Dynasty: Geronimo Allison WR (1 Viewer)

Davante Adams believes Geronimo Allison will be "dangerous" in the new offense.

Adams elaborates, "[Allison is] the guy who’s been working a lot in the slot, and he’s used to playing a little more outside, but this is making him a little more dynamic." The fact that Allison is healthy and is playing well is certainly positive news, but every Packers receiver is apparently going to take a step forward this year. Aaron Rodgers said he would "like to throw to Davante [Adams] more." Marquez Valdes-Scantling is reportedly the No. 2 receiver after having "a fantastic spring." And even Trevor Davis has impressed Matt LaFleur. Targets behind Adams are difficult to project, but there's room for at least one receiver to break out.

Geronimo Allison confirms his "main focus" this season will be the slot.

"I like it," Allison said. "Coming in, I've always been that utility guy, that versatile guy to kind of move around. I'm loving it. I'm getting comfortable inside and outside, and I'm going to make the most of every opportunity." Allison isn't a complete stranger to the slot, though just 11.2 percent of his 2018 snaps came in the middle. Allison could be a real handful as a 6-foot-3, 202-pound "big" slot option. Aaron Rodgers is no stranger to peppering his slot men with targets.

I assume we'll see a ton of 3 WR sets.  Either one of MVS/Allison could wind up as a 1,000 yard WR.  Love both at their ADP

ADP is good, but the hype is starting for both of them.

This is kind of a mess I'm avoiding all together. It's a lot like last year and none of the other WRs were viable in fantasy. MVS had maybe 2 weeks where he made a name for himself. I expect a lot of the same unless Adams gets hurt.

They aren’t half bad.
Sometimes in Mocks I take both as my WR4/WR5. I figure MVS is way ahead of ESB for the outside receiver opposite DA, and while G-Mo has spent OTAs and early TC almost exclusively at the Z, virtually all his previous snaps were outside. IOW, while right everyone presumes MVS will have more snaps because he won’t come off the field in 11 formations, it’s not like Allison is limited to only slot work.

The Packers have something like 11 WRs on the 90-man, but it’s doubtful the other 7 will have any fantasy relevance.

😂

They have 15 in camp? I knew they had 12 at the first OTAs and 11 before TC. It’s like buying 8 hoopties instead a decent 2nd car, hoping at least one won’t break down completely.
No I just don't think anyone but Adams will be worth anything in fantasy this year. Maybe MVS, but I think people are expecting a WR3 at WR5 prices, which MVS/Allison/Graham are going to cannibalize each other IMO. A first year head coach is not going to reign in a 35 year old QB with an ego problem... and IMO that's the issue with these WRs and their fantasy value

Don't count out Kumerow.  Rodgers loves him.
Seems like that guy every team has in camp. Local kid, small school, underdog, fan favorite, OTA/PS All-Star, “coach/QB loves him”, then never does jack once they play for real.

Allison & MVS have at least flashed potential. For redraft I’m not worried about guys who are outside WR80.

This is the key. Rodgers seemed to be having a silent fit last year for GB letting Nelson go and his feud with McCarthy; purposely avoiding guys because he wasn't happy they ran the called route and because he didn't seem to like them.

Rodgers loves Adams. He loves Kumerow. Aside from that I feel like picking the WR most likely to have any value after Adams is comparable to trying to read Belichick's mind on which RB will be the guy to own

Kumerow out performed MVS and Allison last preseason. He was hurt and when he came back he actually looked pretty good. Had a great week 16.

WR3 = WR36

Last four seasons in full PPR, that was roughly 165 points.

65-725-4.5

2018:

- MVS 15G 73 targets 38-581-2

- ESB + GA (combined because they were rarely both active) 16G 66 targets 41-641-2

Cobb’s 61 targets departed.

If Rodgers is incapable of taking corrective action, if his young WRs don’t develop or improve, then I guess you can’t get a WR3 for WR5 price.

Personally I don’t think it’s a huge leap.

Kumerow is in his third team in five years. I know it was super exciting for him to score his first TD, but let’s be realistic here.

He was the likely ahead of all 3 rookies going into last year before the injury.
And in his “great week 16” (3-68-1) he was sixth on the club in targets in an 82-combined-points game. Plus in the Week 17 0-31drubbing by the Lions, he had a career high 4 targets (3-19-0.) We might as well throw in the argument he “came on strong at the end of 2018 with the two best games of his four year career.”

Oh man, please let's not make "G-Mo" a thing... not to mention why you'd want to abbreviate one of the best first names in the NFL is beyond me
Because that’s what his teammates call him?

ETA:

wait holup

Thought I saw a quote from Adams or Rodgers calling him G-Mo. If he gave that to himself, disqualification. Nicknames must be organic & not self-appointed.

Lafleur uses his TEs, and wants to use his RBs more in the passing game. Its conceivable to say at least half of those 61 targets coudl go to the RBs. Then you have the TEs, which are more invested in than the wrs.

