2006 NFL DRAFT (1 Viewer)

I like that pick for the Giants. I don't believe in Moss as a #1 WR, but he fits in nicely as a slot guy and as a complement to Burress.
Not usually a big fan of going WR early, but that is 1rd talent in the 2nd round. Not only is he a complement to Burress, he is in there with a bunch of trees:Plax 6'5

Shockey 6'5

Toomer 6'3

Then you have Tiki to worry about. Moss and open field is what you want, and as long as Eli can work on a touch pass (not his strength for sure) that is gold.
:goodposting: I was STOKED to see the Giants trade up for Moss. Exactly the sort of player they need. Now they have a slot receiver and an unpronounceable defensive line. It doesn't get any better than that.

Wow... Pollard and Cook. Two guys I pimped and should have pimped more. Pollard is a complete package at SS. Seems like a bit of a reach, but he's young and underrated... well, was underrated.
Young you say? In the college draft? kidding :)
As in coming out early! ;)

Huge hitter. Simpson and Bing are officially plummeting.
Simpson surprises me, Bing doesnt.Bing is a slower, less athletic Thomas Davis.

Davis has the athleticism to make up for his lack of speed. Bing is a player without a position.
Bing was a 200 meter champ in HS. He is extremely athletic. More than Simpson. He played SS against the run then switched to FS on passing downs. Better deep game than Simpson, bigger hitter, more athletic, not as instinctual against the run, takes bad angles. Star RB in HS too. Very very athletic. Awesome BBall player. Dunk contest winner. Has some long jump record, iirc.
 All that and still available. Can't be.
Deep deep draft. Bing is pretty shaky against the run despite the big hits. Ko is extremely good against the run. Odd, but the bigger guy can play FS and the smaller guy is the better SS.

I felt that Simpson would be the better pick for the Steelers if both he and Bing fall to them in the 2nd. He seems like a more natural fit at FS. I also feel his coverage skills are better than Bing, but I'll defer to you since you've seen more of these guys than I have.

Ravens - G/C Chris Chester - really????

Not sure which is worse, this or the Bills McCargo pick.

If the Pats can somehow package their 3rd and 1 of their 4ths to get up and take Richard Marshall right now this would be a SLAM DUNK draft for them.

Devin Hester?
Second most exciting player in the draft with the ball in his hands (Bush first). Doesn't have a position, probably better at corner, but WR is an option. Probably a better WR prospect than Sinorice Moss, seriously. This kid is very very very dangerous with the ball. Nice to see him go early. FSU did not use him properly.

:X he's an awesome returner, but he's useless as a CB and not much better on offense

Could be converted to a tight end.
No, he was converted FROM a TE.303 lb men are not drafted in the 2nd round to be moved to TE.
Chester is a center/guard, with the best measureables of any interior lineman in the draft. He's raw. I don't criticize Ozzie Newsome-- ever, unless Billick talks him into a QB.

Considering he played at U of M.....

You're being a little harsh. He is a great special teamer, but the potential to be a great player is very high. Seriously, he runs nice routes, has solid hands, is more dangerous than Moss. Very hard to tackle. We'll see. I think Moss made a fortune off his name. WR10 on my board.

I was surprised at the Hester pick too. Do you think when the Ravens took Chester the pick before, it might've stirred some memories in the minds of the Bears War room of Devin Hester? :lmao: ;)

Devin Hester gets my nomination as the worst pick of this draft so far
 Even worse than White.

Hester is a return guy and nothing else
His NFL prospect profile makes him sound like Steve Smith.
Hester is an explosive athlete who is a threat to score every time he touches the ball. He has excellent vision and instincts to find a seam/crack, and has the burst to shoot through it and the speed to take it the distance. He has shown the hands to make tough catches and shows surprising strength running through arm/grab tackles and keeps his feet against hard hits. He has the ability to run sharp routes and can burst out of cuts to get separation consistently, but does not show it often.

Only a few more picks to go for the Steelers. Bing and/or Simpson should make it. Rodrique Wright is a name being mentioned on a Steelers board too.

scouting report on him:
Code:
Negatives: Not smart. Not mentally tough. Injury prone. Has no position. Will struggle to digest an NFL playbook and needs to play in a simple scheme. Not a precise route runner. Gets lost in coverage while playing CB. Is overconfident and doesn't always get along with his teammates.
Bears already drafted a return guy...Hester shouldn't have gone until late 3rd or day 2, IMO.

Pack take Jennnigs WR
His athleticism will combine with his football intelligence and instincts to let him contribute sooner than nearly all the other receivers available this year. In the end, he will become a very good starting receiver that will make big plays in the NFL.I like it. :boxing:
Jennings will take his eyes off the ball at times and start upfield before tucking the ball away, which leads to him dropping some easy passes. He has a very good burst in routes and after the catch, but lacks the elite explosiveness and top-end speedI don't :boxing:
Sounds a little like Boldin. Except for taking his eyes off the ball.
Here's hoping.

It's all true. In a thread about favorite players he made my list.

Chaos youre right on there, but then you always are, I know the Steelers were very high on him.... I know also that Simpson was slipping on alot of boards, after initially being seen as a possible 1st rounder....I wouldnt be surprised itf the steelers still get himyoure talent evaluations are usually spot on, he should know that

I disagree strenuously with the precise route running report above. He runs very sharp patterns, separates easily. We'll see Aaron. Could have been a terrible pick, could have been a steal. High ceiling, bottomless floor.eta: I sure didn't expect him this high. That's for sure, but I am happy for him.

Whitworth is a great pick. Winston is officially plummeting.
Where's Youboty? 8 CB's gone he's still available, wow.
I called this a couple weeks ago. Well, I was agreeing with Tom Casale from a Pats site, but Youboty was the weak link on OSU's D.
Wasn't he the guy who got beat in for the first TD in the Texas game?

horrible pick, should've taken winston, watson, or simpson
Just just... I don't know. I hate picking on GMs and I respect Bill, but... dambit, this is not addressing needs or value, imo... and it's the second time...
carpenter addressed the olb need. that was a good pick. fasano is a product of charlie weiss. all the notre dame players are going to be busts
This was a terrible pick when the Cowboys sorely need OL. :X
