20 Average Questions at RB in 2012 (1 Viewer)

Footballguy
Just something to pass time on a Saturday Night in July. I always have a lot of thread topics, best to just write out a bunch of questions and see what people have opinions on.

1. What is on the depth chart after Greene and McKnight?

-I have no faith in these 2 at all. Cedric Benson would be an outstanding pick up for the Jets right now.

2. Who will be the lead dog in New England and should we care?

3. Is Isaac Redman better value in the 7th or Mendenhall in the 14th?

4. Why doesn't Cinci get an impact back like the impact WR they drafted?

5. What if Mark Ingram stays healthy and is better than what he flashed in 2011?

6. Why will James Starks be worth owning?

7. Will you draft a Dallas RB?

8. Fred Jackson or CJ Spiller?

9. Are you looking at KC and the upgrades on the OL?

10. Can you explain the love for a RB who was scolded by his HoF QB for blitz pick up, is running behind the worst OL in football, has inexperienced teammates on offense all around him...why are folks scooping up Donald Brown like a lost episode of Breaking Bad?

11. Can Turner squeeze out 1 more year in the top20?

12. Why can't David Wilson make an immediate impact?

13. How much of a hit will Reggie's numbers decline in 2012?

-Phins said he will be split out wide a lot more, Daniel Thomas expected to take some of the 1st and 2nd down carries, Lamar Miller in the cuts, Bush contract runs out after this year.

14. Houston lost its entire right side of the OL, should we be worried?

15. What if McGahee is the starter?

16. How big a role will Pead have in St Louis?

17. What if Steve Hutchinson is able to improve the interior of the Titans OL?

18. Will Ryan Williams make beanie Wells owners frustrated?

19. Best, Leshoure, or Smith?

20. Have you even thought about Ronnie Brown or L.McClain?

You can answer all of them, none of them, a few, whatever you have an opinion on and anytime you can show your work that always helps.

Powell is a sleeper, but I really like Terrance Ganaway. Would be perfect fit for Ground And Pound

2. Who will be the lead dog in New England and should we care?

Ridley, and I think so. Pretty much a lock for 10 TDs, and he's much more explosive than BJGE. I think 1000 and 10 is pretty solid estimate

3. Is Isaac Redman better value in the 7th or Mendenhall in the 14th?

Mendy. I think Redman gets exposed when he becomes full time starter

4. Why doesn't Cinci get an impact back like the impact WR they drafted?

I wish I knew the answer

5. What if Mark Ingram stays healthy and is better than what he flashed in 2011?

Still limited opportunity with Sproles soaking up all the catches, Chris Ivory excelling at short yardage, and PT being a better all around back than Ingram right now.

6. Why will James Starks be worth owning?

I guess because he's the lead RB, but I never liked him. Be wary of guys who come in and tear it up at end of season, playing on fresh legs vs tired guys. One career TD.

7. Will you draft Dallas RB?

I'm a believer in Murray. I'll be sure to grab Felix late though.

8. Fred Jackson or CJ Spiller?

For 2012, FJax by large margin. Still miles better than Spiller between the tackles.

9. Are you looking at KC and the upgrades on the OL?

Yes, I prefer Hillis' value over Charles. Think it's going to be close to 50-50.

10. Can you explain the love for a RB who was scolded by his HoF QB for blitz pick up, is running behind the worst OL in football, has inexperienced teammates on offense all around him...why are folks scooping up Donald Brown like a lost episode of Breaking Bad?

Not sure. VICK BALLARD BABY!!

11. Can Turner squeeze out 1 more year in the top20?

Yes. For all the hype, ATL passed 4th most in NFL last year. Don't know how much more they can put on Ryan's shoulders. He was at his best when Turner was.

12. Why can't Davis Wilson make an immediate impact?

Bradshaw is a much smarter runner. That said, I think Wilson will take enough carries that Bradshaw won't be a RB2.

13. How much of a hit will Reggie's numbers decline in 2012?

-Phins said he will be split out wide a lot more, Daniel Thomas expected to take some of the 1st and 2nd down carries, Lamar Miller in the cuts, Bush contract runs out after this year.

I expect him to stay around the same number of total points. Thomas is trash.

14. Houston lost its entire right side of the OL, should we be worried?

No. It's more about the scheme and Foster is a stud.

15. What if McGahee is the starter?

He is the starter, and I expect him to be a RB2 w/ Peyton.

16. How big a role will Pead have in St Louis?

3rd down to start, but if SJax goes down, RB2 numbers IMO. Bradford is check down king, and Pead excels in space.

17. What if Steve Hutchinson is able to improve the interior of the Titans OL?

Eh, CJ was absolutely pathetic last year. No effort. Hutch will help, but I will never draft CJ again unless value is outrageous.

18. Will Ryan Williams make beanie Wells owners frustrated?

Patellar tendon is a big injury, but he seems to be on track. I'll say Yes

19. Best, Leshoure, or Smith?

I'm a gambler, so Best has crazy upside. Smith is definitely worth a stash though, could provide RB1 numbers. Staying away from LeShoure.

20. Have you even thought about Ronnie Brown or L.McClain?

No.

You can answer all of them, none of them, a few, whatever you have an opinion on and anytime you can show your work that always helps.

