Not a corporation and it’s about 3 months old but here is my beloved FSU celebrating MLK day by depicting MLK doing.....the tomahawk chop? Best/worst part is him wearing the receiver’s glove.

Probably one of the dumbest tweets of all-time.

The level of hubris displayed by the beneficiaries of economic fascism never fails to incite me to staggeringly high blood pressure.  JP Morgan chase received 25 billion dollars in bailout money and is giving people condescending economic advice. I would have rather had our financial infrastructure completely collapse than prop up these thieves.

I get the feeling.  I would rather wipe out the shareholders in old school socialist style than this though.

Whoops. I had to edit my post. They received 25 billion dollars, not 25 billion billion dollars

While I agree with you, I don't think the tweet is that bad.  Some people need to be told they suck at saving money.  It's for their own good.

Nah not like that. It’s extremely condescending and against any point they were trying to make. Especially when they are hitting people for monthly fees and atm fees and overdraft fees etc.

It’s easy to make that tweet in an effective way ie “hey here are some tips we’ve found may help you set some money aside” etc

But most people don't listen to those.  Tough love, baby.

Did Chase receive money in the bank bailout?

Yes.  Of course, the banks actually paid it back vs our discussion about GM in recent weeks

Holy crap, people in this world just love to complain.  I can't believe telling people not to buy coffee and instead make it at home is now considered controversial.

When you're dead broke and in the red by so much, and need 25 billion from taxpayers to stay in business and then you turn around, with your enormous power over credit and loans and tell people to be careful with their money?

#### that. They should put their tail between their legs and beg for table scraps. Choking dogs.

And I don't buy that they paid back the loans. I can't speak eloquently on the issue, but every fiber of my bull#### detector goes ####### nuts when I hear that claim.

As a matter of fact there are tons of posters on these boards that give the same condescending advice.

They do, but they never got in the red by 25 billion and asked for a loan to bail them out from becoming insolvent and not being able to meet their financial obligations to almost everybody they dealt with.

In other words, it seems rare that someone would have been personally insolvent here and then turn around and give financial advice without acknowledging that fact.

This game where we compare is dumb, in my opinion.  Point was: Don't be dumb with your money.  I don't care if others have.  Or even if the person telling you has.  It's solid advice.

And the truth is that I'm guessing most of the people upset over the tweet are kids sitting in Starbucks, drinking their Mocha Lattes, while they send out tweets about how the world is unfair and they can't afford anything because Baby Boomers ruined the world for them.

Suck it up, buttercup.  If reading a tweet that says 'spend your money wisely' offends you, you are a failure as a human being.

And for the record, when I say 'you', I'm obviously not meaning you, rock.  I mean 'you' in the all encompassing way.

Sure. I get that you're not saying "you" as in me. I do that all the time and people get confused.

Also, I totally get where you're coming from on the consumer end. People don't save, don't work enough, spend way too much on frivolities that our parents never did, and then complain when they're in debt. But for this particular corporation to lecture them shows a great deal of hubris, if you ask me.

Yes this one is a favorite. Also big shout out to every company who tweets out savings of $9.11  or 9.11% off on 9/11. Those have started to fall off over the years but we will probably still see more.

Hey ⁦‪@Chase⁩ why’d you delete this tweet shaming people for drinking coffee?

Is it b/c it’s shameless enough you steal $2B a year in ATM & overdraft fees from lower income earners?

Or is it b/c you don’t pay a living wage to your tellers while your CEO makes $31M/year?

Do tell🤔 pic.twitter.com/D7NOYY0SAc

I guess Chase deleted the original tweet.

Sorry. The Chase thing was almost inherently political in its tonedeaf nature. That's why it was so offensive. Regardless, I'll keep it cool. Fun thread.

The gold standard of the genre, IMO.

Two other favorites:

Kenneth Cole using the Arab Spring to market their Spring Collection

This is a little different, but the old Chargers tweets about PF Changs kill me every time.

The other point I would make is that our economic inequalities are so severe and so pervasive that to suggest skipping coffee is some kind of legitimate option to solve our country's money problems is a gross evasion of responsibility and minimization or the problem.

See a congresswoman grill JP Morgan Bank CEO. Keep in mind he pocketed a 31 MILLION dollar bonus.

I think you’re missing a sense of humor in your hunt to find an issue with everything

If you don’t think fleshlight posting a solemn 9/11 tweet is funny then this isn’t the thread for you.

So what you are saying is that Chase received an emergency high interest loan that they have since repaid to our government, which made a profit on the deal?
