BTTF 2018: MLB123746 (3 Viewers)

Are we chipping in anywhere to pay for the FanTrax?
Shouldn't need to ... that "pay me" reminder at the top of the FanTrax pages is for FanTrax's premium service.

...

And now I see what is up -- the league was created with some Premium features. Those have to be removed before we can access the league's home page.

In the past, these six fields were tracked in free FanTrax leagues, but it looks like they're only available in pay leagues now:

   Runs Created Per 27 Outs
   Weighted On Base Average
   Defense-Independent Component ERA (DICE)
On Base + Slugging Percentage Against
   Fielding Independent Pitching (FIP)
   Innings Pitched Per Game Played

Me or rodg or one of the other commissioners can just ditch those six scoring fields and convert our league back to free. Anyone care to comment?

I say kill it and get it back to free. But also willing to chip in if people want them to stay.

Free.

But would chip if that's the consensus.

Cant wait for the season to end so we can get to WIS baseball.  Keep me busy until they load the NBA rosters.

I like my team. It's not perfect but will be fun.

I'm on pace for like 1000 (mediocre)  ABs out of my catcher position, so that is new. A 3-4-5 of Blackmon, Judge, Gallo (23 HRs total so far) should be goodish. Dee Gordon and Starling Marte are running more than Hamilton. I'm going to have too many OFers, not a true SS and a bunch of Ks.

Pitching is starting slow but promising. 6 guys with 3 or more starts. Junior Guerra with an 0.56 ERA over 3 starts but none of them quality. Eickhoff, Shelby Miller, Dickey and Lackey all hopefully getting healthy or off their couches. Bullpen is a work in progress. #bullpenismess

5.24 Edwin Encarnacion

6.01 Matt Carpenter

Need some bats.  Hoping Carpenter plays more of the super-utility role they're talking about and qualifies somewhere else in the infield.
Big fan of this turn when it happened. Looking....... not so good.

My team is a flaming pile of garbage. By FAR the worst I've had in these things.

Maybe I can win some money in fantasy baseball, as my two teams there are doing well.

Somebody also said they haven't added last year's college football. I didn't even know they did college football, but that's not the best sign.

Always been good about baseball though which I assume is their biggest seller.

My team is hitting and bullpen is fine, I just need 4 of Aaron Sanchez, Drew Pomeranz, Jimmy Nelson and Marcus Stroman to come around and I'm in great shape.

Edit - Hey, Daniel Gossett is back. SOD.

My SP pitching

Kluber 84.2 IP   2.02 ERA 0.839 WHIP
Wacha 63 IP  2.71 ERA 1.190 WHIP
Price 62.1 IP 4.04 ERA 1.267 WHIP
Skaggs  60 IP 3.60 ERA 1.283 WHIP
Teheran  60  4.20 ERA 1.233 WHIP  1.65
Cahill 44 IP 2.25 ERA  0.886 WHIP

Also have some average'ish starts from Jaime Garcia and Andrew Triggs

Here's my SP:

Max Scherzer 71.2 IP 0.91 WHIP 0.75 HR/9
Tanner Roark 65.1 IP 1.00 WHIP 0.96 HR/9
J.A. Happ 65.2 IP 1.11 WHIP 1.23 HR/9
Jakob Junis 67.1 IP 1.14 WHIP 1.60 HR/9
James Shields 69.1 IP 1.26 WHIP 0.52 HR/9

That's all pretty awesome - even James Shields doesn't suck somehow.

The problem is I blew my 4th rounder on Danny Salazar, and Luis Perdomo was so bad in his 4 starts that even if he gets called back up he'd have to throw like 4 perfect games before he'd even be rosterable. So it's basically the 5 guys above or bust for me. May they all stay healthy and non-sucky.

I'm middle of the pack most places but with a solid team with the most GP and enough innings.  My bullpen is the best part with Knebal, Colome, Jeffress, Peacock, Gsellman, Watson, and Kintzler.  Gonna need another starter, I'll have most of the starting innings but losing Walker and Suter only getting through 4.33 innings per start is a problem.

My OF and 1B situations are bad, the Desmond/Davis platoon plan is :tfp:

The OF has plenty of PAs, but a bunch of meh players.

I have two really good SS and should have a good amount of C ABs.