Just something to pass time on a Saturday Night in July. I always have a lot of thread topics, best to just write out a bunch of questions and see what people have opinions on. 1. What is on the depth chart after Greene and McKnight?I like Greene where he is being drafted right now. Barring something like a Benson pickup, top-20 numbers should almost be a given.2. Who will be the lead dog in New England and should we care?I don't know...if I get one, I make sure and take both. I think we should care...definitely points t go around.3. Is Isaac Redman better value in the 7th or Mendenhall in the 14th?Re-draft I probably don't touch either. Dynasty I am all over Mendy for as late as he is going.4. Why doesn't Cinci get an impact back like the impact WR they drafted? Maybe next year?5. What if Mark Ingram stays healthy and is better than what he flashed in 2011?I think he will be. Rookie year, and banged up a bit. Also possible that without Payton they lean on the run a bit more.6. Why will James Starks be worth owning? For as late as you can get him, he should more than earn his points.7. Will you draft a Dallas RB?Nope. Both are too injury prone, and that team is built to pass.8. Fred Jackson or CJ Spiller?Gotta be Freddie this year. Freak injury last season, not like he wore down or anything.9. Are you looking at KC and the upgrades on the OL?Yes, I like Hill is this season.10. Can you explain the love for a RB who was scolded by his HoF QB for blitz pick up, is running behind the worst OL in football, has inexperienced teammates on offense all around him...why are folks scooping up Donald Brown like a lost episode of Breaking Bad?New coach, new QB, more reliance on I form than the shotgun draw plays of the past.11. Can Turner squeeze out 1 more year in the top20?I think so, although I may try to sell high if he stars the year on fire.12. Why can't David Wilson make an immediate impact?I think he could do OK, but a good back already there plus the passing game may hold him back.13. How much of a hit will Reggie's numbers decline in 2012In PPR leagues, he should be just fine. In standard, I don't know if i would touch him.14. Houston lost its entire right side of the OL, should we be worried?Less so than with a more traditional blocking scheme, but may be a little worse off than usual.15. What if McGahee is the starter?I hope he is. You can get him at around RB35 or so, and he has the limited wear to bang out another 1000 yard season. Should also improve on his 4 TDs if he is the starter.16. How big a role will Pead have in St Louis?Barring injury, not too much this season.17. What if Steve Hutchinson is able to improve the interior of the Titans OL?He is getting old, but should be able to help out for a couple years at least. 18. Will Ryan Williams make beanie Wells owners frustrated?Already is.19. Best, Leshoure, or Smith? Smith for me. Low cost, and potential for huge numbers.20. Have you even thought about Ronnie Brown or L.McClain? Not this season. Brown looked bad in Philly. You can answer all of them, none of them, a few, whatever you have an opinion on and anytime you can show your work that always helps.
Sorry for any spelling errors...typing on this virtual keyboard sucks.

Just something to pass time on a Saturday Night in July. I always have a lot of thread topics, best to just write out a bunch of questions and see what people have opinions on. 1. What is on the depth chart after Greene and McKnight?Ugh.... Tebow?2. Who will be the lead dog in New England and should we care?I wish I knew this. We'll probably know by middle of camp though (and that person's ADP will skyrocket)3. Is Isaac Redman better value in the 7th or Mendenhall in the 14th?Mendy in the 14th. (or Dwyer as a FA pick up)4. Why doesn't Cinci get an impact back like the impact WR they drafted? 5. What if Mark Ingram stays healthy and is better than what he flashed in 2011?I'll be targeting him.6. Why will James Starks be worth owning?Trade material if he has a good game or two7. Will you draft a Dallas RB?Nope. 8. Fred Jackson or CJ Spiller?Fred. But Spiller could have some value in PPR9. Are you looking at KC and the upgrades on the OL?If anyone, Hillis.10. Can you explain the love for a RB who was scolded by his HoF QB for blitz pick up, is running behind the worst OL in football, has inexperienced teammates on offense all around him...why are folks scooping up Donald Brown like a lost episode of Breaking Bad?Just for sheer amount of possible touches. 11. Can Turner squeeze out 1 more year in the top20?Most def. 12. Why can't David Wilson make an immediate impact? I like him for when Bradshaw almost certainly gets hurt13. How much of a hit will Reggie's numbers decline in 2012?no idea14. Houston lost its entire right side of the OL, should we be worried?Nope. At least as far as Foster is concerned. Now, Schaub on the over hand...15. What if McGahee is the starter?1400 total and 8 TD's (if Peyton is healthy all season)16. How big a role will Pead have in St Louis?Nothing much.17. What if Steve Hutchinson is able to improve the interior of the Titans OL?I don't think that helps CJ much18. Will Ryan Williams make beanie Wells owners frustrated?Yes19. Best, Leshoure, or Smith? Smith. 20. Have you even thought about Ronnie Brown or L.McClain?Nope You can answer all of them, none of them, a few, whatever you have an opinion on and anytime you can show your work that always helps.

I wouldn't draft either steeler back. Red man going too early and Mendelhall will probably miss 6 games. I'm draftIng both buffalo backs. They both have value. Not an either or. I think turner has another year left in him.

I'm a fan of Starks - I think that GB has nothing else there, really, and I believe (iirc) that Starks's numbers last year plus 3/4 of Grant's numbers is a top 15-20 back. At the price he is going for, I'll take that all day and see if he can improve on it - he was good receiving last year as well, which is of course essential in GB.

1. What is on the depth chart after Greene and McKnight?

I think Greene has a good year but if your just asking depth I actually like Powell more then the others including McNight.

2. Who will be the lead dog in New England and should we care?

Well I had a chance to draft one of them and took Ridley but wouldnt take either one early.

3. Is Isaac Redman better value in the 7th or Mendenhall in the 14th?

If I have to make a choice I take Mendenhall in the 14th but doubt I would take either one unless it was the 17th or 18th round.

4. Why doesn't Cinci get an impact back like the impact WR they drafted?

Wish I knew I thought Pead would have been a great fit for them.

