Trump linked into case with Kraft, human trafficking (1 Viewer)

That Trump is friendly to Chinese immigrants?  Seems like the left should be cheering such an act by Trump.
No. I quoted two people saying the Mother Jones article didn't say she had sold the parlor in 2013 when it clearly did.  That's why I asked them if they had even read the article.

No problem with discussion of facts.  But rightfully pointing out a sensationalized headline should also be permitted, correct?

Foreign people love to buy access to Presidents.  Rightfully or not, it seems to be perfectly legal.
Sure the headline is sensationalized. Also, I don't really know all the laws regarding Presidential access but I do think if the President is in anyway connected to Madam who might have trafficked sex workers it should be investigated and we should talk about it.

I genuinely believe there is a whole lot of nothing here.  If you want to debate if this should be legal, fine.  But this is a fact of life in politics.  People sell access all the time.  I genuinely think it is humorous that this is even a thread as it distracts from much better arguments against Trump.
We know people sell access. How often is the person selling access connected to a human trafficking sex ring?

One must assume they did not since it said it very clearly and early on.

They pay her, she contributes to the campaign. She is the straw donor.
Yep:

“They’re all my guests,” she told the source.

Foreign visitors may attend fundraisers as long as they don’t pay their own entry. But only citizens and permanent residents are allowed to donate to U.S. political campaigns. It would be illegal for foreign nationals to reimburse a U.S. citizen for paying their way into a fundraiser. Special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation has been examining whether money from abroad influenced the 2016 election. There is no evidence that Yang or her businesses are part of that investigation.

Yang is also noteworthy because she once owned what is now Orchids of Asia, the day spa in Jupiter where New England Patriots owner and billionaire Robert Kraft was charged with soliciting prostitution last month. Kraft’s bust is part of a wider law enforcement investigation into human trafficking at Asian-themed massage parlors in Florida. Yang says she sold that spa, which then operated under a different name, several years ago. She and the spas that remain registered to her family members have not been charged in that investigation.

...

Reports in Chinese-language media said nearly 100 Chinese people attended the New York fundraiser in December 2017, out of roughly 400 total guests. The event was hosted by the Republican National Committee. Officials at Trump Victory and the RNC did not immediately respond to requests for comment Saturday.

The unusually heavy presence of foreign citizens at the New York event had been noted previously.

The Washington Post reported last year that members of the Chinese contingent were “guests” of an unnamed U.S. citizen donor. Yang and her family members have contributed tens of thousands of dollars to the president’s campaign and a Trump political action committee, with the donations starting in November 2017. Her husband, Zubin Gong, was also present at the New York fundraiser, according to the photograph.

Tang told Yahoo that he received admission to the New Year’s party through a package offered by a public relations agency—perhaps Yang’s firm. According to Yahoo, the company Tang used declined to reveal the price of the package, citing the confidentiality of the contract.
- Could not do this at the White House, no way. Secret Service, visitor reporting requirements and media attention alone would prevent it.

Some immigrant children were placed with human traffickers during the Obama administration.

According to Snopes:  TRUE
Yeah, Obama was not a perfect President and had plenty of issues as well. I am fine with a thread, discussion and investigation on that subject.

I am not a Democrat and only voted for Obama once. I often posted here complaining about his drone campaign being murderous BS.

Cool, now do Trump.  From your own link:

The issue of HHS’s lack of accountability for unaccompanied immigrant children came to a head in May 2018 when HHS acting assistant secretary of Administration for Children and Families Steven Wagner told a Senate oversight committee that the agency could not account for 1,475 children it had placed with sponsors from October to December 2017. The furor over that story accompanied outrage over the Trump administration’s “zero tolerance” policy, with critics raising concerns that the federal government was unnecessarily overwhelming an already-overburdened system with traumatized children.

To make matters worse, an investigation published 19 June 2018 by McClatchy revealed that the figure was only a snapshot from a three-month period and the number of children who are unaccounted for by HHS is actually nearly 6,000. The figure is likely exacerbated by an April 2018 agreement that allows background check information, including immigration status, of caregivers like parents and relatives to be shared with immigration authorities.

At least six of those children were eventually resettled on an egg farm in Marion, Ohio, where their sponsors forced them to work 12 hours a day under threats of death. Local law enforcement uncovered the operation last year, prompting the Senate’s Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations to open an inquiry into the federal government’s handling of migrants.

...The Senate’s investigation built on an Associated Press report that found more than two dozen unaccompanied children were placed in homes where they were sexually abused, starved, or forced into slave labor. HHS claimed that it lacked the funds and authorities that a more rigorous screening process would have required.
We're talking Chinese corporate and government access to the home and business of the President of the United States. It just so happens that the conduit may have made her money off of sex trafficking at worst and prostitution at best.

