what you can then patch with FA.

In reality, I think the Packers will move to a place where they can take one of the top 7 DTs that were already taken. Currently only $1M of cap space is dedicated to the DT position so they are in need of extreme help. I think the Packers will sacrifice up to a 4th rounder and their second to move to a place higher in the 2nd where they can get the DT they like. Very similar to what they did to get Hayward last year, I think they gave a 3rd/5th to move to the bottom of the 2nd to get Hayward (and look how well that turned out) ... If none of that works out, though, I like Ertz's prospects. He's going to take a couple years to develop fully, though.

The Seattle Seahawks select Justin Hunter, WR - Tennessee

Seattle takes a chance here on a top talent that had concentration problems in 2012--the Seahawks believe this is due to his 2011 ACL tear and anticipate he will bounce back after having over a year on it. Hunter possesses the speed and route running to take the top off a defense. He adds to Russell Wilson's arsenal as the two can grow together within the offense, exactly what the Seahawks need as Sidney Rice's contract is going to get expensive quickly and this is Golden Tate's final year in his rookie deal. Outside of these two WRs the Seahawks' most talented WR is UDFA Doug Baldwin so the selection makes sense.

Hunter's a steal at this point. I don't know that I'd have been able to hold off taking him for the Atlanta pick. Would have been a good replacement for Roddy.

That's who I was trying to trade up for last night. I knew Miami would take a WR and breathed a sigh of relief when I saw he took Woods. I like Woods and he's worth the pick at this point in the draft, but I view Hunter as having elite potential and that's something Seattle cannot pass up.

Pick 57, Carolina - WR Louisiana Tech., Quinton Patton

Traded back with my eye on 2 WRs, Patton and Hunter. I didn't know if I would pull off getting either for a while but luckily Patton made it. S. Smith isn't going to be around much longer and LaFell doesn't seem to be taking the next steps. Patton is a great value at this spot and was the highest rated player on my board.

:excited:

I was worried you guys were going to take my guy.

Broncos select Markus Wheaton, WR, Oregon State.

An explosive WR who runs crisp routes, has excellent hands, and a willingness to block. He will play slot WR for the Broncos and be part of a scary WR trio with Thomas and Decker. Simply tore it up his senior campaign and solidified his draft status with outstanding performances in the senior bowl and combine with WR highs in bench press, 20 yard shuttle, and 60 yard shuttle.

RUN ON WR'S GOING ON!!!! 59. New England - Aaron Dobson, WR, - Marshall 60. Atlanta - Jamar Taylor, CB - Boise State Brent Grimes is a free agent coming off a torn Achilles. Dunta Robinson, meanwhile, is owned $29.5 million over the next three seasons. This position is a big problem for the Falcons.

I love this thread. Been following along. I played in the 2-Rounder mock last year. Enjoyed it a lot. Predicting trades is impossible but this does give you a sense of a player's relative value.

3.63 - Stedman Bailey, WR - WVUChiefs WR is in a bit of flux with Bowe possibly leaving, Breaston actually leaving, and Baldwin not yet arriving (and looking like he never will).

So, don't the Chiefs look better with something like:WarmackBarkley/SmithBaileyThey already had a decent defense and adding some offensive cogs like this would make them more competitive, IMO. :patsselfonback:

They look much better Andy, nice work. I like Bailey

Yeah, the Chiefs scored 13 ppg last year. Re-sign Bowe & Albert, and they might have a pretty respectable offense under Reid. These WRs are tough to grade. I think Bailey is a 2nd round talent. That's a somewhat realistic trio for the Chiefs, except I doubt strongly they take Warmack at 1. Maybe if they can trade down with 1 of the teams interested in trading up to get Geno.

Even if you're right, I doubt it happens. The Bengals seem really sold on Sanu/Jones being able to hold down WR2.

I think they look better, but I highly doubt a G goes 1st overall. I think if the Chiefs were serious about this they would try to trade down, and ultimately I think that will be very difficult in this draft with no clear-cut QB favorite.

One of the WRs would have been a better pick for the Bengals than Sam Montgomery. Wheaton or Hunter.
I disagree, especially if they allow Maualuga to walk. I'm probably the odd duck here, but I don't think he's as bad as he got "credit" for. I think the Bengals have far too much invested in WR today (a 1st in 2011, a 3rd and 5th in 2012) to consider another pick in the 2nd round. I also think Marvin Jones is going to end up being a very good pick for them--possibly better than Sanu.

Compare Joeckel/Albert versus Albert/Warmack at the LT/LG positions.I think the Albert/Warmack combo is better than Joeckel/Albert even though you're "supposed" to take the LT first. The draft is about making your team better. Or at least it should be.
