2 round mock draft in the books ! (1 Viewer)

I'm 1 pick late but Buffalo takes Ngata. Losing Pat Williams KILLED their D every bit as much as Spikes getting hurt. They need the big guy in the middle.

With the 7th pick, the Raiders select A.J. Hawk, LB, Ohio St.

Oakland needs defense as much as they need a QB, and Hawk is clearly the BPA at this point. He's a perfect fit in Oakland - physical, mean looking guy - raider fans will love him.

OK, Buffalo up at #8 - they need tackles on both sides of the ball. Winston Justice? Ngata? A different OT?
Buffalo.....(Possibilties- Ngata/Huff/OT)I'm not very passionate about anything here to be honest. I live near Buffalo (In Canada) I am hearing they would like to strengthen the Secondary.

I go Huff.

Ngata to the Bills make the most sense...

Buffalo -

Need: OL, WR2, DT

Options: Nagata, Justice

I'm going with Justice here. A better OL gives their young QB time to throw, gives McGahee more room to run, and Evans time to get deep.

Every draft I've seen has Ngata here and it makes sense with how bad Buffalo's run D was last year. That's my pick.

And I gotta run soon but if I'm not back when Detroit is picking, my vote is Anyone but Cutler. Preferrably Winston Justice.

I'm too slow and couldn't convince ya'll anyhoo, but I love Ngata to Oakland. He is a freak, and at this point in the draft you seek freaks. Hawk is awesome, but not quite a freak. Good pick either way.
I like Ngata to Oakland as a possibility too, the only thing that swayed me is that I heard there were some questions about his motor at the combine, that there was a perception that he might be lazy. Don't know if this is true at all, but it keeps him a notch behind Hawk and Williams in my mind at this juncture.

Brandow makes a strong argument against this pick, but I like it more than I like his argument. Go for it. Ngata a Bill. Brandow refers to him as a fat DL. He is amazingly lean for his weight. Body fat lower than several 300 pound DLs in the draft. Freak.

heard the same, fair enough.

With the 8th pick, Buffalo selects Haloti Ngata, DT, Oregon

The guy is just too big and strong, and fits a need too well not to go here.

That brings Detroit up. A WR perhaps? OK, that's getting old, sorry.

Cutler? I don't think they're giving up on Joey yet. Winston Justice? They could use an OT for sure. DE - Hali, Kiwanuka, etc? Redding is not a great DE, do they start Hall and Edwards?

Detroit

Needs: OL, FS, QB, LB

Options: Huff, Justice, Cutler, Greenway, Jimmy Williams, Santonio Holmes

I'll go with Huff here. Playmaker in the secondary, I've seen this often and love the pick.

Michael Huff is their pick if Mario Williams, Ferguson and Hawk are off the board. He has the versatility to play every DB spot, can hit, run, cover and make big plays. He is the perfect Cover 2 DB and will be the Lions pick if the other three I mentioned are gone.

The key to Marinelli's defense is a speed-ruching DE. Detroit doesn't have one, and their whole defense is predicated on rushing the passer. They've got to go with a DE here, maybe Kiwi.

I'm leaning towards Justice here - sell me on Cutler or Huff, otherwise WJ goes here.
I'm fine with Justice, he's a major upgrade to Butler, gives Harrington time, KJ room, etc. But, Huff would start immediately at FS, has the cover skills to play CB in the NFL, and gives the entire defense a lift.

Either one is a good pick.

With the depth at OT, they can get a lineman in Round 2 and 3! They need impact players and Huff is the best left IMO...

Torn between Huff and Justice. Cannot think of a third candidate. I would lean towards the position with less depth in the draft, but both are deep. The talent seems better at safety, barely, so I'll go with Justice.

On a side note, I think he'll be every bit as good as D'Brick in a couple years.

I had Hali to Detroit in my 1.0 mock - any chance that stands up?