I just dont see it. I see Adams getting his, the RBs being much more involved, and the rest canceling each other out, or at least being inconsistent across each week where you wouldnt want to start any of them. Of all the pass catchers I think the TE is a position to watch tbh

Outside of Adams the receiver to own in Green Bay appears to be Geronimo Allison. Built an excellent report will Aaron Rodgers and will be used plenty from the slot this season.

Judging by tonight LaFleur intends to use the TE quite a bit more. Tonight may be an outlier obviously.

That may have been anomaly.  How often was he on the field?  Had a lot of positive news leading up to this game.  But then so did Jake Kumerow.

Allison didn't even get any targets. I reckon I will be dropping him.

GB Offense snap count

Adams 62 snaps  (of 64 I believe...Rodgers took 64 snaps)

MVS 42 snaps

Graham 35

M. Lewis 34

Allison 32

Tonyan 20

T. Davis 19

Kumerow 1
I have a lot of Allison, and even started him in one league.  I wouldn't drop him over this one game.  Given the TE usage, it suggest at least a third of the snaps were two tight end sets.  It could be team specific.  I need more information before I would outright drop him.  What I did learn was that MVS has the early lead for the 2nd target to Adams and Graham is bigger obstacle than MVS.

Geronimo Allison caught 3-of-4 targets for 52 yards and a touchdown in the Packers' Week 4 loss to the Eagles.

Most of Allison's damage, including his touchdown, came on the Packers' beat-the-clock drive to end the first half. The score was Allison's second of the season, though he now has just 11 targets through four games. Much bigger things were expected of the Packers' slot receiver. The main problem has been Matt LaFleur's run-heavy offense, but Allison's four looks this evening qualified as a major disappointment since Aaron Rodgers dialed up 54 attempts. There just hasn't been any evidence that Allison is going to graduate beyond WR5 status

I am rolling with Geronimo this week because of Davante's injury. He seemed to have great chemistry with Rodgers until he was injured last year so I think he has his trust.

Geronimo Allison exited Monday night's Week 6 game with a concussion and chest injury and will not return.

Prior to leaving, Allison reeled in three of his team-high seven targets for 40 scoreless yards. He was injured on a questionable penalized hit on the back end with the defender also going for the ball. Allison hasn't had a productive start to the season and shouldn't be in fantasy lineups, even with Davante Adams missing the last two games with a toe injury. Allen Lazard caught a 35-yard touchdown out of the slot in Allison's place in the fourth quarter.

Geronimo Allison (concussion, chest) "did not participate" Wednesday according to the Packers' estimated practice report.

Allison took a very hard hit to the head in Week 6 and hasn't been lifted from the concussion protocol. To make matters worse for the Packers, Davante Adams (toe) and Marquez Valdes-Scantling (ankle, knee) also did not practice. The injury reports on Thursday and Friday will indicate which, if any, receivers will suit up against the Raiders on Sunday.

Geronimo Allison (questionable, concussion/chest) will be a game-time decision for Sunday's Week 7 matchup against the Raiders.

Allison was concussed in Monday night's last-second win over Detroit, though the Packers have yet to rule him out for Sunday's tilt at Lambeau. Despite middling results, the fourth-year slot specialist hasn't hurt for targets, drawing 13 looks from Aaron Rodgers the past two weeks. Fellow wideout Marquez Valdes-Scantling (questionable, ankle/knee) is also aiming to play against Oakland.

Lions signed WR Geronimo Allison to a one-year, $1 million contract.

Allison took a step back last year after flashing in 2018, finishing with a 34/287/2 line while playing 63 percent of snaps. His 60 targets were third on the Packers, but Allison faded down the stretch, failing to clear 40 yards after Week 4. Signing with Detroit allows Allison to stay in the division, but it would take an injury ahead of him to open 2020 higher than the No. 4 receiver behind Kenny Golladay, Marvin Jones, and Danny Amendola.

Well...there goes the farm.

That is surprising... Allison was one of the few receivers Rodgers trusted. He was dirt cheap and they still let him walk?

Aside from Adams, Lazard was next in line for Rodgers' trust.

Adams, Funchess, Lazard, MVS, Rookie/ESB

Allison was JAUG, just an unathletic guy
You’re forgetting about Mr. Kumerow...

Packers signed WR Jake Kumerow to a one-year, $660,000 contract.

Talked up by Aaron Rodgers last preseason, Kumerow made four starts in an injury shortened 2019. His 23 targets were a distant fifth behind Davante Adams, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Allen Lazard, and Geronimo Allison. the soon-to-be 30-year-old Kumerow will push for a top-four role in training camp.

I fho6ight about him as I made the post. I like Kumerow as a Packer fan, but not dynasty/fantasy player. He is worth rostering, but I wouldn't expect a lot.
Sure...but he was liked seemingly more by Rodgers than Allison too.

I liked Allison, looked like he would blossom to a nice little career...it just never took off.  He started gaining some trust a few years back but it didn't grow into anything for him...to the point he kept getting passed by any number of guys.

Wish him well.  But it doesn't worry me that he went to a division team.
