2006 NFL DRAFT (1 Viewer)

Leinhart just stunned. Hope he likes Honolulu Blue.
This was the price he paid for going back to USC.Will he be a Raider, Lion, Cardinal, Ram........?
Hi Jeff,Exactly. Can you see him as a Raider? I have a hard time with that one.

J
Hey JB.The Raidahs loved VY, but that's not an option now, so if they go for best QB available they'd have to go Leinart.

Word is Al Davis doesn't love him, but local ties to California will help IMHO. Also helps if they ever decide to go to LA again ;) .

I would say they take all 15 minutes, debating Sims, Huff and Leinart. I'd say 50% Leinart, 35% Huff, 15% Sims.

(I'm assuming AJ Hawk and V Davis are gone).

What a great draft.

Also think this is a strong endorsement for Chad Pennington's health.
I really think it's more about being smart and taking what I think is the one can't miss guy in the draft. Good pick by the JEts.

Mistake.

Leinart
We will see - Ted Thompson is said to REALLY like Leinart and in all his years of Drafting has NEVER taken a LB on the first day. I think we are in for a surprise or a trade down.
I think taking Leinart would be the right decision by the Pack.
If they did that, they would demonstrate that their franchise has no direction. It would be admitting that you wasted your 1st round pick last year. If G.B. stays put, Hawk is the pick.

Heard somebody (can't remember who :( ) on ESPN radio yesterday say that Al Davis does not like left-handed quarterbacks. I'd love to see a link to support that claim.

Maybe Marinovich soured him a bit, but anyone remember Kenny Stabler???
I think the "lack" of arm strength will be the bigger factor in the Raiders not taking Leinart. Al Davis likes guys who can chuck it way too much.

WOWOWO 3 out of 4 picks wasted, wrong guys going to the wrong places.. WOWOWOWO Texans will suck for longer YAHOOOOO, Jets blew it, they needed QB now they do not get culter or leihart..>Jets fan can you say Patrick RAMSEY
:lmao: In the least toolish way I can. for Joe.

The Jets are in really good shape. Obviously they'd love to have Bush, but Brick was borderline #1 pick talent.

The news about trade talk being off with the Saints is also not surprising. Why snag Drew Brees (who I'm high on) if you're really interested in a QB?

Quite the contrary....if they chose Leinart they admit Rodgers was a mistake and they are willing to take steps to correct that mistake.

Agreed Flawwed. I don't see any way they give up on Rodgers with him not even having a shot to play yet.J

Hawk is the pick. Funny how GB can have so much turmoil this offseason with Favre and Walker, but seemingly be oblivious to all the draft day weirdness.

Mistake.

You can't give up on a QB who hasn't played (except in garbage time) after only one season.

Am I crazy for thinking that the Bush to the Jets thing isn't exactly dead. I did see Eli holding a Chargers jersey a few years ago. They still have the pick the Saints would want.

No it wouldn't. For the spot in the draft they were at last year, they HAD to take Rogers. The same can be said for this pick. Forgetting when he was picked, which QB would you rather be the future of the franchise - Rogers or Leinart?

You're lying if you say Rogers.

Something I haven't heard people talking about with regards to Ferguson and the Jets. Al Groh is the coach at Virginia, and he was the Jets coach in 2000.

Different scenario. Bush didn't come out before the draft indicating he wasn't interested in playing for the Saints. In fact, I think he relishes the chance to be the city's football savior.

Shefter said it's done. No trade. Bush is on the way to NO.

This hasn't exactly been a great week for USC, players and fans alike. Not long ago, it seemed almost assured that Bush and Leinart would 1-2. With the Bush allegations and his loss of millions today, and now Leinart dropping who knows how far, rough week.
don't forget about the trouble Sanchez got into.

Hawk is the smart pick, although I personally think he's a little overrated.
Agreed, but only because he is rated sooo highly. How 'bout that? Agreement #1.

I still don't think Leinart would have been a bad pick.

Vernon Davis as a darkhorse for the Raiders.

speed  Al Davis
How does he get by San Fran?
I thought that the 'Niners would take either Ferguson or Hawk if they were available over Davis. With both of them gone, I don't like a TE pick here (for them or the Raiders). Should definitely look to trade down for a team looking at one of the QBs.

At this point I think that's only slightly more than coincidence. I'm sure Groh mentioned how good Brick is to the Jets front office, but its not like his talent was a secret. How much interaction do you think Groh still has with the Jets, or the NFL in general, other than through the scouting process?

As I said.... Hawk.

I agree with Tom Jackson, GB just got the best defensive player in the draft. Adding Woodson on top of it and this could be a much better D next year.

I love Leinart, but I felt as though they had other more pressing needs. Plus they weren't ready yet to give up on Rodgers.

True, but I wouldn't be lying if I said I'd rather have Rogers and Hawk than Leinart.

im thinking this could be a good spot for the Cards to jump up and snag a QB if they are inclined to taking one, got their pick of Cutler or Leinhart, before OAK can get their hands on them.

..you mean, as a Viking fan you would have liked that. :bye: The 'bust' downside for Rodgers will be minimized with 2 years to figure things out. I expect him to be average - average will be good enough if other positions fill in.

Knowing Matt Millen's brain chemistry, I'd say this is another opportunity to show what a nimrod he is. I do think Leinart will be a good NFL QB, but that's not what the Lions need.
I KNOW!!! THIS IS KILLING ME AS A LIONS FAN. I don't think Millen will be able to resist.

I know it is a few picks off yet, but given the first 5 picks, how is this shaping up for the Bills?

any thoughts....
