    Fixing my commish screw up

The first thing you need to do is bring this to the entire league's attention right away. Frankly, I'm shocked that none of the owners noticed this themselves, but here's what I would do: 1) Mea culpa. Admit your mistake, and state what happened. Fix the website so it matches the league rules...

RB - PHI - Brian Westbrook - OUT

Apparently Westbrook was held out of the game because he had a headache on Friday. Now - we don't know for sure if he had a headache because of the aftereffects of the concussion and full contact practice, or if it was just because he didn't want to have sex with coach Reid... but it's never...

    Should penalties be reviewable?

There are already some penalties that are reviewable, such as touching of a forward pass by an inelligible receiver. But the basic principle that the NFL has stood by in the review system is that only OBJECTIVE matters may be reviewed - such as whether someone crossed a line or his knee touched...

    Intentionally Lateraling Out of Bounds

It isn't illegal to do this, but it doesn't stop the clock! Here's a link to information related to fumbles and clock stoppages from the NFL Rulebook. http://www.nfl.com/rulebook/fumble http://www.nfl.com/rulebook/timing http://www.nfl.com/rulebook/timingfinal Also, in the last two minutes...

    Parity in the NFL

Your sample size sucks. It's like flipping a coin 5 times, getting 4 heads, and saying the coin is rigged. I believe there is much better parity in the NFL than in MLB, and that just looking at who made it to the Superbowl / World Series over the past 6 years is not a good measurement of parity.

Terrell Owens trade for Calvin Johnson

I would not reject this deal, but it would definitely catch my attention. The commissioner's job is to ensure the integrity of the league. That is - make sure that no one is trading all their good players to someone else in exchange for cash or a share of the superbowl prize money. I would put...

Who are your week 7 breakout performers?

Nate Washington will double his yardage totals from last week. Oh wait - that'd be bad. And he's on bye... How about this - Favre will continue to defy gravity and put up 3/250 against the Steelers.

    Edelman Broke his Arm

Sorry - I thought the "rolling eyes" were enough to indicate the intended sarcasm. I was digging on the Patriots tendency to list everyone as questionable, whether they have a slight bruise or a torn MCL/ACL. To be clear, let me spell it out for you... :sarcasm:

The Early Days of Fantasy Football

My first season was back in '92, and we set our lineups by leaving messages on the commissioner's answering machine. Pickups/drops were done the same way. He actually subscribed to a data service so we could get official stats, but mostly we would check our scores in the newspaper the next...

    Edelman Broke his Arm

And the Patriots have listed him as "questionable" for next week. Ed: For those who don't get it ... :stalker: . I don't think the injury report was out yet when I posted this.

    Nate Washington - Record Reception?

It turns out the Titans didn't get the record for fewest yards passing in a game - they're not even in the top three. The all time fewest yards passing in a game is held by the DENVER BRONCOS with -53 yards passing against the Oakland Raiders on 9/10/1967...

    Nate Washington - Record Reception?

Ed: I'm not sure how the stats work. It's possible that the only reason it counted as a -22 yard reception is because Washington recovered it. I know that if the opposing team recovered the ball, it would count as a runback rather than a negative reception. I also wouldn't be surprised if the...

    Nate Washington - Record Reception?

Collins threw a short pass to Washington (I believe it was a screen, but not sure), and he caught it then fumbled the ball. The ball was recovered 22 yards back, counting as a -22 yard reception. That contributed to the Titans unbelievable passing numbers for the game - 2/14 for NEGATIVE SEVEN...

    Mendenhall

There is no history to support any conclusion either way on this. It's entirely based on gut feel for the value of the two players and how the organization has treated them in the past. Frankly, I was surprised that they didn't give Mendenhall the ball MORE this week given Parker's injury and...