Chad Greenway OLB Iowa. the Lions NEED front 7 help. they've gone the "next ronnie lott " route before and while it did solidify a position it didn't get them to the ultimate goal. It all starts in the front and Lehman flanked by Greenway and Bailey gives the Lions some serious speed and ability at the LB position. Greenway has a mean streak, if anything he's too aggressive and Marinelli/ Millen will fall in love with him. This is too high to take Justice and I don't see them going with Cutler. If cutler is available in teh real draft, this is an obvious trade spot as the Lions would be happy with Justice, Manilakanulaka, Hall, Greenway or Huff.

OL and Safety are equally deep. The safeties are a little freakier in talent, and there is a bigger drop off from Justice to round 2 OTs than there is in Huff and round 2 Safeties, imo...

Tough one here, lot of divergence in opinion. The homers seem to want Huff, while the draftniks want Justice here. I personally like a DE with this pick, but I don't know if that's the way they'll go.

Greenway's been slipping, and I can see Detroit signing Levar Arrington.

Great. Muddy the picture further. :D

they have both James Hall and Kalimba Edwards and there are some good FA choices at this position

Man, I'd LOVE to see arrington here.

Lions can't afford to pass on a prospect like Cutler. He has all the tools and I have a feeling he would be a good fit for Martz's system.

OK, another tough one here, but....

With the 9th pick, the Lions select Winston Justice, OT, USC

3 Trojans in the top 10. This pick fits a need, and I personally think Justice will end up being as good or better than Ferguson, who I feel is a little overrated in this draft.

That brings up Arizona who needs include RB (?), OL, TE, etc...

Millen can't afford another mistake like Cutler. I think he goes safe and conservative. Huff put up a great time. He is versatile and could play other positions in the Secondary.

I think he would have been my 2nd choice.Need some help with AZ here. I originally liked Davis to AZ, but with SF having selected him at 1.6, that leaves AZ without an impact player on the board at that spot. Do they go with LenDale or DeAngelo Williams here? I persoanlly don't know that they will with Arrington in the fold. They need OL, but is there value here? Tough spot.

Zona........D. Williams/ White

Williams. They need a run game to give Warner some time. Great Wr's should keep the box clean. Williams is a better pass cathing back and fits the D. Green mold.

Arizona

Needs: OL, DT, RB (maybe a blocking TE, but Bergen is a good receiver)

Options: Huff, Cutler, Greenway, Bunkley, DeAngelo

Going off the needs list here and going BPA, Michael Huff.

Combine him with Adrian Wilson and you have a scary Defensive backfield

I've had LenDale to AZ since early January. He needs to answer questions and have a solid workout, but the projection is based on a series of leakages from AZ papers supposedly maybe reportedly from AZ insiders.

DeAngelo should grade higher than White and Denny may be in love with him for all we know.

Robert Griffith is almost finished. Huff would be great here too.

My vote would be fore Lindale White, They need a running game to go with those outstanding receivers. JJ and White RBBC would fit nicely.

I was looking at Huff too - maybe they trade down with the Rams.

edit: disregard. I thought this was a popular-vote-makes-the-pick thing. That's what I get for not reading the first post

Arizona's rush offense last year was one of the worst the league has ever seen.

Having said that, the fact that Justice and Brick are gone only leaves Marcus McNeill as a possibility. In other words...

The pick is Michael Huff.

This is Deny Green for cripes sakes.....RB. I agree Huff is the value though.

I still say Buffalo would take Huff after releasing Milloy.

Now Denny Green is a liar. And he keeps saying that he still believes in Arrington. If they go RB, it would be DeAngelo Williams, not Lendale White.

OK, with the 10th pick, the Cardinals select LenDale White, RB, USC

4 Trojans in the top 10. personally, I am not sold on this pick, but the Shark Pool has spoken. Nice change of pace with Arrington, plus, as LHUCKS will tell you, the Pac-10 = SPEED.

That brings up St. Louis. Seems to me, they'd be bopping their collective bologna over Huff being available here, no?

It's either Huff, Jimmy Williams, or Chad Greenway.Their LBs are as terrible as their DBs, so it's either or.