Got six starting pitchers getting regular turns now ... each guy happens to have 12 starts right now:

Zack Greinke - 73.1 IP, 6.1 IP/G, 1.050 WHIP, 1.35 HR/9
Trevor Bauer - 78 IP, 6.5 IP/G, 1.167 WHIP, 0.58 HR/9
Sean Manaea - 75 IP, 6.3 IP/G, 0.973 WHIP, 1.20 HR/9
Trevor Williams - 68 IP, 5.7 IP/G, 1.206 WHIP, 0.93 HR/9
Marco Gonzales - 66.2 IP, 5.5 IP/G, 1.305 WHIP, 0.68 HR/9
Chris Stratton - 64 IP, 5.3 IP/G, 1.391 WHIP, 1.13 HR/9

My relief pitching is pretty weak, though. Kenley Jansen is finally rounding into form, but Felipe Rivero/Vazquez can't seem to find his groove. Way too many hurt and AAA pitchers. Domingo German is getting nice swingman IPs for the sim ... but he needs to reel off a few lockdown performances in a row to bring down his ERA and BB/9.

My offense is thin, but relatively decent. I have no decent first baseman at all with real-life left fielder Trey Mancini slumping and AAA juggernaut Ryan McMahon barely getting playing time. I have four guys that will likely qualify as WIS third baseman, though ... so maybe I can slide one across the diamond, or else trade for a real 1B. Ronald Torreyes was having a bang-up utility infielder season, hitting .339 with a .785 OPS -- but even he's in the minors now   :wall:

Gordon got some games in at 2B and Profar is saving me at SS. Gallo isn't playing third this year, and that is going to be a problem. Marte, Santana and Granderson are all outplaying Hamilton, so I am beginning to wonder if my 4th rounder even makes my team (He's my sixth best OFer right now, with DeShields gaining ground).

My starting five right now are Guerra, Rodriguez, Colon, Fister, ....... Matt Moore. Gross. This staff is going to give up 5 runs a game. Hopefully I can score 6.

I have no idea how i am in 2nd place on Fantrax, it must be all mediocre volume and my top 3 hitters (Lindor, Freeman, and Scooter freaking Gennett). Have a competent rotation but not a lot of depth (Miguel Gonzalez got hurt, Bryan Mitchell is bad, Yonny Chirinos got hurt, Biagini is in the bullpen, Cessa got hurt, Timmah hasn't panned out). One thing is for sure, we will be giving out some souveniers to the fans.

Chuck Morton 73ip 1.08whip 1.36hr9

Miles Mikolas 72ip 1.00whip 0.75hr9

Chad Kuhl 67ip 1.32whip 1.60hr9

Luis Castillo 67ip 1.45whip 1.75hr9

Chase Anderson 60ip 1.22whip  1.93hr9 (!!)

Steven Matz 52ip 1.23whip 1.54hr9

On offense I somehow have very little in the way of outfielders, Hoskins broke his jaw, Hicks missed some time, Reddick is injured, Chris Young is turrible, even Garrett Cooper got hurt, Jose Osuna is just a pinch hitter, Tapia is banished to AAA, Melvin Upton never got a job... blech.

Man, my team is nose-diving the last three weeks. At least I'll have a ton of crappy PAs to choose from or trade away.

I have 82 starts but only 37 quality starts.

My bullpen of Jeffress, Knebal, Colome, Gsellman, Watson, Peacock and Casilla looks pretty good though.  Hoping Suter and Liriano can stay relatively healthy and Zimmerman can get deeper into games, I should be ok at starter.

I'll have good excess SS and C PAs to trade along with a reliever.  I'm gonna need a 1Bman or OFer.

At about the halfway point:

SP6  Stratton, Chris (R)  91 IP,  4.45 ERA,  1.396 WHIP,  0.89 HR/9
LR  German, Domingo (R)  64.1 IP,  5.32 ERA,  1.212 WHIP,  1.54 HR/9
SU  Alvarez, Jose (L)  35.2 IP,  3.03 ERA,  1.15 WHIP,  0.5 HR/9
SU  Vazquez, Felipe (L)  32.2 IP,  3.86 ERA,  1.408 WHIP,  0.28 HR/9
SU  Rogers, Taylor (L)  32 IP,  4.22 ERA,  1.281 WHIP,  0.56 HR/9
CL  Jansen, Kenley (R)  38 IP,  2.37 ERA,  0.921 WHIP,  0.95 HR/9

MOP  Despaigne, Odrisamer (R)  20.1 IP,  5.31 ERA,  1.475 WHIP,  0.44 HR/9
MOP  Blackburn, Paul (R)  17.1 IP,  8.83 ERA,  1.558 WHIP,  1.04 HR/9

(Bullpen is weak sauce after Jansen and Alvarez. Still hoping Vazquez straightens up and gets his WHIP to at least 1.200, but he's really up and down. German is coming close to putting it together, but his mistakes are doozies.)
