2 Bye Weeks? (1 Viewer)

I was curious as to what people are doing if the NFLPA gets 2 bye weeks in this 18 game schedule and how some think it will affect fantasy football.

Will your league expand rosters to help with byes? or perhaps change some standard positions to flex positions? Maybe nothing at all. Has your league even thought about this yet or just rolling with and seeing what happens. Curious about people's thoughts on the matter.

I'm not planning on making any changes to my league's roster. People will now be screwed twice as much. They can figure it out. :lmao:

i think with a longer schedule and double byes for each team, it'll just mean more adds and drops, hence more $ paid for leagues that have transaction fees. So you could reduce the transaction fee, or increase the add/drop allocations. For leagues that use auctions to bid on free agents during the season, the auction cap can be increased.

Expanding rosters probably won't do much because it just dilutes the free agent pool regardless of # of byes.

Rosters will probably expand. The draft will be longer. People at the draft will be drunker than previous years due to the increased length of the draft.

That's about it.

keep the FF season length the same with 18 nfl games or add a week?

I guess it will also depend on when the bye weeks and last bye week fall.

When the NFL goes to 18 games with 2 bye weeks we will follow suit. When they expand their rosters above 53, we will follow suit.(We currently have 53 man rosters and 8 man practice squads)Our 12 team league will keep the same divisonal 1 v 4 and 2 v 3 and then confenerence championship followed by the Fantasy Bowl we will just move it back 3 weeks.2 six team divisions will allow for everyone to play against one another 1x and then against your own conference another time. Without the 2nd bye week this would have wreaked havoc on fantasy schedules

This won't be the 1st time there was one year in the early 90's where there was 2 bye weeks.

I remember that year because they did byes by division and I remember some guy having only 3 RB's rostered and 2 of them from the AFC Central.

I once heard of a league that let players on bye just get the same points they scored the week before...

I've wondered about the idea of giving bye week players their season average points...

This is way premature. Heard on one of the sports stations that it could be that one of the byes would be between the pre-season and the start of the regular season. If that is the case there would still only be 1 inseason bye.

As long as there are not byes during the FF playoffs I don't think there will be much impact. Those years with 31 teams were difficult.

A 20-week season is big difference compared to a 17-week season. Regular fantasy season could conceivably go to week 16 in that scenario followed by playoffs in weeks 17, 18, and 19 :goodposting:

Drafters will buy more beer and food, waitresses will be tipped better. This is how you stimulate the economy!

I think this is the biggest impact. Later playoffs and more "regular season" FF games. a 16 week schedule makes a lot of difference. In a 12 team, 3 division league, you could play the teams within your division 3 times - actually creates a tough call if you just go to week 16 as you'd have 9 intradivision games and 7 outside, so you wouldn't play one team? Or 2 divisions of 6 teams, each team outside your division once, the 5 within twice? Does a 9 team league make sense where you play every other team twice? We won't be adding roster space but we'll have to rethink scheduling. Plus, do you want to play intradivision games during the bye weeks? When would the bye weeks fall?

While 8 other teams x 2 games each = 16 games, this would not work because with 9 teams HTH, 1 team would have a bye each week.
12 team league set-up with 2 divisions becomes optimum with a 16-game schedule. Play each team in your division twice (10 games) and each team in the other division once (6 games). Every other format has some sort of issue in terms of making a balanced schedule.-QG

Probably add an additional injury spot. It has been mentioned that the NFL could go to a more formalized DL where players are out x amount of weeks. This would be kind of like the way MLB handles their DL.
