2004 Carolina Panthers players were on steroids? (1 Viewer)

Remember Julius Peppers got popped in 2002, missed the final 4 games of his rookie season but still won DROTY. Blamed on a poppyseed bagel or something like that.

THis came out many years ago and was fairly well covered in the media for quite a while, up through the trial of the doctor who provided the steroids. It was mostly low level players, that were already off the team or got cut shortly after the news came out.

The only name I remember off the top of my head was the punter, Todd Sauerbrun.

I do remember that there was another really big story that hit around the same time, that took some attention away from it. I can't remember which one it was though.

BTW, every team in the league has had some players on steroids for decades now. It is laughably naive to think otherwise.

seriously....you mean guys that can bench 500 pounds and run 4.4 40's aren't all doing it naturally?

This is the NFL. Nobody cares about steroids/PEDs. People just want to watch football.

Now, if this were a certain non-contact sport that didn't rely on brute strength, people would be up in arms over this.

Without PED's the league would cease to function. I have an older in law that played in the CFL for a cup of coffee and played in the beer leagues for a decade plus and guys were doing greenies 45 years ago. I used to think only the field goal kickers and some qb's didn't do PED's now I think only a handful of players in the league don't do PED's as many of the kickers look like bouncers at strip clubs now too.

For what it's worth, I benched 485 in high school and 550 in college... and I never took a steroid or PED in my life. I regularly saw those that did, with those guys offering them to me and telling me how much it would help me. They were far and away more "jacked" than me. At the end of the day steroids don't make you "strong". Even now, not having lifted in several years after various surgeries, I still put up 8 reps on 315. These same rapid heads who look so much better than me are doing, 1-2. Sure, they LOOK a hell of a lot better than me, but taking steroids doesn't just magically make you run fast or lift a lot.

Damn good to see you posting again. Hope all is well, bro.

In before an fbg brags about how much he can bench..........damn.Nevermind.
I'm not bragging, nor am I saying I'm an elite athlete. I'm saying that steroids aren't this easy and automatic thing you take to bench a lot of weight. I'm saying that me, a former D3 athlete with short arms who happened to be a freak on the bench, outlifted dudes who looked like they should be able to crush me. When it came to legs (something most 'roid heads hate to do), it's even worse. My point was just in response to the point about "everyone" who runs 4.4s or benches 550 taking PEDs. Most of the time, the guys taking those things are doing so precisely because they're not that strong. And most of the people I know (through my time lifting, or in athletics) who were the "best" on measurables were just naturally that way.
