2006 Consensus TE Rankings (1 Viewer)

Watson and Hilton will be Top 10.

Hilton's last 8 games . . .

32-371-1
this is why i subscribe to FBG.i am not saying i will have Zach Hilton in my top 10 TE's. but he wasn't even on my radar's radar before i read this post.

I'm even more inclined to bump up Hilton with Brees at QB in NO. How often did Brees look to Gates in SD?

Hilton is an interesting prospect next year, but two things concern me about him: McAllister and Conwell. Both were out injured while he was lighting it up at the end of the season, and both pose a threat to steal targets.

1. A. Gates

2. J. Shockey

3. A. Crumpler

4. T. Gonzalez

5. C. Cooley

6. J. Whitten

7. R. McMichael

8. T. Heap

9. B. Watson

10. D. Clark

11. J. Stevens

12. H. Miller
Why does Heap drop off so far from last year? Did Vick all of a sudden lose the starting spot in Atl, that the only way any recieving option could get in the top 5 in my opinion.

I haven't had time to do my rankings yet this year, nor have I read through this whole thread. Cooley anywhere below #5 is a steal IMO. I see I have no reason what so ever to waste a high pick on a TE again this year when I can steal Cooley well after the Gates/Gonzo crowd. Hell looking at these lists posted so far, I don't even see a reason to make a TE list. Any redraft aroudn I will be targeting Cooley. Easy as that.

This just shows the limitations of throwing up a list. The difference between Crumpler at 3 and Heap at 8 is simply a few points. i don't see much difference between any of the guys after Gates. It really brings home the point jurb26 just made. Let someone else draft Gates and Gonzo and then wait four or five rounds and take the guy around 8 on your list. If you are th sixth or seventh guy in your draft to take a TE you are probably the one getting the best value. However, you have made me think a bit about Heap. I didn't realize how well he did last season. I may have to move him up a bit (for sure ahead of McMichael and Whitten).

So just how does ARE and Lloyd affect Cooley?

I'm thinking more TDs, with less receptions.

I'm thinking a possibility of less TD's... and maybe less receptions.... it's hard to say...... what I didn't like was Washington's unpredictability in the red zone. they were good in real life NFL but they were a ot like Tennessee in their goal line and red zone sets where the passes and carries went everywhere... I don't have a mag with me but somebody look at the Skins TD distribution. There were a lot of scrubs doing dances. I went through the same thing with Chrissy Brown on my team. I'm like yeah! this offense is rolling! Chris is racking up the yards and he's going to get me a TD here! Next thing I know, the third string TE from Kalamazoo St. catches the TD. Well, the Skins were very deceptive in scoring close in TD's, a lot like NE can be. Aren't there Watson and Graham owners who scream everytime Vrabel catches a TD? Similarly, Graham was on course to score 8,000 TD's at one point and then disappeared.Maybe Saunder's addition to the team will more predictably allot the TD's but that's what I have to say. If you guys remember, Cooley got 3 of his TD's in one game. That's great if you score 13 on the year but if you score 7, 8 that makes it really frustrating. You could even have benched him for that game if you had another good TE and you were sick of him being cold and seeing Robert Royal and Rock Cartwright  :towelwave: :pickle: :pickle: :pickle: around.

One guy i would put in the top 15 is E Johnson SFO. Been a top 10 TE before and its what Smith needs. A dump off..

Hilton way over-rated until Conwell's status becomes more clear. Hilton may not even be the starter going into the season.

Witten's status maybe a but murkier with the DAL round 2 rookie TE pick.

Cooley loses a bit of value now that there are more options then just Moss & Him.

Gonzo will be a tremendous value pick this year.

LJ Smiff getting no love at all this year.

Maybe. There are so many good TE's this year - who have proven their worth already - that its hard to rank LJS above them.

I would bet you that the amount of good TEs will not be statistically significantly higher than in any other year.

I don't get your point. There are so many good TE's this year - who have proven their worth already - that its hard to rank LJS above them.
