Tracking Trump's 100-day Plan (1 Viewer)

Trump claims that his $1 trillion infrastructure plan won't add to the deficit.

I think i've heard those kind of claims before.

Why can't I see his plans to reverse racial and gender equality and put LGBTs back into the closet? Or is he saving that for the second 100 days?
Right.  This is the 100 day plan.   The next 50 is ending the rights of gay people and ending abortion.   Day 151 is when we start killing illegals

End The Offshoring Act. Establishes tariffs to discourage companies from laying off their workers in order to relocate in other countries and ship their products back to the U.S. tax-free.

my company is going to be pissed....

I wonder if he is going to do anything about IT offshoring - since it is not really a "product" that comes back in many cases. The Disney case comes to mind because a lot of that was "cloud" based.

Yeah I work for a financial services company and we are in the process of opening up a new legal entity in India.   We are going to build a building that will hold 6,000 employees.  We have 30,000 FTe worldwide.

Did I miss a building a wall on the border with Mexico?
  1. End Illegal Immigration Act Fully-funds the construction of a wall on our southern border with the full understanding that the country Mexico will be reimbursing the United States for the full cost of such wall; establishes a 2-year mandatory minimum federal prison sentence for illegally re-entering the U.S. after a previous deportation, and a 5-year mandatory minimum for illegally re-entering for those with felony convictions, multiple misdemeanor convictions or two or more prior deportations; also reforms visa rules to enhance penalties for overstaying and to ensure open jobs are offered to American workers first.

He can get away with credit for the Term Limit Amendment just by saying "I proposed it. They shot it down".  That's a cop out.....but I'm sure if/when called to the carpet on it, his Office will say "we propsed it...it was shortsighted Republicans who torpedoed it".

The regulation thing is lip service.

His own ### better watch out on number 6.  He better know where all his campaign money came from.

His attacks on illegals could actually work. Canceling Federal funding, canceling VISAS and extreme vetting might get him to whatever goal we wants.

Notice that there wasn't any language in there about punishing employers who hire undocumented immigrants? That's the litmus test on this issue IMO. If you really want to stop the flow of illegals that's the only way to do it.

Right.  This is the 100 day plan.   The next 50 is ending the rights of gay people and ending abortion.   Day 151 is when we start killing illegals
How did you get a copy of the secret playbook? I thought that link was secure.

honest question, are silencers used a lot in hunting?  why is this bill so important to people?
Have you ever spent a day at the range?
Guns are very loud. Some are REALLY loud.

But yeah, they're also handy when hunting. I'm not a hunter, but I imagine if you've been waiting all day, get something lined up then a loud crack from a mile away spooks your dinner... it probably sucks.

I did like that fact that he had so many items listed so that there could be something concrete to get into, but then I read the first one and thought "oh, good, let's put the most impossible one first."

 FIRST, propose a Constitutional Amendment to impose term limits on all members of Congress;

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, long an opponent of term limits, threw cold water on this idea Wednesday, saying “it will not be on the agenda in the Senate” and "I would say we have term limits now — they're called elections." A constitutional amendment must be proposed by Congress or a constitutional convention (the latter has never happened). Since the president does not have a constitutional role in the amendment process, this is not likely to happen without Senate leadership on board.

I have not spent a day at the range, no.
They have nice hearing protection options, but it makes it difficult to converse. Not to mention long term hearing damage for high-volume shooters (officers/special forces/military).

For instance if you're shooting 200-300m and have a buddy on a spotter scope to let you know where you're missing/hitting... it's tough to talk with hearing protection on. They have good electronic setups that adjust sensitivity based on background noise (allow sound through until a gunshot is detected then near-instantly mute), but even those aren't perfect if you're at a range with several folks shooting around you.

Now, a nice suppressor on a .300 blackout with subsonic ammo, and the gunfire is reduced to significantly less than the sound of a toaster popping up. All you really hear is the bolt sliding.

We are going to have a generation of kids who have been screwed up by the education system.  Whether you believe in Common Core or not, changing how kids are taught every 4-8 years has to have a negative impact.
I dont think there are many politicians these days that care about children, other than their own.

I'm not sure how you can do a hiring freeze on federal employees, yet want to expand military investment, expand on reducing cyber-attacks, and set up new immigration screening procedures. And maybe I'm looking at it all wrong, but if you want to increase those things, you're probably going to have to hire more federal government workers.
You don't read very well do you?

the best pithy statement i ran across in this campaign, trying to explain the Trump phenomenon, was this:

"The elites take Trump literally, but not seriously; his supporters take him seriously, but not literally."

I think this applies to that regulation bullet point. It's a philosophical stance that is saying we have too many regulations, so if some federal department/agency wants to add some more, then they need to identify some existing regulations to get rid of. It's a way to shift the paradigm of thinking about regulations in DC.
Every single thing the president says is taken literally, here and abroad.