5. What if Mark Ingram stays healthy and is better than what he flashed in 2011?

Not sure of the question if he is better and stays healthy he should be a stud

6. Why will James Starks be worth owning?

Im not sure he will be but I guess someone has to get the carries but I dont see him as a top 25 rb

7. Will you draft a Dallas RB?

If I can get Murray and Jones at a decent price I would take both but I wouldnt be happy with either one

8. Fred Jackson or CJ Spiller?

Redraft I still like Jackson but you have to think Buffalo needs to know if Spiller is the real deal or not

9. Are you looking at KC and the upgrades on the OL?

I hear a lot of Hillis love but I like both of them I think Hillis gets a few more carries then Jones did and Charles doesnt need 300 to be productive

If he stays healthy I think he can finish top 15

12. Why can't David Wilson make an immediate impact?

I think he will contribute right away but wont take a big role until end of the year.

13. How much of a hit will Reggie's numbers decline in 2012?

I think a little but I dont see a big decline

14. Houston lost its entire right side of the OL, should we be worried?

I would be if I was Shaub but I think with the system Houston runs and the talent they have at rb they wil be fine.

15. What if McGahee is the starter?

I think he is the starter and I think he will be better then last year because I see more Td's

16. How big a role will Pead have in St Louis?

Very little unless Jackson goes down and even then I see a split in carries

17. What if Steve Hutchinson is able to improve the interior of the Titans OL?

I think CJ is going to have a huge year either way I think the holdout killed him last year.

18. Will Ryan Williams make beanie Wells owners frustrated?

Yes and I think Beanie will fustrate Beanie owners

19. Best, Leshoure, or Smith?

To me this is one of the bigger questions because if one guy becomes the main guy he could have a monster year. Im betting Leshoure

20. Have you even thought about Ronnie Brown or L.McClain?

No and wont ever again

You can answer all of them, none of them, a few, whatever you have an opinion on and anytime you can show your work that always helps.

Just something to pass time on a Saturday Night in July. I always have a lot of thread topics, best to just write out a bunch of questions and see what people have opinions on. 1. What is on the depth chart after Greene and McKnight?-I have no faith in these 2 at all. Cedric Benson would be an outstanding pick up for the Jets right now. I agree, Benson would be an intriguing pickup, but Bilal Powell is worth monitoring? Can he at least make the active roster a few more Sundays?2. Who will be the lead dog in New England and should we care?My initial reaction to Vereen working with the first team in OTAs was, "it's just OTAs, and it means nothing. It makes no sense, however, to not have Ridley working as the lead back, if he is to be the guy. Ridley will certainly get his touches, but Vereen cannot be ignored, and I'm not sure either has enough value to be counted on.3. Is Isaac Redman better value in the 7th or Mendenhall in the 14th?Mendenhall is a risk, but in the 14th, he has value. He may not represent any value until after midseason, and if Redman impresses in the meantime, Mendy will be relegated to a backup role. I am not sold on Redman, so I will be targeting Mendenhall late.4. Why doesn't Cinci get an impact back like the impact WR they drafted? Impact backs like that are not easy to find, but it is a missing element for Cinci. 5. What if Mark Ingram stays healthy and is better than what he flashed in 2011?Ingram will eventually be a force, but I don't see it happening this season. Great Dynasty buy low, if Ingram owners are selling. Something tells me they are not.6. Why will James Starks be worth owning?Because you need a bye week/injury backup RBI?7. Will you draft a Dallas RB?Murray is a very talented RB. I wonder if he will be able to stay healthy. Felix Jones could be a sleeper handcuff. 8. Fred Jackson or CJ Spiller? Both. Fred Jackson Is the Buf back to own, but Spiller's talent cannot be ignored. 9. Are you looking at KC and the upgrades on the OL?As good as Hillis is, if Charles is fully recovered, he is too talented not to get enough carries to be a solid RB1. KC had a great offseason. 10. Can you explain the love for a RB who was scolded by his HoF QB for blitz pick up, is running behind the worst OL in football, has inexperienced teammates on offense all around him...why are folks scooping up Donald Brown like a lost episode of Breaking Bad?I had high hopes for Brown coming out of college, but I am unimpressed with him and his situation. I am avoiding Brown this season. 11. Can Turner squeeze out 1 more year in the top20?He is almost certainly top 20. 12. Why can't David Wilson make an immediate impact?Wilson will have his moments, but Bradshaw should hold off the rookie for this season. 13. How much of a hit will Reggie's numbers decline in 2012?-Phins said he will be split out wide a lot more, Daniel Thomas expected to take some of the 1st and 2nd down carries, Lamar Miller in the cuts, Bush contract runs out after this year. I really like Daniel Thomas to take the lead role here.14. Houston lost its entire right side of the OL, should we be worried?I am not worried. I have Arian Foster ranked #1. 15. What if McGahee is the starter? He should begin the season as the starter, but Hilman will challenge. If McGahee can hold onto the starting gig, expect about 1,100 total yards. 16. How big a role will Pead have in St Louis?Minimal. Steve Jackson is still playing at an elite level. 17. What if Steve Hutchinson is able to improve the interior of the Titans OL?I would like to see C. Johnson bounce back to his former level, but I just don't see it happening, even if the line is improved. 18. Will Ryan Williams make beanie Wells owners frustrated?Yes. Despite the difficult return from injury, Williams will carve out a role in the offense. The real question is, can Williams become a RB1?19. Best, Leshoure, or Smith? I will go against the grain somewhat here and say Best. I expect Leahoure to get plenty of work, but Best will make the most of his carries, and I am cautiously optimistic he can rebound from the concussions 20. Have you even thought about Ronnie Brown or L.McClain? Who are they? ;)You can answer all of them, none of them, a few, whatever you have an opinion on and anytime you can show your work that always helps.

Murray all the way in Dallas. p/u Felix if you can get him cheap enough.

