1B Albert vs Lance..bang for the buck? (1 Viewer)

I have the first overall in a 10 team league. We are drafting on Monday.

I keep going over the draft and knowing the way my league drafts if I take Hanley #1 I still could get Lance Berkman at the bottom of the second.

My thinking is that Hanley and Berkman will outperform Pujols and the shortstop that is left over. I know that at least 5 shortstops will be gone by the time it gets back to me.

I think you need to look at it more holistically than that. If it were a two round draft and all you started were 1B/SS; then your analysis would be prudent. But it's a much longer draft with many more starting positions. So the logical answer is that, since 5 SSs will probably be off the board, you would do better to take another position at 2.20.

Position scarcity is less of a factor in smaller leagues and probably shouldn't be a major consideration in a 1.01 decision.
