2006 NFL DRAFT (1 Viewer)

Gotta think that the Jets are thinking Kellen Clemons with their late 1st rounder. I think he would seriously prosper in NY, plus they got the guy they wanted at 1.4.

Jets could be huge in the first round. Thoughts?

Clemons in the first would be a reach. If they have their sites set on him, they could wait until the 35th pick. He could even fall into the 3rd.

Broncos still have the 37th and 61st pick.  Then they are quiet until the 119th.

As a Bronco fan, I think this was probably a good move, but I'm still concerned about WR...
Even as a Charger fan I can see that Plummer is not the answer. Denver has done well manuvering into getting a franchise QB which they have been missing since Elway retired. Denver can address their WR need in the 2nd round.
And their pass rush need...and their TE need...and their RB need...and...As a Charger fan you should be rejoicing that you just made up the ground you lost by taking Rivers over DeAngelo Hall.
Rejoice that the Chargers secondary will have to stop Cutler throwing the ball instead of Plummer?
Cutler's a year or two away from making an impact. Denver just spent their 1st and 3rd picks on a player who will have ZERO impact in 2006.As a Charger fan, I'm happy.
Denver just traded for Barlow.
Should help his career....anyone can play behind that line. Also hearing that the Eagles got Walker....saw it in another thread...didn't see a link though.

I am thinking Winston Justice for the Eagles....

If true, I guess that would signal that SF will draft a rb with their other 1st round pick.

Yeah, Plummer's not the answer, but is Cutler? The knocks on him sound a lot like the knock's on Plummer...
Good question. Time will tell with Cutler but I think he will be a very good NFL QB. Knowing Plummer is not the answer is only part of the problem, replacing him and rebuilding the WRs is the only way to find out.

Not at #29 - hoping to get a RB - Williams/Maroney
Don't think they need to go QB at 29...The teams between their 29 and their 35 pick:

Colts

Seahawks

Steelers

Houston

New Orleans

Don't see any of them taking a QB this early...

ESPN has to win the "Over-Presentation Of a non-Athletic Show" award. I'm getting sick of these cutaways to the:

1. "NFL Live" set

2. the "Cold Pizza" set

3. Suzy Kolber somewhere in the bowreys of Radio City Music Hall set

4. Steve Young in a faux locker room of the 49er in some set somewhere in the universe

I'm sure there will be more before the day is done.

There's a touch of irony in pimping the guy all off-season and now having to root against him.

Eagles take Bunkley, thus allowing the Rams to select someone other than a defensive tackle. Crisis averted, all is well.

Steve Young might be at the 49ers locker room because he is supposed to be in Santa Clara to be on KNBR today

Bunkley it is :)
Great pick for the Eagles....Didn't think he would be there at that pick...No WRs taken yet...I figured two would be gone by the 16th picks (Eagles and Broncos possibilities)...Chicago might get a top WR if they all slide.

Lots of options for the Rams here, could they go LB with Greenway? CB with Jimmy Williams? Could they go with the freak of nature with Lawson? Many options here and I'd be happy with any of the above, really.

Makes you wonder how Florida St wasn't in the National Championship hunt.  Three players in the first 14 from the defense?
Terrible fans.
Surprised you haven't jumped on the bandwagon yet.DD > the reason, of course, was Jeff Bowden. And a freshman quarterback never helps.

Todd McShay's updated mock (after the Mario announcement) was pretty close on the top 10. He hit 7 out of 10, getting 5 and 6 backwards, and missing on Bunkley. He had him going to the Bills, which should have been the case.

Tye Hill.

FSU's D was great lsst year. O stunk, though.

LOL Don't tell my girlfriend that. She'll hunt you down... she graduated from there a few years back and is a HUGE fan...Having been subjected to watching FSU games this year, I must say that it is no surprise that FSU defensive guys are being drafted. That is the ONLY reason they made it to the BCS game and an ACC championship. Their offense was absolutely atrocious this year. They'd have been lucky to have gone .500 this year if it weren't for that great defense.

Good, I thought for sure they would have gone with the headcase with Williams. Looked like they were teasing Cromartie on ESPN, actually, which would have been fine. But Tye Hill is more of a "sure thing" and he's got the skills to make an impact right away. Good pick, IMO.

YESSSS. Rams take Hill that means Fins get their choice of Jimmy Williams, Chad Jackson, or Winston Justice, and they can't get stuck with Hill who I'm not high on.

Speaking of terrible fans; the NFL has to screen people going into the draft to see if they are Jets fans. They should not be allowed in this audience ever again.