Also like Hillis, F.Jackson, McGahee.

Not touchin Detroit, Arizona, NE RB's. I'll stick to WR's and TE's for these teams.

Sproles is the back to have in NO. The rest is muddy water, at least in the immediate future.

Turner will be a TD machine. The passing game will open up the field for him.

Not buyin R.Bush unless i feel the value is there. I think he could repeat last years numbers, but just as easily get hurt. He's not a workhorse.

1. nice preseason hype rb,

2. Ridley , plenty of value .

3. neither, at the adp

4.cheap

5.557 yds 4tds

6.a starter,13 touchs/g ,75yds/g

7.yes, imo...Dallas is a 50% off. with potential top 4 def. 4th q rushing.

8.both, i see a 200/50 7+ for both

9.yes, isn't everybody? screams draft me situation. Charles is of course, preseason look rb to hold his adp.

10.he is a starter, qb,te,stud wr being drafted first 3 rounds .

11.no, but ...that leads to THE ?, who will be atl. rb?

12.he will.

13.he is aboard the titanic, and he is always open. rec may save his point output.

14.no

15.huh? ......take him 4th round. :)

16.backup, not sure on talent. but at least 100 toches

17.done...well not done, but 3.8 yds/carry

18.beanie does that well already. tough inj, rookie, but should get his chance to shine.Beanie is a rb1 if healthy, ofc

19.best is sproles, Smith -lead rb. Leshoure cut , well maybe not, but a lot of negatives.

20.no. Eddie Royal is the back up rb.

3. Is Isaac Redman better value in the 7th or Mendenhall in the 14th?
MFL post July 1st...28. Redman, Isaac PIT RB 75.15 Averages 7.2 right now.

43. Mendenhall, Rashard PIT RB 123.63 Averages 10.3 right now.
FBG Crew Redraft Best Ball July 13th 14 team league6.12 Isaac Redman...basically the 7th

14.06 Rashard Mendenhall
In that draft, Mendenhall showed value in that the player wasnt the reason. The draft spot was. So in that draft Mendy was better value. But in a "20 burning questions about RBs"... As oppossed to 20 burning questions about the FBGcrew draft :bag: ...

What is the better value? Redman in the 8th or Mendenhall in the 11th? Or maybe 7th/10th, if you prefer.

What just happened? Are you still taking issue with the original question? I threw out 7th and 14th, if you say it's different then fine...can we not ask the original question? Have we gotten to the point we can't generalize the approximate round of a player? It has to be according to whatever that site is on July the 1st.? I prefer the 7th and 14th, 7th and 13th, 6th and 12th, will that do? I'm thinking Mendy will go a lot higher if he isn't on the PUP.

Some of the questions are meant with just a slight bit of sarcasm. #15 is a prime example. In dynasty he is all but dead, no one likes him in redraft but yet we know Fox loves vets, the RB will have to understand blitz pick up with Manning likely not able to sustain much punishment. McGahee seems like free money in the draft.

IM AVOIDING GREEN. BENSON WOULD MAKE THE SITUATION WORTH WATCHING.2. Who will be the lead dog in New England and should we care?VARIABLE AND I DONT CARE3. Is Isaac Redman better value in the 7th or Mendenhall in the 14th?REDMAN 7TH4. Why doesn't Cinci get an impact back like the impact WR they drafted? THEY DONT WANT TO5. What if Mark Ingram stays healthy and is better than what he flashed in 2011?HE WILL STILL BE 3RD CHOICE ON THE TEAM UNTIL PT LEAVES6. Why will James Starks be worth owning?BECAUSE HE IS A #1 BACK7. Will you draft a Dallas RB?PROBABLY NOT8. Fred Jackson or CJ Spiller?JACKSON - I THINK9. Are you looking at KC and the upgrades on the OL?WATCHING THIS CLOSELY - THERE WILL BE VALUE HERE SOMEWHERE10. Can you explain the love for a RB who was scolded by his HoF QB for blitz pick up, is running behind the worst OL in football, has inexperienced teammates on offense all around him...why are folks scooping up Donald Brown like a lost episode of Breaking Bad?BECAUSE HE IS A #1 ON HIS TEAM AND CARTER DIDNT LOOK WORTH MUCH AT ALL11. Can Turner squeeze out 1 more year in the top20?NO12. Why can't David Wilson make an immediate impact?BRADSHAW IS TRUSTED13. How much of a hit will Reggie's numbers decline in 2012?-Phins said he will be split out wide a lot more, Daniel Thomas expected to take some of the 1st and 2nd down carries, Lamar Miller in the cuts, Bush contract runs out after this year. I THINK THEY WILL RUN HIM AS MUCH AS LAST YEAR14. Houston lost its entire right side of the OL, should we be worried?NOT MUCH15. What if McGahee is the starter?THEN I WASTED A PICK ON THE HILLMAN IMP16. How big a role will Pead have in St Louis?DEPENDS HOW BIG AN INJURY SJAX PICKS UP17. What if Steve Hutchinson is able to improve the interior of the Titans OL?IM NOT SURE HE CAN18. Will Ryan Williams make beanie Wells owners frustrated?NO, WELLS WILL FRUSTRATE THEM ALL BY HIMSELF19. Best, Leshoure, or Smith? SMITH X 100020. Have you even thought about Ronnie Brown or L.McClain? ONLY WHEN RONNIE WAS AT AUBURNYou can answer all of them, none of them, a few, whatever you have an opinion on and anytime you can show your work that always helps.

2. Who will be the lead dog in New England and should we care?

I expect a Ridley/Vereen split with Ridley scoring more TDs and Vereen more receptions. This will be an interesting development as Belichick followed up his two TE draft with two RBs. Still expecting a committee but there are so few "feature" backs these days that, yes, we should care.

