Explain your position. And show evidence.Yes this!Ugly thread about an ugly week. Ummm OK. The fatalities are extremely unfortunate and the ONLY ugly thing whatsoever in the thread. It’s a GREAT thread. Cordial, collaborative, fun. Except for one troll disliked immensely by the FBG universe. The exact opposite of cool. Fix that. From the top of this forum
"Please Be Excellent To One Another"
The old heads around here generally stick to that.
Not really. Tons of deleted posts in an ugly thread about an ugly week with 7 dead horses. Everyone please be a ton more cool in the future.
Maybe the mod would be able to explain this “ugly thread ugly week” stuff
Who are you talking to when you say "Fix that", exactly? (Obviously, the mods)Ugly thread about an ugly week. Ummm OK. Peter Pan
... are there two more diametrically opposed race names than MAN O'WAR and peter pan?
jus' sayin'
long seen as a key stepping stone to Belmont Stakes success, the race hasn't produced one of that ilk since '14, when Tonalist took the last jewel of the TC.
this year's edition features an uninspiring lot, can't see any of these being a factor 4 weeks from now, especially considering the anticipated returns of AoE, TT, Forte, 2P's - and Mage, of course.
but, we gots a Stakes to bet, one with what i consider a tepid ml favorite, so ...
#9 Bishop's Bay is that fave, ml of 9/5 for Flo/Cox ... this will only be third career start, and had both previous down at the Fair Grounds as heavy fave (maiden score were a 6f victory over Preak darling First Mission) ... last out were his first going two turns in a route, and he barely held on through slower fractions than the La. Derby, as a Cox stablemate damn near nosed him at the wire. if the pace are hot today (and it will at least be hotter than his last out), then i think he can be had.
#5 Classic Catch is your best bet to pick 'em all up if it gets hot ... Irad/Pletcher are too damn familiar with this schtick to ignore, and though he had a troubled Wood, i'm gonna look for him to run back to previous score at GulPstream.
speaking of the Wood, today's #2 Slip Mahoney were my choice for that one, but he got left at the gate with an horrendous start ... failed to fire in race prior in the muck, but i have faith in him bouncing back here today ... if he breaks clean, he will be a considerable pace factor. gonna be my key play.
#8 Henry Q bypassed the Preak to slot in today ... 14 length winner of the MTB at Sunland, then weakened under the hot pace of the Sunland Derby in his followup - expect more of the same pace chasing today, could hang for minor spoils underneath - Franko up for O'neil is a combo we need more of.

coupla good Stakes running today here at beautiful Belmont Park - the week after the Derby is always Man O'War/Peter Pan day - these will be races 5 & 6, respectively, going off earlier than the usual Stakes fare - post times at 3:05/3:40.
Man O'War
#2 Warren Point are your prohib 9/5 ml fave, and easy to see why - what with ol' Charlie Appleby shipping, and Franko in the irons ... exemplary speed figs for this lot, and 3rd off the bench for '23.
#4 Verstappen is a horse on a big improve, winning his last out at Keeneland just 3 weeks ago ... that field included 4 other runners who will try again today (Red Knight, Channel Maker, Value Engineering, Howe Street - who were 2/1 fave) - horse has been very tough since Cannon jumped on, and this is my choice to spring the mild upset - came very late into Charmin pace ... very impressive.
got a huge soft spot for #3 Channel Maker, but looks like the celebrated 9 yr old has finally hit the wall - hasn't been better than 4th over his last handful of starts ... but if there are any juice left to squeeze, it'll be wrung out by Joel/Mott - CM has a very respectable record over this course.
#1 Red Knight are also a 9 yr old, but 17 less career starts than CM, and was barely nosed out by Verstappen at Keeneland - both of them closed into glacial upfront fractions set by board friend Walking Boot's Tiz the Bomb & CM (24.9/49.2/1:14/1:40) - when you can rally up amongst that kinda muck, ya got juice left.
