Lack of Trump and Hillary bumper stickers and signs? (1 Viewer)

This is the first election I can remember that I have not seen the bumper stickers and lawn signs that I have seen in the past. Obama had "Hope and Change" everywhere. There are some for Trump and Hillary but not nearly as many as the presidential  elections in my lifetime.  Nobody cares? Or everybody dislikes the candidates.  I think the latter...

I have yet to see one sign or bumper sticker here in North Carolina if you exclude all the Bernie stickers holding the bumpers in place on 70's era Pacers.

Around here I've seen a couple dozen Bernie stickers, two Hillary stickers, and one Trump sticker (although 4 or 5 of his wonderful hats). I'm expecting Bernie to win the popular vote by at least 50% based on this information.

i work in a pretty affluent area in SE PA and Trump signs are popping up everywhere :oldunsure:

Not a single Hillary sign yet, however I have seen a few bumper stickers.

Maybe its too early? :oldunsure:

Unsupported theory:  bumper stickers and yard signs were something people did when they wanted to support a candidate with more than just a vote. Now that you can easily talk to your friends about the election to friends via Facebook and to complete strangers via message boards and comments sections and whatnot, the bumper stickers and signs have outlived their usefulness.

In Texas you aren't allowed to put up signs until 40 days prior to the election.  It's not heavily enforced.

I haven't seen many bumper stickers, it might be that there are truly very few supporters of each of the major candidates.

Interesting observation. I too haven't seen any bumper stickers. A few signs in the yards of rural homes on busier roads, always accompanied by a local candidate.

I agree with this.  Especially with the yard signs.

I never understood why people put those bumper stickers on their cars anyway.   Personally, I don't care who you support for president.........and take it off when the election is over!

I saw a guy with a Ben Carson bumper sticker the other day. Could not confirm whether or not it was actually Ben Carson himself, but I can only assume so.

I agree that's part of it but the other part is would you put a Browns sticker on your car?

Bumper stickers and yard signs are kinda white trashy I think.

The gay zillionaires next door have a Hillary sign in their front yard. I travel out into bfville western VA and PA and the Trump stickers are definitely up there. Somebody had even burned Trump's name into a mountainside up along the Lincoln Highway near the Flight 93 site. Some hardcore huckleberry going on up yonder.

It would be interesting to know how many lawn signs / bumper stickers

were produced this year compared to previous years.

Plenty of Trump yard signs and bumper stickers here in Central VA. Never seen any for Hillary. Couple Gary Johnson's though, which is nice to see.

In a neighborhood I drive through a lot, Trump's timing worked out perfectly for a couple of families. Next-door neighbors had Confederate flags flying in their yard during that last hubbub about 9 months or so ago, whenever the hell that was when idiots thought the gubment was coming for their stars and bars. Trump came along right when everyone was just about finished giving a #### about the Confederate flag stink, so both of these guys simply replaced their Confederate flags with Trump signs.

I spent a week in Lynchburg this summer. That place has come a long way since my last trip through in 91 or so. Not bad!

You are half right - bumper stickers are when you want to support a candidate with more than a vote.  Nobody wants to support either candidate beyond a vote....and even then only grudgingly.

I've heard that you can get a sign and a sticker if you donate $5k to the Clinton Foundation.
There is some truth to this post. Years ago they gave away yard signs etc like it was bubblegum . Today is a different story and they try to cover the costs unless you are a donor or a cheap ******* and haunt the staff at the local campaign offices.

I live in Texas. Instead of a Hillary bumper sticker I might as well put a sticker on that says 'please vandalize me'.
When I lived there I had a Clinton/Gore '96 bumper sticker on an old Blazer I had.  Threw the Blazer away after about 6 months, wish I would have kept that bumper sticker.

How do you explain all the Bernie stickers given his support demographics?

Anybody displaying  Trump or Hillary bumper sticker or sign should rightfully feel profoundly embarrassed.

A few people seemed to liie this theory, but I'm not buyng into it, at least not completely. The INternet and social media were pretty strong 4 years ago, and there were tons more signs then.

I think it has more to do with a general lack of excitement for either candidate.

Bumper stickers are for fan boy's only.  The Trump fan boy's already have confederate flag stickers on their cars and no one is a Hillary fan boy as her claim to fame is that she is not a socialist or a psychopath.