3. Is Isaac Redman better value in the 7th or Mendenhall in the 14th?

I will likely avoid as my biggest concern is who will be playing come fantasy play-offs.

4. Why doesn't Cinci get an impact back like the impact WR they drafted?

Walmart was out of stock?

7. Will you draft a Dallas RB?

I will keep Murray. I'm not expecting the performance of last year's small sample (against marginal D's) but expect him to be solid.

8. Fred Jackson or CJ Spiller?

Jackson, but obviously Spiller has value in PPR leagues and keeper formats and probably won't go back to a couple touches. I think Spiller will go earlier than many "back-up" RBs.

10. Can you explain the love for a RB who was scolded by his HoF QB for blitz pick up, is running behind the worst OL in football, has inexperienced teammates on offense all around him...why are folks scooping up Donald Brown like a lost episode of Breaking Bad?

Wasn't Brown a rookie then? You can't hold onto that one incident forever. The optimism is based on decent performance last year; a new QB and direction for the team and a lack of 3 down backs. The departure of Addai doesn't hurt either.

11. Can Turner squeeze out 1 more year in the top20?

Yes.

12. Why can't David Wilson make an immediate impact?

RBBC. Will need to hold onto the football and pass protect well or hit the dog house.

18. Will Ryan Williams make Beanie Wells owners frustrated?

Yes

19. Best, Leshoure, or Smith?

None of the above - some serious injury history between this group.

20. Have you even thought about Ronnie Brown or L.McClain?

In a sexual way? No!

You can answer all of them, none of them, a few, whatever you have an opinion on and anytime you can show your work that always helps.
I haven't seen a lot of work shown thus far so I'll try to explain my current take on each situation in some detail, but as always I'm very interested in counterpoints to my takes so I don't get tunnel vision.1. What is on the depth chart after Greene and McKnight?

-I have no faith in these 2 at all. Cedric Benson would be an outstanding pick up for the Jets right now.

I'm very open to drafting Greene in the 6th as I think he's a lock for 200+ carries if he can at least stay mediocre. I think Sparano gets back to running the ball, so if Greene improves he could see even more. Given this is a contract year for him, he should be motivated. That being said, I see Powell as the handcuff. This team could easily return to being a great place to be a RB, so if Powell gets the job he could be a 2nd round pick next year. FWIW, I think Benson is just a guy at this point. No need to bring him in unless you think Powell is a scrub.

2. Who will be the lead dog in New England and should we care?

Not sure and yes. At their current prices, I'm going to snag both Ridley and Vereen. BJGE finished top 24 for the last year years and Ridley, the "expensive" one is going RB36. Why not grab both? The only answer would be short rosters, in which case I could understand avoiding the situation. I think one of them will finish as a solid RB2, so if you have the bench space, grab a RB36 and RB45 and wait it out a week or two.

3. Is Isaac Redman better value in the 7th or Mendenhall in the 14th?

I feel that Redman is a probably a good back, but even at RB28 or whatever I can't justify drafting a guy who will almost certainly be in a RBBC during the FF playoffs. I'm not opposed to Mendy in the 14th - a lot can happen in a season. Redman could bust or get injured and then you've got a bellcow during the playoffs at a super cheap price. Then again, I'm not going to lose any sleep if I miss out on a guy coming off a torn ACL with a hungry guy finally getting his shot while Mendy is on the PUP. He's a good target in a keeper league or dynasty startup, though. Probably on a new team next year or re-signed to be the starter.

4. Why doesn't Cinci get an impact back like the impact WR they drafted?

Mind boggling. I really wanted to Michael Bush go there. I've got no faith in BJGE and Scott is intriguing but didn't do anything of note last year.

5. What if Mark Ingram stays healthy and is better than what he flashed in 2011?

Then he'll be a beast. He'll be a rich man's 2010 BJGE and Sproles will be a rich man's Kevin Faulk. 200 carries plus 10+ TDs would not be a reach, but New Orleans could be a mess this year.

6. Why will James Starks be worth owning?

Really hard to extrapolate from his short career, but I'm leaning towards yes. Last year he was one of the best at yards after contact plus missed tackles, so I think he's putting it together. He could be like a poor man's Tiki Barber back when Tiki wasn't scoring TDs. He's a pretty solid injury risk, though, IMO. At RB37, I think he's worth a risk but it'll be impossible to land Starks, Ridley, Ingram, and Brown. They are all clustered together in a little pack of RB value.

7. Will you draft a Dallas RB?

Probably not. I am not sold on Murray as an NFL starting caliber back, but that offense is so potent that you don't have to be that good to be a great FF pick so he could still put up solid numbers if he holds the job. Felix isn't on my do not draft list nor is he a target, so I guess if he's there and I don't have any other targets around that point that I would take a gamble on him. He's pretty cheap if I remember correctly.

8. Fred Jackson or CJ Spiller?

Jackson for 2012. He's very low mileage and he was ridiculous last year. As long as there are no complications with the leg, it is hard to imagine him not being the lead in a RBBC. I won't own either, though.

9. Are you looking at KC and the upgrades on the OL?

Yes, my FF crush on Hillis is well documented here. I think his goal line touches vault him over Charles as a FF RB. Even if they both get 200-250 carries, an extra 5 TDs goes a long way. Plus, Hillis may not be as explosive but he's probably got better hands than Charles and he's one of the best pass blockers in the league. The good news for Charles is that he's also a great lead blocker should KC choose to run them both out there for a few plays per game.

10. Can you explain the love for a RB who was scolded by his HoF QB for blitz pick up, is running behind the worst OL in football, has inexperienced teammates on offense all around him...why are folks scooping up Donald Brown like a lost episode of Breaking Bad?

