10 bold predictions for 2011 (1 Viewer)

Bold prediction: There will be controversy this season over teams tanking for the right to draft Andrew Luck, and it will come to a head in week 17 when the Eagles host the Redskins. The Eagles will have home-field for the playoffs wrapped up and will out-tank the Redskins bumping them out of the 2012 1.01. Eagle fans will be cheering wildly for the Redskins, and booing their own for every good effort.

Nick Fairley gets 12 sacks and Detroit repeats with a DT as defensive rookie of the year. Suh is a better DT than Fairly, but will demand double-teams. Fairly is actually faster and potentially a better pass rusher than Suh. Fairley will be able to take advantage and end up with more sacks than Suh. Suh was on pace for about 15 sacks until teams realized they had to double-team him.

1. Jamaal Charles does not eclipse 1100 rushing yards

-I expect the Chiefs to have a down year because of a harder schedule, and I also expect Haley to continue to limit Charles’ touches. I think Charles is a great talent, but this isn’t a great year for him.

2. Rashard Mendenhall finishes as a top-4 fantasy back.

-With a healthy Willie Colon, the Steelers run blocking should be much better. Add a healthy Roeth, and teams won’t be able to load up in the box like they did for the first 4 weeks of last season. Combine that with the trust the coaching staff has shown Mendenhall as a goal line back, and I expect his YPC and touchdowns to increase, and I expect the Steelers to have a lot of late leads.

3. The Panthers finish ahead of the Bucs in the NFC South.

- Tampa Bay gets caught up in its own hype and stumbles out of the gate. Meanwhile, the Panthers utilize better luck and the core of a team that has traditionally been very good, and turn to the ground game to win at least 8 games.

4. The Texans win the AFC South

-This probably won’t happen since the Texans are perennially disappointing, but on paper, they have the talent to fix their defense and a quality offensive core intact. Combine this with questions over Manning’s health, and the Texans’ time is now.

5. Hakeem Nicks is the top fantasy receiver in the NFL.

-Nicks is a physical presence with a nose for the end zone and a great connection with Eli Manning. If he stays healthy, I’ll predict 90-1300-14

6. Ryan Williams out-performs Mark Ingram this season.

-I’ve never been a fan of Ingram, and even though he’s in what appears to be a perfect situation, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Ivory and Thomas begin to take some of his carries.

7. The Lions finish ahead of the Bears.

-This prediction isn’t that bold, but I think the new Special Teams rules hurt the Bears more than any other team, and they won a lot of close games last year. I think the opposite is true of Detroit.
Nicks is not really bold

Josh Freeman, LeGarrette Blount, Mike Williams, and Kellen Winslow will all finish with more fantasy points than any Colt at their positions.

Randy Moss leads the league in receptions and the James Beard Foundation's Humanitarian of the Year Award.

1. Ray Rice finishes #1 amongst RB's by over 50 fantasy points.2. Larry Fitzgerald finishes #1 amongst all WR3. Sam Bradford finishes top 5 amongst QB's4. Steven Jackson finishes top 5 amongst RB's5. Lesean McCoy, Mike Vick, Jeremy Maclin, and Desean Jackson all finish out of the top 10 at their position.6. Marshawn Lynch will easily finish amongst top 10 RB's due to sheer volume of carries7. Jimmy Graham will not finish amongst top 10 TE's8. Mikel Leshoure will win ROY9. Quizz Rogers will outscore all other rookie running backs weeks 13-1610. Arian Foster will not finish top 10 due to injury.

Your right, no way Detroit wins this division. Green Bay is the best team in the NFL right now. They won the Super Bowl last season and return some of their very best players. Gonna be a great year to be a Packer fan.

1. Adrian Arrington becomes New Orleans latest threat at WR, and outperforms Robert Meachem

2. John Beck throws for a surprising 3200 yards with 18 TDs and 9 INTs

3. Detroit Lions go to the NFC championship game

4. LaGarette Blount goes down with an injury and Allan Bradford creates a RB by committe rushing for 90 yards a game

5. Vincent Brown wins ROY with a stellar rookie campaign in San Diego

7. Peyton Manning very surprisingly has his worst season only starting 9 games

8. Jason Campbell is a late bloomer, leads the Raiders to division title

9. Michael Turner hits the wall, and it Gartrell Johnson who benefits

10. Your super bowl winning....Houston Texans

1.Jets Head Coach Rex Ryan gets suspended after punching Bill Belichick during post-game handshake. Rex is furious because Bill embarrassed the Jets by running up the score. Ryan was fuming and his frustrations came out when he met Bill at midfield. Rex say's,"Hey Bill, see if you can run up the score again from your hospital bed you F'ing SonofBiotch" and he proceeds to knock Belichick to the ground where he gets in a complimentary kick to his backside. Ryan gets suspended for the remainder of the season.