If one of the traffickers from the 2016 HHS scandal, or really any traffickers, had provided direct access to Obama, then I'm just guessing, he probably would have been out of office before the 2016 election.

I think a DOJ investigation would be appropriate, and personally IMO it should be about campaign activity at Maralago generally, not just this.
And all that does zero to fix the problem.  There are all kinds of tricks to get money from questionable sources into the campaign.   Trump's downfall would be he is not a careful about covering his tracks.

This thread may be the most ridiculous “six degrees of separation” attempt to “get Drumpf” yet

”This will surely be the end of Drumpf”

Congressional investigation now!!!1!
I'm going to come out and ask the question that our Righty friends seem to think are being asked anyways:

Was Trump a customer of an Asian Massage Parlor that participated in sex trafficking?

* Yang owned the AMP that was busted for performing sex acts as recently as 6 years ago, and she still owns other AMPs.  How do we know there was no sex trafficking when she owned it?

* Yang seemed to be apolitical until 2016.  Is it possible she jumped on the Trump train because she had a prior relationship with Trump?

* Could that relationship be client/customer?  If so, does that relationship exist today?  I will note that Jupiter is home to Trump National Golf Course.

* It's also worth noting that Trump does not have a very good track record with fidelity (huge understatement).

- there is zero evidence suggesting that

- there is zero evidence suggesting that

- because of knowing him from Mar a Lago?  That would not be unusual at all.

That's correct.  The question is out there though.  Let's dig around and see if any evidence can be found.  Unless you really don't care about criminal justice?

I really don't care if it fixes "the problem." I live in Louisiana where it's a way of life. 1. It tells us what happened, 2. it punishes people who grift off the public teat, and 3. it sure as hell reminds people thinking of doing the same thing that they are facing, maybe just maybe, accountability for their actions.

I also care about probable cause.  We don’t live in a fascist state (yet) where selling a business to somebody who later commits criminal acts subjects you and everybody you have associated with to a criminal probe.  That would be a police state tactic.

This story is so fake and ridiculous CNN doesn’t even have it on the front page.

I think that's interesting.  I would think that former ownership of a business convicted of illegal activities would constitute probable cause.  I could see an argument made either way.

I'd also point out that probable cause does not apply to over-zealous investigative reporters.  The truth will come out, if it comes from the authorities or the 4th estate.

Or nothing happens, in which case...nothing burger.

This will end up being another congressional investigation.  Why wasn't this woman involved in politics until Trump ran for president?  Why is she in pictures with so many GOP leaders?  Why did she donate $35,000 to the Trump campaign? Why was she invited to Trump's box seats for the Super Bowl?   None of these answers will be good for The Donald.  But as I stated earlier, what would have been the biggest scandal of the entire 8-year Obama administration is just another day at the office for Trump.
This story is going to be completely buried. No answers will be given, nobody will even try very hard to get answers. There will be some other story within a week about how disgusting and corrupt the President is. ( and apparently several other far right GOPers like Gohmert, Gorka, Gaetz )

Then they should stick to using the 'proven' cases than to use this one which seems a very huge stretch and diminishes the credibility of other claims.
We’ve been using the proven cases and it hasn’t moved the needle with the Trump defenders either.

So the answer is to throw questionable claims which gives Trump ammunition to reinforce his fake news rhetoric.   Awesome strategery there!
I don’t see why you think this is questionable.  Nobody has published that Trump is guilty of anything in this instance (that I am aware of), but there is a lot of shady stuff going on here that is pretty well documented. Given Trumps history and what we know about this case, it’s reasonable to think Trump is involved, but we’ll just have to see what is brought to light moving forward.

The right’s deconstruction to rationalize a shady “day spa” owner selling access to Republican officials to Chinese nationals is breathtaking, but par for the course these days.  What other access has been sold?

A link suggests a direct connection and even implies perhaps even an ownership or a customer relationship.  The headline is misleading.
You can argue that the thread title here is misleading. It suggests that Trump might have something to do with human trafficking, which has not been established.

There’s nothing misleading about the Mother Jones headline.

Correct, their headline is factual.  I did not notice they were different.  I use the source headline when posting an article.

This.  The story is bad news for lots of people that have lots of money.  This story will get buried even though it could be the biggest story of all.

I just want to add that when these businesses are sold my experience is a lot of times the seller retains control. They are sold for tax purposes and the name of the owner is a family member.

Obstruction of justice, collusion with Russia,  collusion with UAE,  collusion with Saudi Arabia,  paying off a pornstar with campaign funds, tax/insurance fraud, and several different emolument issues

Do you think probable cause arises out of thin air or is is generally after an investigation of sorts?
An investigation starts with a crime and follows the facts

what you are talking about starts with a person and tries to find vague chaotic points of contact to concoct a crime.

that is not how it works (yet).  That is not how any of this works.

That’s not how it works. If a crime was known they’d skip the investigation and go right to prosecution.