Yes, some guys just take a few years to click in the NFL. I actually thought he looked good running the ball his rookie year, but he got hurt and his blocking kept him off the field. Didn't he have a 1 carry 72 yard game? Either way, it sounds like he's figured out how to block and will get his chance to be a 3 down back. No one is scooping him up - he's got like a RB38 ADP. I plan to go RB-RB-RB in rounds 6-8 and I want to get Hillis, Ridley, and Brown.

11. Can Turner squeeze out 1 more year in the top20?

Almost certainly. His 4.5 ypc last year leaves plenty of room for a still-productive drop off. I'll take 250 carries at 4.1 ypc and 10+ TDs.

12. Why can't David Wilson make an immediate impact?

No doubt he could, but the real question is what is the probability? Rookie RBs haven't been making an immediate impact recently and Bradshaw is a solid player. Wilson would have to be really good right out of the gate to take a big role here.

13. How much of a hit will Reggie's numbers decline in 2012?

I really haven't analyzed this one much. I don't know if anyone really can give you a confident %. That situation is in so much flux right now with the new coach and OC and the QB situation. The possible outcomes are all over the place. I think Miami will struggle as a team so I'm just going to avoid this situation since the one thing we can feel confident speculating on is that Bush won't be the goal line back.

14. Houston lost its entire right side of the OL, should we be worried?

Not much. Butler and Caldwell have both been in the system for a long time and both appear ready to take the next step.

15. What if McGahee is the starter?

The real question is what kind of starter is he? The lead dog in a 50/30/20 split or 80/20? I don't know much about this situation either, but he doesn't strike me as a Manning RB. Can you see Manning movie McGahee out of the backfield and into the slot? I probably won't touch the Denver RB situation but I recall hearing about a rookie last year (UDFA) that was making some noise in training camp before an injury. I forget his name but he's healthy now and could be a solid sleeper along with Hillman.

16. How big a role will Pead have in St Louis?

Again, I'm not an authority here, but I'm thinking Fisher leans on the veteran like he did Eddie George. I think Pead will have a minimal impact.

17. What if Steve Hutchinson is able to improve the interior of the Titans OL?

I'm not high on CJ, but I could possibly be talked into him. How old is Hutch? Why did the Vikes let him go? What was his play like last year? Sorry, I wish I knew more about this situation but I'm open to the possibility that CJ could be top 6 this year.

18. Will Ryan Williams make beanie Wells owners frustrated?

Do Beanie owners need another reason to be frustrated? I think the answer is that no, Williams won't frustrate Beanie owners - the poor o-line and poor QB play will frustrate them, possibly in addition to some nagging injuries. The guy is a straight up beast when healthy.

19. Best, Leshoure, or Smith?

Smith by default. I always felt the Best hype was overdone and LeShoure is coming off of a devastating injury that very few guys come back from. I won't be shocked if Best is good, though, but I think Smith is the easy play here at his ADP. A healthy Best and healthy Smith probably perform similarly, but Best is more risky and more expensive.

20. Have you even thought about Ronnie Brown or L.McClain?

I like Brown as a Mathews handcuff - nothing more nothing less. I think he's a solid talent with not too many miles on him, but Norv is going to let Mathews have as much as he can handle this year. Should Mathews get injured again, I think Brown will be a very good replacement.

MOP, great post as always brotha.

1. What is on the depth chart after Greene and McKnight?

Pick your poison here. With Tebow signing, I have to think some of the rushing TDs will be going there. Not overly thrilled with the situation in general. While Benson would be a good signing, not sure if they will go after based on the schemes they will run with Tebow. I am seeing Greene on 1st and 2nd downs with McKnight being 3rd down. I'm avoiding NYJ RBs this year as I think it'll be a mess with Tebow in and out. No consistency.

2. Who will be the lead dog in New England and should we care?

I think Ridley showed flashes last year but didn't have the consistency that NE was looking for. With Vereen also waiting in the wings we're probably going to see a 50/50 mix Ridley/Vereen and I wouldn't put it past Belichek to have Hernandez as the halfback now and again carrying the ball.

3. Is Isaac Redman better value in the 7th or Mendenhall in the 14th?

I like Redman. I have only seen one player come back from an ACL injury quickly and that was Wes Welker, a receiver. I haven't seen any RB come back a year later and play at game strength after recovery from an ACL. Last player that tried it was Edge, and he did not look like himself for at least another year. With the injury occuring in week 17, I am really avoiding Mendenhall late. From a keeper league perspective, if you can grab him late and stash him for a future year, maybe, but I wouldn't count on a lot of potential. But again, if he can be had late, 14th round or +, then maybe.

4. Why doesn't Cinci get an impact back like the impact WR they drafted?

I guess Bernard Scott is the play here with letting Benson go. Doesn't really make sense. While AJ Green was a stud last year, I'm more concerned that Dalton hits the sophomore slump this year.

5. What if Mark Ingram stays healthy and is better than what he flashed in 2011?

Good for him. I think it's still a mix with Sproles and Pierre Thomas. Now if NO like Ingram, then maybe they can move Thomas.... to Cincy?

6. Why will James Starks be worth owning?

He had the opportunity to flash and hasn't been able to beat out Ryan Grant. Now with Grant hitting 30 this year, he should be the bell cow. If he is going to breakout this is the year. So I'd take a chance on him as a bye week filler, but I don't know if I would base my season on it.

7. Will you draft a Dallas RB?

Murray lit the place on fire last year. While I don't believe Murray can maintain the 5.5 yds per carry he had last year, I do believe he ends up as the primary ball carrier in DAL. For a 2nd round pick, he better be. I have him as a keeper as I drafted him late this year, so it's a no-brainer for me. :P

8. Fred Jackson or CJ Spiller?

I think Fred has earned the right for the starter position. He had a tremendous year until the injury. CJ performed decently in relief, but didn't light it up the way Jackson did. I think Jackson is primary and CJ will be used similar to what they are doing with Sproles/Bush.