Trump can't get rid of Common Core. It's not a law. States willingly chose to create and adopt it. There is nothing for him to repeal.

Trump claims that his $1 trillion infrastructure plan won't add to the deficit.

I think i've heard those kind of claims before.
To Obama, Trump and bureaucrats  trillion is the new million.

Yeah c'mon guys. We should just let Mein Drumpf play out. What could go wrong in targeting groups of people as the problem? Why are you against the guy who has beautiful, and believe me they are beautiful, solutions? Don't you want to make Ger...er...America great again?

It's much easier to follow if you understand the code he's using.  When he says "impose term limits" he's referring to abortion; "lifetime ban on White House officials lobbying for foreign governments" means "block minorities at every turn", and the rest of the plan is just various and assorted LGBT issues he's going to outlaw.

Let's just focus on a few hours and a few specific proposals instead of the 18 months of xenophobic rhetoric he made as the cornerstone of his campaign. Here's a hint: it wasn't term limits or opposing lobbyists that drew all this people to his rallies. Build the Wall! was the dog whistle battle cry intended to stir emotions of those looking to blame the problems of their everyday life on somebody, anybody. Those dirty brown people must be to blame! Fear and hate mongering has a nasty history, one played out to extremes in Germany not so long ago. Here's to hoping that the good that is still out there amongst the majority of the American people will ultimately triumph over this nasty underbelly of our society.

The nasty underbelly of society all voted for Clinton, look at the maps, she won all the big cities. The rest of the states went Trump.

By the way a lot of your nasty underbelly is out in the streets promoting violence, destroying property and doing what they do best.

Can't wait to see law and order come nack to the country.

I believe, contrary to the actual outcome of the election, that common sense still exists and NO WAY will the horrific outcomes the Left expects will happen.  Anyone who voted for him thinking he was an instrument of change already must be having some buyer's remorse, since the news has been reporting that he's conferring with "Washington insiders" to choose his cabinet and other key positions, as well as floating out there the chairman of JP Morgan as his Secretary of the Treasury.

Regarding the Hitler/Nazi comparison, there is one important detail that separates our current situation with Hitler rising to power in German, other than 80 years and slightly better economic status, and that's the cult of personality around Trump already has more opposition to it than Hitler's did in his day.

As for how/why he won, I'm leaning more toward the narrative that says in the Rust Belt states (who normally vote Democrat) voted Trump because of the perception that they are being forgotten and left to twist in the breeze, that their elected leaders--mostly Democrats I imagine--have let them down.  I can't think of a more reasonable reason for that to have occurred.  The racist, misogynistic, homophobic, etc, explanation is a form of prejudice, and while it's easy for some to believe that MILLIONS of white men and a lesser amount of white women are racist, homophobic xenophobes, I won't go there.

Finally, it seems you missed my dry sense of humor in that post, sorry for the confusion.

There's a lot of population in this category - are you categorizing everyone who lives in large urban areas as "the nasty underbelly?"

Of course not, there are a lot of good people living in the big cities but a sizable and larger majority of the people living in the city are indeed the nasty underbelly. I will even take out the west coast and the Northeast states because they are just so liberal they have no choice in their warped minds. Everything else is viable.

Suffice it to say I disagree with your assessments here. I think you're making the same mistake you've accused "the left" of making in regards to overly broad stereotypes and resulting intolerance.

This is a well thought out post. Thank you. I agree with much of it. I'm going to hope for the best but it's very hard, even putting all the racism, sexism, etc dog whistles aside. Alot of his proposals are very hard for me to get behind. Ignoring climate change is one. Starting trade wars is another. Walking away from our traditional allies and cozying up to Russia a third. Throwing away the Iranian deal and encouraging them to ramp up their nuclear program yet another. There doesn't appear to be a rational cautious approach to him when it comes to some pretty important issues. IMO that does not bode well for the foreseeable future.

Has he spoken out on NAFTA or TPP since the election?
No.  My guess is it'll be like the wall, immigration, and the like...he'll say he wants to meet with the Mexican Pres.  They'll sit down at some point and Mexico will give some concessions and call it a victory.

Obama killed TPP and the other countries are looking to line up something revolvign around China and Russia (shocking).

He still wants to declare China a currency manipulator on Day1.

