2 Players I have grown to admire (1 Viewer)

This is something I have to get off my chest...

Chad Johnson, like his antics or not, he wants to win so bad and hates losing so much I really am starting to look past the facade. He calls people out, plays jokes, has a blonde mohawk, mails pepto-bismal to the other team, I know, but he is a competitor and I like that in him. The post-game interviews after a loss you can see he's visibly shaken, like he totally expected to win and is in shock that they didn't. Now the rest of that team, you can have, but I respect Chad Johnson.

and

Al Wilson is a monster. Everytime I see him play, I wish he was in Black & Gold. He's not flashy and doesn't stand at mid-field talking trash (see Porter, Joey). He goes in, dominates the line of scrimmage and shuts down the other team's running game. He, to me is the proto-typical LB and one I would build a defense around. He's a tackling machine.

that's it, just thought I'd give props to 2 players on other teams.

I agree with you about Wilson.

Chad's act was cool at first, but is quickly becoming a sad immature display.

Chad's act is stupid.

It is an axiom in football, above all other games, that you don't give your opponents locker room bulletin board material. It just makes them angrier and more determined to beat you. Above all other games, football is a game of emotion. Because, although emotion can't make you much faster, it CAN make you much stronger.

2 quick ones from a Colts homer:

Hines Ward- plays his heart out and is a devastating blocker downfield.

Brian Dawkins- plays mad and delivers a mean blow almost every time.

Wilson is great. But did you see him get stiff armed to ground by Maroney in the Denver/NE game? I think that says more about Maroney (that he's a badass) than it does Wilson, but it was still very surprising.

Yeah and Bettis steam-rolled Urlacher on one play in '05. I didn't lose one ounce of respect for what a total bad-### Urlacher is.The guy who posted about Brian Dawkins is dead-on. I despise the Iggles, but Bdawk is a man among boys.

Not a Lions fan, not an owner, but I saw him play my Jets and I am reallly digging the Mike Furrey story. A little guy, without great physical skills, making catches over the middle, throwing his body into blocks, understanding the system. Reminds of the late, great Wayne Chrebet.

I also think Champ Bailey is playing that position at a historic level right now, and I don't believe I have ever seen him interviewed or quoted. He is like Batman out there -- silent and deadly. I dig it.

I'll give you one out of two. Wilson's a monster who brings it every play of every game. Chad is a sideshow self-promoter. I'm sure he wants to win (who doesn't?) but doing it where he's the focal point appears to be his main goal.

See I disagree. I'm sure everyone would like to win, but there are a lot of players that don't seem too concerned if they don't. Chad, to me, is a guy who is devastated after a loss. He has his personality issues, but in the end, I would take him on my team.

As an Eagles homer, Tiki Barber tops my list. He's always been a good player, but it's just amazing how much he has elevated his game in the past three years. The way he rips off 8 and 9 yard runs with such ease. It's a joy to watch him play, I'll be sad to see him leave.

How do you know he wants to win so much? Because the media swarms around him since they know they'll get a good story? He's doesn't seem too happy after a win when he doesn't get used too much. Also, his sideline performance during last year's playoff loss wasn't overly impressive.I do think the guy wants to win but I also feel he's much more comfortable winning when he's the center of attention. They need to go hand and hand for him to be happy.

It's really just my opinion, nothing scientific. I'm trying to look past the obvious #####-ishness that defines CJ now b/c of his "look at me" persona.

You can disagree, but my take is he's a guy who will compete until the end unlike, say, Moss, Randy.

I admire Warrick Dunn. Tough, gutsy and a huge heart on and off the field.

A true class act and an example of what a professional athlete should strive to be.

Peyton Manning is a man among boy's when he is on the field. He has total control of the game. A master of his trade, he knows what the defense will do before the defense themselves knows. When all is said and done he will go down as the best ever. All he needs is a ring to quell all the doubters. I hold Tom Brady and Dan Marino in the same level. But Manning is taking it even higher.
