14-teamer. SJax @1.02 then Gates @2.13 Thoughts? (1 Viewer)

Drafting Gates @2.13 seems a bit high to me even though I really like his Value this season based on my projections.

Do you think taking Gates here cripples your team from a RB2 or WR1 perspective?

What if you drafted @3.13 &4.02 instead of 3.02 &4.13?

I'm just trying to gauge the consensus of Gates value with the 2 scenarios posed.

In leagues 12 teams or bigger, Gates is always gone by the middle pick of the 3rd round. Always.

So to take Gates a couple picks earlier is perfectly fine. You just lose a tiny bit on the RB/WR you would have taken.

If you decide to go RB+WR you obviously cant get gates.

For the record, I did 12 team Banzai draft last night - I took Gates at 3.03. (#27) and you would be taking him at #27 in a 14team draft.

I really like Gates this year. With KC's uncertainty, Alge's uncertainty and Heap hurt all the time I think his value is very high. If you can't get Smith/Johnson/Holt, I'd take Gates and then go WR. Depends on your lineup structure though.

Trying to get any additional thoughts here.

I could only see Gates going in the 2nd round if you had either LT or SJax right now. The other backs have question marks and I can't see someone taking the risk on them and adding Gates in the 2nd round.