2. Kenny Britt is his own worst enemy. He gets in trouble again after dodging the bullet and not getting suspended for his last fiasco. He goes to Rehab but the Titans say that's it and release him.

3. Albert Haynesworth becomes a model football player under Belichick's tutelage and plays the whole season without any issues or being in the news.

4.Don't like this one but something tells me God tabs Raiders owner Al Davis and he dies during the season. The team uses it as a rallying point and wins the AFC West. If this one gets deleted it's ok but I've been having these thoughts about Al Davis recently and frequently. I sincerely hope it doesn't happen but I can't ignore these visions. Sorry to the staff if posting this is inappropriate.

5.WR Julio Jones scores more TD's than Roddy White.

6. WR Lance Moore of the Saints ends up being one of the steals in redraft leagues. He leads all Saints receivers in catches, yardage and TD's. He makes the Pro Bowl.

7. The NFC South put 3 teams in the playoffs. The Falcons,Saints and Buccaneers.

8. Two teams struggle badly and have internal issues and their head coaches get fired during the season. Who are they? Titans Mike Munchak and Washington's Mike Shanahan. Shanahan's boy,Kyle, gets the axe along with his dad.

9. The Houston Texans somehow find themselves in the AFC title game and end up making their first appearance in a superbowl. Now THAT'S BOLD.

10. RB Jalen Parmele of the Ravens, their short-yardage/goalline back, score 15 TD's and knocks Ray Rice's fantasy stats for a loop.

Couple of you like/mention Kellen Winslow this year, including Hucks. Any notes there or followup is appreciated. Thanks.
always like Winslow and he's a cheap option with good stats...I don't get the love that he's going to do appreciably better this year though.

I'm going to go the opposite (as we talked in the Lions thread) and say Fairley is only in on 20-30% of Detroit's defensive snaps. In addition, I'll go out on a limb and predict Lawrence Jackson leads the Lions in sacks this year. Ryan Fitzpatrick is a top 5 QB

Blount finishes as a top top 5 RB (non ppr)

Greg Little is the top rookie WR, finishing well ahead of Green and Jones

The Packers win more games than the Vikings and Bears combined.

The team that wins the NFC West will finish 6-10.

Five for teams:

1. The Redskins win the Luck Lotto.

2. Cleveland Browns make the playoffs.

3. No team in the NFC North finishes with a losing record.

4. Broncos win the AFC West.

5. Eagles flirt with a perfect season but lose to New England in week 12.

Five for players:

1. Chris Johnson has the best second half of the season ever.

2. Dez Bryant finishes top 3 WR.

3. Top FF QB = Ben Roethlisberger

4. Vince Young reminds us why he was a winner.

5. Tiki Barber and Brett Favre play significant roles on losing teams.

I know this is the bold predictions thread, but as somehow who follows the Redskins very closely, I can assure you this will not happen. Unfortunately, we will be good enough to get a draft pick between 10 and 24.

NFC NORTH BOLD PREDICTIONS

Green Bay will get beat by Detroit at least once this season.

Green Bay will not get back to the Super Bowl this season.

Detroit will be in playoff contention at least until the final week of the season.

Detroit's defense will finish the season, at worst, ranked #2 in the division.

Chicago fails to make the playoffs one season removed from a first round bye last post season.

Cutler will be suffer greatly and often be injured this season.

Minnesota will be out of the divisional race by week 15

Minnesota will be asked about the possibility of Brett Favre returning by Halloween
Way to step out on a limb with these.
They're predictions. And they're bold.
Don't think the OP was talking about bolding the text. ;)

1. Jets, Ravens, Chiefs and Bears don't make the playoffs

2. 49ers have a top 3 defense (Aldon Smith wins ROY)

3. Colts still win the division, Texans win 6 or 7 games

4. Vincent Jackson is the #1 fantasy WR

5. Andrew Luck pulls an Eli Manning/John Elway and refuses to play for Cincinnati forcing a draft day trade

6. Jimmy Clausen doesn't start one game this season (sorry not that bold)

7. Julio Jones drops the deciding ball in the NFC championship game that keeps the Falcons out of the Bowl

Matt Ryan will not take the next step.

Mike Wallace disappoints and is shown to be a deep threat, not a #1 WR.

The Cowboys lead the league in points.

Detroit (8-8) wins games late and loses games late due to a high-powered offense with no move-the-chains runner.

This will be Year 1 of the Fantasy TE breakout.

Cincy's offense will look really good late in 2011.

Offensive ROTY: Ingram

Defensive ROTY: J.J. Watt

Offensive POTY: Romo
