Pogba gets a lot of criticism, some of it justified, most of it not. Then he does something like that and reminds you why.

The announcers called it - Kante gives him free reign to strut his stuff. Also, I think he respects his teammates in the national side as being on his level. Not sure the same can be said of McTomminay and Fred.

My theory is its a mental thing. He can get up for 7 games of glory, but not every matchday over 9 months. Another part is the personel. Kante frees him up to be him, United needs that CDM.
Also, it goes to the unfair part. His numbers at United mirror his numbers at Juve. But his fee and it being United, he gets criticised at United and not at Juve.

Middle of the pitch, surrounded by Swiss players and sat on the ball too long. Not his more egregious error but it lead directly to their attack.
ETA - went back just now and rewatched it. Somewhat unfair to pin that on Pogba but he needed to just get rid of it. The point being - he seems to do these things - gives up a penalty, bad foul, bad giveaway. To be it takes him from being world class to a great player with moment of brilliance and some boneheaded plays.

The confidence his teams have in him and he has in himself to get out of that spot sometimes doesn't end well. Teammates are not afraid to give him the ball in his half with 2 players around him. And he often tries to hold it. When it works, its a beauty. Often it doesn't and a counter ensues.

Right after the Swiss were a better touch away from being in on goal. What a fantastic match. Thank God I'm just a neutral observer - I'd be having multiple aneurysms if I rooted for either side.
