While at NWLa he ran on an NCAA Champion 4x1 with fellow NFLers to be Victor Oatis and Mark Duper (forget the other guy) he like Duper was a 9.4 sprinter.

Had a 1000 yard season as a rookie for the Chiefs.  Before a second season he drown trying to save some kids, he couldn't swim.

What might have been.

The Chiefs have had problems with RB.

Drafted Olympic sprinting RB Stone Johnson out of Grambling, he died from injuries in a preseason game.

They brought in monster runner Mack "Truck" Lee Hill out of Southern U, he banged up a knee, died on the operating table.

Gave stud DB Ken Thomas a 10.0m sprinter out of SJS a shot at RB (what he should have been) he banged up a knee, never played again.

Add Kareem Hunt.

i still don’t think gale sayers should be in.  overrated like namath, whose stats are pretty awful.
There had never been a more...WOW~~~~~~....RB than Gale Sayers in the hidtory of the game not even The Galloping Ghost. He was incredible, amazing, superhuman would work.

As a HS kid his 24-11 long jump best in the nation.  He was a great athlete (his older bro Roger a world class sprinter, beat Hayes)

Like a movie but true....

In a game vs my Niners Sayers had five TD's, he needed one more to tie the record. Somebody tells Coach Halas this,  so.....get in there and return the punt. (which he wasn;t going to do)

Yep, returns the punt to score.

Here is what all the fuss was about.

Then there was this guy....

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FMddevnDyb0

He was a 25-11 long jumper while at Long Beach State, his son Eric an NCAA long jump champ while at Texas, yep, the Browns RB. His 27-8 the best jump by any NFL player (been about a dozen quality jumpers)

I just realized my mistake - I forgot the numbers to support my entry.  Sorry about that!

- scored 4 touchdowns in a single game to carry his team to a huge comeback win in the state championship

Steve cherundolo
Steamin' Steve was a fantastic HS RB at Morse HS in San Diego. When he left HS football for Blufton he was the all time Southern Section rushing leader.

While at Blufton he broke all of Elbert "Golden Wheels" Dubenions conference rushing records. Sreamin' Steve's speed, quicks at 220 pound was a rare mix in in his day, a 9.7 100 man also.

As you know he banged up a knee jumping over a fence after the robbery.  How did you know about this guy?

I think Mike Alstott deserves to be in the Hall. In a league full of tough guys he was among the toughest of them all.

In a world without statistics he probably makes it.

Nobody expects bangers like Bettis, Riggins, Csonka. Alstott to have a gaudy average per carry, but a 3.7 just won't work.  Yes if in a bar fight I want him in my corner, and he looked tough.

Hall of Fame....nay~

Why act stupid?

Bo came in with no training camp, after playing a full season of major league baseball, so you can scarcely say he had "fresh legs" and effortlessly put up 5.4 ypc and a 1,320 yard pace. Three of his four seasons he had the longest rush in the league.

If Bo had been a full time NFL player we'd be talking about him among the GOAT.
And? Great player, meh career due to injury.

was he ever even a top 3 player on his own team?

Riddle me this. If it’s a serious topic then why we talking about scat backs that played a couple of years for the chiefs in the early 70’s?
When anybody can talk Warren McVea who had a five season career actually is a pretty serious football fan.

The Chiefs with the most interesting collection of RB;s ever.

Heisman winner, a Tank, a Truck, a Count, a Nightmare, an Olympic sprinter, a Preist, a life saver, a Podolak, etc....

Again, this thread isn't about great careers, it's the best RBs not in the HoF. ETA (for clarity): Not saying any of these guys should be in the HoF.

If you want to please create a Roger Craig/Vinny Testeverde thread for stat compilers. I am sure people would like to discuss those guys too.

A guy with over 60,,000 posts and still hasn;t figured out

General Posting Stuff.

We've had a few people who post on the board with the primary reason to just incite people and then go back to their home board and brag about how many "fish" they "caught" or what they could stir up. Posters who do that and don't have anything positive to bring to the board will have their ability to post removed.

In a similar light, hijacking threads for the sole purpose of killing them is looked at the same way.

Trust me guy nothing is going over my head, try, why be a pest?

Talk to me about the best RB in US history, you can't can you?
huh?

he's the most skilled on both sides of the ball, most tactically aware on both sides of the ball, perfect crosser of the ball or punching the ball in when opportunity struck, crunching tackles when needed, quiet team leader. there really is nobody else close.

I bet you're a hejduk fan.

Take to the shark pool or pump the brakes. You're trying way too hard here.

Talking running backs is trying too hard, hahaha~~~~
You're new here...maybe... and you're trying very  hard. nice to see the energy.

But slow your roll and take a look at the forum name. Then read the next thing it says under the name. PM shuke if you still have any questions.

Yeah, Zeno, take an awfully long look at the mandate for posting here. I defended you before, but you're not being very excellent to other posters and probably posting and starting threads a bit too much.

I don't even mean that part- we're mostly grownups here and taking turns busting the new guys chops for not getting it.. I'm talking about the very first thing defining the forum.
