Watching the CNN feed you'd think they could utilize better tech than a corkboard and team names written with Sharpie pens.

That's not a brutal group but they still haven't shown me an ounce of creativity in recent years/months. They're ugly and boring and I hope they run into Spain in the first round.

All in all, I think using the Oct. or whatever rankings resulted in a pretty balanced draw. I got no beefs.

On first glace my must see matches are:

Germany v Mexico
Spain v Portugal
Brazil v Costa Rica
all of Iceland's matches

 
I think I liked the old draw method better.

This felt too cookie-cutter like.  Better stories, and drama, when the teams were grouped by confederation, imo

 
Group A and H look the weakest. maybe C too. 

bunch of groups with 2 tough teams and a couple teams who knows.

I thought F looked the toughest, but Lineker thought B. 

stilll just a massive pit in my gut about this ####### thing

I don't see CR doing much this time around... and the way Brazil's been playing, this should be an absolute demolition.

Agree. Of the matches I listed it's certainly the least compelling from a competitive standpoint. Still...I'm interested.

 
Gotta say, Russia v. Saudi Arabia might not have been the most glamorous match to get things started.  Good for the hosts though - I think.

So if we use method one of virtually putting the US in and Panama out where we take Iran's ball and they take Panama's we woulda ended up in Group B.... (Iran would be in G)

(Method 2 is shifting all the balls by new US-included rankings.  will do that pseudo-draw later)
