2004/05 USC- Overrated? (1 Viewer)

Thinking about how dominant the Trojan teams were a few years ago, it is somewhat surprising to see where the team members, and even coaches that were involved are now.

QB Matt Leinart- has struggled as a starter in Arizona and after being hurt, it seems that some are ready to give up on him as a star.

RB Reggie Bush- one of the most hyped players ever and he has not lived up to the hype. Like Leinart some are giving up on him, it is already being assumed that he can not be an effective every down back.

RB LenDale White- by draft day, his stock had fallen already. He has been a decent starter for the Titans, but was much more effective as a part of a RBBC.

WR Dwayne Jarrett- he is obviously being called a bust and I don't think it is too early.

OC Norm Chow- as an outsider, I felt like he had done a good job for the Titans, but evidently not good enough as he got canned and is now at UCLA in the same position.

I don't think they were overrated at all. They had a sick collection of talent.

That's 26 guys in 4 drafts. Not bad at all. I doubt any other school in the NCAA can match that over the same stretch of time.

Why would players' NFL performance on separate teams be a more important criteria in determining the quality of a college team? :goodposting:

Sorry, I was not clear. I think they were one of the great college teams I have ever seen, but it does seem that the skill players at least were overrated, as NFL prospects.

It's a bit premature to judge them. Some of these guys have only been in the league for a season or two. That said, the talent doesn't look as good as Miami's during the Ken Dorsey era, but it still puts most schools to shame.

If only the SEC didn't exist...

Pete Carroll deserves some credit for getting the best out of all those guys. When he was in the NFL I always thought he was an underrated coach.
