2006 NFL DRAFT (1 Viewer)

Wow.  The Steeler gave up a 3rd and 4th pcik fo get WR that was likely to fall to them.. Ouch
Exactly. Not a great move at all. Good pick, bad management of that pick.
I don't think Holmes would have fallen to 32. There were probably several teams with early 2nd round picks that were trying to find a way to get the top 2 WRs that were dropping.

Agree, too much to give. WTF? No way that both Holmes and Jackosn are gone at 32. I'm glad they went for the guy they wanted, but this was too much to give up.

Stillers don't need late round garbage that won't make their roster. Last time I looked they were pretty solid.

the Steelers have excellent team depth, a 3rd and 4th mean less to their team than it does to a SF or HOU.
And they still have their 2nd plus 2 4th's remaining. There's no reason to keep all 10 picks. Great move for the Steelers.

The trade with Buffalo pretty much proves that

Bingo. Sure, it's a 3rd and 4th rounder, but they're both at the end of the respective rounds. Fair value, and an excellent decision. LOVE the pick. I wonder if they'll have him start in the slot to start the year, or if Wilson will play the slot with Holmes moving outside opposite Ward.

They have plenty of picks left, too.

If Bears want to go TE, they have two good ones in Pope and Lewis, so they can drop and wait and still get one.

Specifics of the Bears trade? Please...

If the Steelers gave up a 3rd and 4th, I'm assuming the Bears picked up something similar.

This is true. They are in a position to add quality over quantity, to a point. Too many trades like this could deplete them, but in this case I'd say it was a good job by Pitt getting their guy.

Nice pick by the Steelers. Very nice pick. I don't think Holmes will ever be a star, but he's a great fit for their team as a #2 WR with some playmaking skills.

Couldn't have had him at #32?

:lmao:
Obviously they didn't think so, and they had a ton of extra picks to play with.Excellent pick, and it fills a huge need in my opinion. Giving up the last pick in the 3rd round and a 2nd day pick is a fair price, and most importantly, they got the guy they wanted.
I agree but didn't expect it.

Hahahahahaha......wtf is going on here.

First the Bills decide not to trade down and take Whitner way the heck up at 8, and then they trade up to 26 for a guy that shouldn't have gone for another 30 picks.

hmm. Why'd they trade up? dammit. I think a quality player would have fallen to them. Hope they didn't give up much. Maybe one of their extra 4ths.
wow they did give up a bunch
Yeah. That kind of sucks. They do (did) have 10 picks, so they could give up a little. But their 1st 3rd and one of their 4ths to move up 7 spots? I guess they really liked Holmes and were afraid that the Bears wanted him.
32nd in the 3rd round and 32nd pick in the 4th round. If they had traded the 1st pick in the 4th and the 1st pick in the 5th would it sound better? They started with 3 4th round picks and 2 5th rounders, so they're not hurting for picks.

Maybe they weren't as impressed with Jackson's measurables as we FFBallers were. Jackson wasn't a "1st rounder" before the combine, then all of the sudden he was a "lock". The Stillers don't go for that stuff - they take football players and aren't afraid to "overspend" to make sure they get them.

To expand on the Steelers trade, there's no guarantee that a 4th rounder would even make the team...that's how excellent Pittsburgh's depth is.

To the Steelers it really means relatively little to give up a 3rd/4th.

I think it's a good move for them, but may have been a bad move for other teams that have less depth.

That's why the draft pick value chart is so ridiculous. Each situation is its own, there's no pre-set values...the idea of it is ridiculous.