9. Are you looking at KC and the upgrades on the OL?

Loving it. They are getting back to what made them great earlier on. A solid run game with Jones/Charles, and now Charles/Hillis. I have both on my radar and I am thinking Hillis will be a great pick up as he can be had later in the draft. Charles is also recovering from an ACL injury suffered early in 2011. If he can't cut and use the quickness that made him great, Hillis may have better stats by the end of the season. I am targetting him in a lot of my drafts this year. Keep in mind as well, Hillis is reuniting with Brian Daboll, offensive coordinator for KC. Brian was also the CLE Offensive Coordinator in 2010, when Hillis broke out. Coincidence?

10. Can you explain the love for a RB who was scolded by his HoF QB for blitz pick up, is running behind the worst OL in football, has inexperienced teammates on offense all around him...why are folks scooping up Donald Brown like a lost episode of Breaking Bad?

Basically because IND has nothing else.

11. Can Turner squeeze out 1 more year in the top20?

Not a fan this year. He has been carrying over 300 times the last several years and hit's the age band of 30. Jacquizz received a little work last year with 57 carries compared to the 301 carries for Turner. I see Jac getting 100 touches this year minimum to see what they have and lessening Turner's workload. Can Turner be in the top 20? Maybe, but it's the 15-20 range IMO.

12. Why can't David Wilson make an immediate impact?

He could, but I see more Bradshaw. I think this is a calm year for Wilson, more next year.

13. How much of a hit will Reggie's numbers decline in 2012?

I don't see the rushing numbers this year like last year. The killer is that Bush outperformed his competition on the field and proved he can be a stud RB. I see Reggie getting the same number of touches, but more from a PPR perspective. I'm a believer in Reggie for PPR this year with Sproles type numbers.

14. Houston lost its entire right side of the OL, should we be worried?

Nope. In Foster I trust.

15. What if McGahee is the starter?

I like it. McGahee proved he can carry the load. Peyton keeps defenses honest so they can't stack the box. Another good bet this year.

16. How big a role will Pead have in St Louis?

This is one that I have been debating as well. Jackson has been a bell cow and that has to be taking a toll. Jackson has carriedd over 2100 times in his career. While his experience is great, I have to think Pead gets in on some of that action to help jackson. I think Jackson still plays well this year as Pead learns the system, but I don't think he has as big of an impact this year as he will next year.

17. What if Steve Hutchinson is able to improve the interior of the Titans OL?

That will help CJ and I do think he returns to form this year. I am more concerned on the passing game with the Titans. If Cook/Britt play to potential and keep defenses honest, with the OL giving Locker/Hasselbeck some time, then I think CJ is back in top 5.

18. Will Ryan Williams make beanie Wells owners frustrated?

Yes. He already is.

19. Best, Leshoure, or Smith?

None. They should take Benson off the market. Best should retire, the number of concussions the guy has is sick. Leshoure is coming back from an achilles injury, where tradition has had that most RBs don't recover full strength from achilles. This is something to watch. Smith is the best they have at the moment, but I don't know if he's dependable for the season. Definitely the weakest part of the Lions offense.

20. Have you even thought about Ronnie Brown or L.McClain?

McClain I have. Is he the new Tolbert in SD? I'll probably take a swing on him late in my draft if the value is right.

21. How big an impact will Doug Martin have in TB?

I'm not convinced that Blount will not be a factor in TB this year. I've read a lot where the job is Martin's, but I am having trouble seeing that 100%. I think Martin is going to be a reach in a lot of drafts, and may cause a lot of headaches for those owners that reach. I am planning on stashing Blount if possible as I think he will outperform his ADP this year.

FF Ninja, Saint, very nice post. I appreciate everyone who started answering all these questions. It does help. I'm working on a rather large thread that will have a very thorough OL core to it and then also the impact on the skill position players and some MOP gut talk too.

No matter who the players were or how they were used, here's a list of the yearly RB TD leaders for the Pats in the BB/Brady era:

Just something to pass time on a Saturday Night in July. I always have a lot of thread topics, best to just write out a bunch of questions and see what people have opinions on.

Caveat - Am answering from a ppr perspective (FFPC style)

1. What is on the depth chart after Greene and McKnight?

Bilal and Ganaway, but honestly do have faith in either to make an impact? Seem's like its the "Greene" show for better or worse. Given that he got around 30 recpts ly, he still represents good value.

-I have no faith in these 2 at all. Cedric Benson would be an outstanding pick up for the Jets right now.

2. Who will be the lead dog in New England and should we care?

I think either can provide some flex value. Assuming Ridley is the "the guy" is shortsighted. Vereen was comparable to J. Best when at CAL. Vereen makes a great late round flyer pick.

3. Is Isaac Redman better value in the 7th or Mendenhall Dwyer in the 17th or later?

Forget about Mendy.....He is not Peterson. He is not going to regain pre-inj status just like that.

Redman is looking more appealing by the day. I still cant get a good feel for his recpt projections. I also expect his ADP to continue to rise to the 5/6 turn by the end of july.

4. Why doesn't Cinci get an impact back like the impact WR they drafted?

Cant answer this?? They must really like B. Scott and figure BJGE gets them by until they find a better

solution

5. What if Mark Ingram stays healthy and is better than what he flashed in 2011?

Show me 1st. Difficult to envision wanting the perceived weakest link of a three headed rbbc.

