Yeah, this new thing sucks. In the past you could get an immediate shutoff and there'd be a call from retention the next day. But this year I'm in the same situation as you — paid through Sept 2 so there's not much I can do right now.
Last year was really weird for me.
I called and canceled in late July. As usual, somebody from retention called the next day. They offered various deals, but none of them included complimentary Sunday Ticket, so I didn't turn my account back on.
I received my boxes to return the equipment, but...
Context below.
I could not get them to budge this year with the Max, so I will be sending my equipment back. (As expected, there was a deal attached to the recovery kit: great discount on programming and a $200 Visa gift card, but no mention whatsoever of the Ticket.
I was a customer for eight...
No doubt. But I'm convinced that the vast majority of people just pay the $60 a month for the Ticket when it starts showing up on their bills, and that those folks can subsidize the relatively small number of us who play this discount game every summer.
Context quoted below. I canceled yesterday, and as expected, I received a call today. Started great. Lots of talk of "loyalty" and "loyalty points". Big discounts would get my bill down to $40 a month, plus free Sunday Ticket. But as hard as the account manager tried — and I could hear him...
I made the call today: I know it's time when I see that first Sunday Ticket installment on my bill. I just straight-up canceled. (The offers that customer retention offered me were garbage.) I did the same thing last year — I canceled, then someone called the next day (see my post from last...
Our league has been doing 1 PPR for years, but I would love to change things up this season.
When you switched to .5/.5 (or even 0 PPR + 1 PPFD), did you notice any significant differences in the scoring? I set up a dummy MFL league so I could compare my league's 2017 year-end scoring to what...
It went the same for me as it did last year. Yesterday I called and canceled. This evening I got a call from "my" account manager. (The call came from Auburn, AL, for those who screen their phone calls.) After some cursory questions about why I canceled (I said money) and what channels I like to...
Assuming 12-man leagues with rosters deep enough that the waiver wire is pretty bare, and trying desperately to predict future performance based on one week of games, here's what I'd throw out:
Quincy Enunwa, WR, Jets
Enunwa had 8 targets, which was as many as Brandon Marshall and more than...
Just got off the phone with DirecTV. Here's how my progression went:
Called on Monday. Was offered $9 off a month and another $5 for a month. Rep suggested that I call back closer to the season to see whether there were any other promotions. I said OK. (Not sure why I didn't press the issue. I...
To keep things fun and to avoid team names that don't sound like team names, every year we pick a state and a team-name category. Each owned must pick a city from that state and a team name from the category. Last year's theme was motorcycle clubs, so we had some great names. We've also had...
I'm 100 percent on board with "Her" at #1. I agree, FUBAR: its premise seems really stupid. But the movie is fantastic.
Daywalker: "Gravity," despite its many flaws, is my #2. Though I haven't seen "The Hunt" yet.
I liked "Captain Phillips" much more than I thought I would.
I still haven't...
