I like it because between Bell, Williams, Archer, and Harris, they probably have enough rosterable backs with complementary skills that they won't need to use a pick in the draft on an RB (save for maybe a late round/supplemental pick.) It's an inexpensive patch that will enable them to hopefully focus most/all of their attention in the draft on the secondary and the pass rush.I guess it is good news but as I said earlier there are a ton of decent FA RBs available and the market has not been red hot for Williams. I would prefer to see them address the defense first.Ed B. thinks a deal gets done tomorrow. And he also has to carry the load for a couple of games. He'd make a decent backup to Bell if he signs cheap. Very clearly a guy on the decline, but on a 1 or 2 year deal as a veteran presence, I'd like it. He can catch, he's an above-average pass blocker now after being below average early in his career, good character "team first" guy who'd be satisfied with a backup role on a winning team (F U LaGarrette,) hard worker, good influence (F U again, LaGarrette.) He's not a 4.5 ypc guy any more, but as a 5-6 carry a game backup and emergency option? Sure.ex-CAR RB DeAngelo Williams to visit Steelers on Friday per Schefter