6. Why will James Starks be worth owning?

Cost to acquire still resonable (but climbing) and can get the insurance handcuff (Green) w/out

spending too much.

7. Will you draft a Dallas RB?

If good value presents itself, then yes, w/out hesitation.

8. Fred Jackson or CJ Spiller?

In auction, either..in redraft, not FJAX. The 3rd rd price tag too much. Spiller much better value

in the 7th/8th.

9. Are you looking at KC and the upgrades on the OL?

If you can get lucky and get Charles in the 3rd, then by all means invest. Hillis in late 8th or later, again

invest.....This is going to be a really productive ground game IMO.

10. Can you explain the love for a RB who was scolded by his HoF QB for blitz pick up, is running behind the worst OL in football, has inexperienced teammates on offense all around him...why are folks scooping up Donald Brown like a lost episode of Breaking Bad?

Again, like Starks, it's a cost issue. Cheaper, has chance for good impact, ect.

11. Can Turner squeeze out 1 more year in the top20?

Not on any of my rosters.........ppr, never been a fan of Turner.

12. Why can't David Wilson make an immediate impact?

He can. Bradshaw health history projects some opportunity here for big things.

13. How much of a hit will Reggie's numbers decline in 2012?

Looking at maybe 160 att's, but his recpt's will go back up to 50+ level.

He looks like a 5/6 turn type player.

-Phins said he will be split out wide a lot more, Daniel Thomas expected to take some of the 1st and 2nd down carries, Lamar Miller in the cuts, Bush contract runs out after this year.

14. Houston lost its entire right side of the OL, should we be worried?

Not yet. They have capable backups they have been grooming.

15. What if McGahee is the starter? I expect him to be. Hillman fever a bit too hot right now.

Fox has history of limiting rookies PT. So what does McGahee provide for 2012? 250 ATT and some decent TD

totals. Good value in 6th to 7th IMO.

16. How big a role will Pead have in St Louis?

17. What if Steve Hutchinson is able to improve the interior of the Titans OL?

18. Will Ryan Williams make beanie Wells owners frustrated?

19. Best, Leshoure, or Smith?

Best (but am praying a lot - and i'm not religious)

20. Have you even thought about Ronnie Brown or L.McClain?

Nope, Curtis Brinkley (fingers crossed)

You can answer all of them, none of them, a few, whatever you have an opinion on and anytime you can show your work that always helps.

Awesome David, ty for the info. Love these type of posts.

Just something to pass time on a Saturday Night in July. I always have a lot of thread topics, best to just write out a bunch of questions and see what people have opinions on.

1. What is on the depth chart after Greene and McKnight?

-I am in 9 leagues and don't own a single Jet running back and I am very happy about it.

2. Who will be the lead dog in New England and should we care?

I think it will be Ridley, I think he learned from his mistakes last year. However, I don't want to count any Patriot back for more than a flex or bye week fillin

3. Is Isaac Redman better value in the 7th or Mendenhall in the 14th?

Depends on the league, in a dynasty league I would take Mendenhall, redraft Redman

4. Why doesn't Cinci get an impact back like the impact WR they drafted?

They realize that running backs are expendable and I think they will take the Patriots approach to drafting them and signing them

5. What if Mark Ingram stays healthy and is better than what he flashed in 2011?

Not this year, Thomas will still get his touches, and Sproles still owns 3rd down, no huddle, and the change of pace role.

6. Why will James Starks be worth owning?

I think he will be a decent flex play, if he can stay healthy and the Packers actually want to establish a run game I think he could be a low end rb2. I don't see both of those happening though.

7. Will you draft a Dallas RB?

Yes, I love the value of Murray in the late second or early third and you can easily handcuff him in round 11 or later.

8. Fred Jackson or CJ Spiller?

Both, I think Jackson will be a high end rb2 and I think Spiller will be a monster flex maybe even a low end rb2. Think of Deangelo and Stewert a few years ago in Carolina.

9. Are you looking at KC and the upgrades on the OL?

Not really, Charles scares the crap out of me this year, I do like taking a later flier on Hillis

10. Can you explain the love for a RB who was scolded by his HoF QB for blitz pick up, is running behind the worst OL in football, has inexperienced teammates on offense all around him...why are folks scooping up Donald Brown like a lost episode of Breaking Bad?

Because of the value, 10th round or later for a starting running back who showed flashes last year that he might have figured it out. Look back at Spiller last year before Jackson got hurt, he was on his way to getting cut and being the bust of his draft class.

11. Can Turner squeeze out 1 more year in the top20?

Yes, but that is it and just barely.

12. Why can't David Wilson make an immediate impact?

I think he does because he will be over looked in that offense. Teams will focus on stopping Cruz, Nicks, and Bradshaw.

13. How much of a hit will Reggie's numbers decline in 2012?

A lot!!! He will get injured again and one of the younger backs will take the lead in Miami and never give it back, he will be with a different team next year.

14. Houston lost its entire right side of the OL, should we be worried?

Fantasy wise yes, but the rest of that division isn't good enough to over take them this year.

15. What if McGahee is the starter?

He will be a top 10 back this year.

16. How big a role will Pead have in St Louis?

I think he will have the same role as a Sproles, or Woodhead, but will give you Woodhead production not Sproles.

17. What if Steve Hutchinson is able to improve the interior of the Titans OL?

Than that offense could be a juggernaut and Chris Johnson can reclaim his nickname as CJ2k

18. Will Ryan Williams make beanie Wells owners frustrated?

No, Wells will make Wells owners frustrated.

19. Best, Leshoure, or Smith?

Leshoure

20. Have you even thought about Ronnie Brown or L.McClain?

Not until you just mentioned them

You can answer all of them, none of them, a few, whatever you have an opinion on and anytime you can show your work that always helps.
