I just posted this quick and dirty pool on the message boards of the two leagues I commission, and I thought it would be a good way to get to know a few folks here at FBG while killing some dreaded NFL off-season time. Euro 2016 kicks-off tomorrow with one game, but we can draft early into the tournament if necessary.
We’ll do a snake draft each team will end up picking 2 squads until the field of 24 is exhausted. The next 11 responders (plus me) will get thrown into a random draft order, then we can begin picking off teams. Here are the details on the format:
EURO 2016 GROUPS & TEAMS aka The Horses
*The top 2 from each group go to the knockout stages, and the 4 best 3rd place teams also advance. Teams are listed in order of ranking within each group.
GROUP A: France (Host), Romania, Albania, Switzerland
GROUP B: England, Russia, Wales, Slovakia
GROUP C: Germany, Ukraine, Poland, Northern Ireland
GROUP D: Spain, Czech Republic, Turkey, Croatia
GROUP E: Belgium, Italy, Republic of Ireland, Sweden
GROUP F: Portugal, Iceland, Austria, Hungary
SCORING aka How do you bulge the old onion bag?
*Make it out of the group stage (sweet 16) – 1 point
*Win your group – 1 extra point
*Make it to the quarters (elite 8) – 2 points
*Make the semis (Final Four) – 3 points
*Make the Final – 4 points
*Euro 2016 Champion – 5 points
*Your team scores the most goals in the tourney (own goals for don’t count) – 3 points
*Your team records a clean sheet (shut-out) – 1 point
*Your team picks up a red card – 1 point
*Straight Red Card – 1 extra point
*Score an own goal – Minus 1 point
*Get a hat-trick – 3 points
Most points at the end wins the digital trophy.
