Things you don't understand about society (1 Viewer)

I don't understand pharmacies.  Are they actually formulating the medicines back there, or is it basically just pouring pills from one bottle to another?  Because if it's the latter, I don't understand why it takes so long to fill one.  I know they have to be super careful about getting it right, but come on.
One thing they are doing is looking at any other pescriptions you have has filled to make sure there aren’t drug interactions that could be harmful.  Many people get medications from multiple specialist doctors who may not know everything else a patient is taking.

It’s a pretty important job as far as catching edge cases that could be fatal, even if it makes everyone else wait a little longer.

They doing this manually using books and calling pharmacies?

Doubtful.  This stuff has been online for decades.

They are also maintaining records for various regulatory agencies monitoring dispensation of controlled substances, as well as managing their own inventory.  The latter is likely also just a matter of data entry into the tracking software, but the former can be a pain.

No telling what sort of digital/paperwork their company requires as well.

And don’t forget advising patients regarding side effects, drug interactions etc.  You know, the offer you always get when picking up your meds and simply say “no” to.  I assume not everyone says no.

I’m more talking about the adults going with no children.
My wife and I went to Disney World for our honeymoon almost 25 years ago. It was a good time in a completely different way than going there with our kids more recently.

Why do intelligent people believe in a God?  Or religion for that matter?  I get some that might not have the intelligence to decipher the world around them but why would any reasonably smart person believe in it?
Although I do not suppose that either of us knows anything really beautiful and good, I am better off than he is – for he knows nothing, and thinks that he knows. I neither know nor think that I know.

Perhaps because the possibility exists.

I don't understand the need for everyone to video everything on their phones.  Is this just wanting to post something on you tube that might get you clicks or the all important "viral video"?

Would you feel the same about the belief that a society of angels live in the center of the moon and, depending on their mood, vote to provide miracles to those of us on earth?  It's impossible to prove otherwise, so it must be valid.

Sure, I guess. But the specificity of such a thing is way less easy to posit than the nebulous thought of "creator".

Further, now you're debating the nature of a creator versus whether or not one exists at all. Different discussion. And one we've had before, so no reason to muck up this thread with it.

A lot of smart folks believe in the multiverse theory, thus it’s possible your moon angels exist.

Just playing Devil’s (who live in the center of the moon) advocate.

What if they have a pantheistic interpretation of god?

So they can cleearly see their luggage.
I really only saw this when I traveled to Central or South America.  In Venezuela, they had a saran wrap machine that you put some money in and it would wrap it at the check in counter.  So I think it originates from there.

The thing is, in the US, I believe they tell you not to lock your luggage because they can use bolt cutters to snip them if they want to look inside.

I always thought that security opened it couldn't close it b/c its so backed with crap so just saran wrap it shut.
No, there are places near check-in counters where you can pay to have them saran wrap your luggage.

If I were TSA and had to deal with saran wrap on a random bag check I'd probably steal a couple items for good measure.

My son asked me why there's a statute of limitations.  I guess I never considered it, and couldn't really come up with anything compelling as an answer.

Sadly stores have decided they’d rather have the extra 10 feet of retail space that the queueing lane would occupy before feeding into the register lines.  Hard to blame them when there’s really no way for the public to act on the sentiment.

If some enterprising grocery were to implement this we might see enough people shift business there to make it more broadly worthwhile.

Don’t they own Marvel and Star Wars?  Nuff said.
No way would this work. Even if it took longer, people would definitely choose to stand in six lines of 4 people at 6 registers than one line of 20 people at 6 registers. Total psychology thing.

I don't understand our societal need to assess blame when their team loses a big game.  Twitter was full of why did Counsel pull Pomeranz?  Grisham's error cost the Brewers the game, The umps suck that was a foul ball...It's not just Brewers' fans it all fans after every big game the need to blame someone annoys the hell out of me.  Maybe just maybe the other team was actually just better than your team that night.  Ever think of that?

I don't think this is just limited to sports.  I think it's everything nowadays.  Sometimes, stuff just happens.

In the pre-DNA/pre-videocamera days, it was thought that if you couldn't identify the suspect within X number of years, then the case wouldn't be strong enough to get a conviction (due to fading memories, deteriorating evidence, etc.).