Trump has a fairly robust 100-day plan, lets see what he gets done, what he proposes that congress shoots down, and what he ignores:

Therefore, on the first day of my term of office, my administration will immediately pursue the following six measures to clean up the corruption and special interest collusion in Washington, DC:

  1. * FIRST, propose a Constitutional Amendment to impose term limits on all members of Congress;
  2. * SECOND, a hiring freeze on all federal employees to reduce federal workforce through attrition (exempting military, public safety, and public health);
  3. * THIRD, a requirement that for every new federal regulation, two existing regulations must be eliminated;
  4. * FOURTH, a 5 year-ban on White House and Congressional officials becoming lobbyists after they leave government service;
  5. * FIFTH, a lifetime ban on White House officials lobbying on behalf of a foreign government;
  6. * SIXTH, a complete ban on foreign lobbyists raising money for American elections.
On the same day, I will begin taking the following 7 actions to protect American workers:

  1. * FIRST, I will announce my intention to renegotiate NAFTA or withdraw from the deal under Article 2205
  2. * SECOND, I will announce our withdrawal from the Trans-Pacific Partnership
  3. * THIRD, I will direct my Secretary of the Treasury to label China a currency manipulator
  4. * FOURTH, I will direct the Secretary of Commerce and U.S. Trade Representative to identify all foreign trading abuses that unfairly impact American workers and direct them to use every tool under American and international law to end those abuses immediately
  5. * FIFTH, I will lift the restrictions on the production of $50 trillion dollars' worth of job-producing American energy reserves, including shale, oil, natural gas and clean coal.
  6. * SIXTH, lift the Obama-Clinton roadblocks and allow vital energy infrastructure projects, like the Keystone Pipeline, to move forward
  7. * SEVENTH, cancel billions in payments to U.N. climate change programs and use the money to fix America's water and environmental infrastructure
Additionally, on the first day, I will take the following five actions to restore security and the constitutional rule of law:

  1. * FIRST, cancel every unconstitutional executive action, memorandum and order issued by President Obama
  2. * SECOND, begin the process of selecting a replacement for Justice Scalia from one of the 20 judges on my list, who will uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States
  3. * THIRD, cancel all federal funding to Sanctuary Cities
  4. * FOURTH, begin removing the more than 2 million criminal illegal immigrants from the country and cancel visas to foreign countries that won't take them back
  5. * FIFTH, suspend immigration from terror-prone regions where vetting cannot safely occur. All vetting of people coming into our country will be considered extreme vetting.
Next, I will work with Congress to introduce the following broader legislative measures and fight for their passage within the first 100 days of my Administration:

  1. Middle Class Tax Relief And Simplification Act. An economic plan designed to grow the economy 4% per year and create at least 25 million new jobs through massive tax reduction and simplification, in combination with trade reform, regulatory relief, and lifting the restrictions on American energy. The largest tax reductions are for the middle class. A middle-class family with 2 children will get a 35% tax cut. The current number of brackets will be reduced from 7 to 3, and tax forms will likewise be greatly simplified. The business rate will be lowered from 35 to 15 percent, and the trillions of dollars of American corporate money overseas can now be brought back at a 10 percent rate.
  2. End The Offshoring Act. Establishes tariffs to discourage companies from laying off their workers in order to relocate in other countries and ship their products back to the U.S. tax-free.
  3. American Energy & Infrastructure Act. Leverages public-private partnerships, and private investments through tax incentives, to spur $1 trillion in infrastructure investment over 10 years. It is revenue neutral.
  4. School Choice And Education Opportunity Act. Redirects education dollars to give parents the right to send their kid to the public, private, charter, magnet, religious or home school of their choice. Ends common core, brings education supervision to local communities. It expands vocational and technical education, and make 2 and 4-year college more affordable.
  5. Repeal and Replace Obamacare Act. Fully repeals Obamacare and replaces it with Health Savings Accounts, the ability to purchase health insurance across state lines, and lets states manage Medicaid funds. Reforms will also include cutting the red tape at the FDA: there are over 4,000 drugs awaiting approval, and we especially want to speed the approval of life-saving medications.
  6. Affordable Childcare and Eldercare Act. Allows Americans to deduct childcare and elder care from their taxes, incentivizes employers to provide on-side childcare services, and creates tax-free Dependent Care Savings Accounts for both young and elderly dependents, with matching contributions for low-income families.
  8. Restoring Community Safety Act. Reduces surging crime, drugs and violence by creating a Task Force On Violent Crime and increasing funding for programs that train and assist local police; increases resources for federal law enforcement agencies and federal prosecutors to dismantle criminal gangs and put violent offenders behind bars.
  9. Restoring National Security Act. Rebuilds our military by eliminating the defense sequester and expanding military investment; provides Veterans with the ability to receive public VA treatment or attend the private doctor of their choice; protects our vital infrastructure from cyber-attack; establishes new screening procedures for immigration to ensure those who are admitted to our country support our people and our values
  10. Clean up Corruption in Washington Act. Enacts new ethics reforms to Drain the Swamp and reduce the corrupting influence of special interests on our politics.
:popcorn:

A lot of unfinished business.....
