We'll follow Radballs earlier model. Once 16 are in we'll begin bidding. Bidding will halt 7 days after it commences and then the first pick will be on the clock.

Draft clock...Everyone will start with an 8 hour clock. The clock will be suspended every day from 1 AM EDT to 5 AM EDT (this means everyone should have 12 hours over night). If your timer expires, you clock time will be cut in half. The guys at the turn don’t get extra time for the second pick. Clock is on during the weekends.

If Norris is here, I need to be in this league......

Ruffrodys are in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ETA: If allowed in only one MBSL league, I choose MBSL2, the cumulative survivor.

In for this one for sure. Would also like to get into the cumulative one, but I don't want to shut out anyone either.

I'm IN for this league if I missed the cut for MBSL2.

ETA: looks like I missed the cut for MBSL2, so I am definitely in for 4.

season starts four weeks from Thursday...we need to get on this.

I propose that bidding for draft positions only last five days as opposed to seven.

Looks like we are at 13 so far:

Radballs,

While we're waiting for three more can you fill us in on how the bidding for draft position will work.

Thanks. :goodposting:

:fishing: yeah, what's that like?
Guys, here's the link to the original initial bidding thread.BDPSL (Bidding for your Draft Position Survivor League) - This is the bidding thread only.

It's harder to explain than it is to just view the thread and see what was going on. But, I'll try. Members of the league will be randomly assigned an initial position in the draft but those are just placeholders. Once the bidding starts, any team can bid on any position at any time. To place a bid, you need to increase the spot's bid that you are moving to by at least .05 points. The person who you displaced with your bid is now switched into your prior position.

Say Bass is at a draft spot 3 with a bid of 1.50 points and I'm at draft spot 10 with a bid of .20 points. If I increase the 3rd spot's bid to 1.55 or higher, I now hold the 3rd spot and Bass is put into the 10 spot with my bid of .20.

To make easier for everyone to see what's going on with the bidding, during the draft you copy or quote the previous post and then insert and bold your changes.

Like I said, please review the bid thread from the link. Also, the way we did that draft was that the bidding wouldn't end until there was no activity/bids for a certain period of time. There may be logistical issues if we try to end the bidding at a specific time (i.e. players could snipe draft spots with last second bids). Just a few thoughts but I would say that we should maybe increase the minimum bid increments to .1 instead of .05 and then reduce the time of zero bid activity to end the bidding session. I think we used 24 or 12 hours which is way too long.

I hope I didn't confuse too many here.

Rad, why don't you suggest some static numbers here since you have the most experience.

I'd suggest increments of .10 points and have the bidding end after 8 hours of no bidding activity with the clock not running from Midnight to 8 AM ET just like the other drafts. IMO, this will still last four to six days. Bass' other suggestion in that draft which made sense was that someone could not bid again until someone else bid after them in order to prevent "bid hopping" (i.e. driving up bids by jumping all over the place). The bidding for this should probably start soon because it will take a bit longer than a normal draft because of the initial bidding session.

What happens if multiple persons don't bid anything?

I like the suggestion to prevent "bid hopping."

I can't see how bid hopping could be legal in the first place. Maybe I missed it, but what would have happened if Pictus Cat had jumped away from 1.1 at the last second, and bid .10 for the 14th pick? Would the #1 pick have reverted to the previous bidder? And what would have happened to their more recent bid on 1.2? It just seems like a terribly confusing idea.

I'm pretty sure I understand this process but how will our bids count against our weekly/final scores?

if you win the 1 slot with a final bid of 10 then 10 points are subtracted from your score each week

I was signed up for MBSL3 but it doesn't look good for that league. If you still need someone over here I can do this instead.

im not in this league but setting an end date for bidding was not how it worked the last time

not sure you want to go that route as you can pull the last second bids ala ebay

edit nevermind i see this is addressed above

DONE!See BDP-MBSL Bidding Thread

Looks like bidding has started in increments of .05 instead of .10...which is different from the change radballs suggested. I don't have a preference one way or the other, just want to clear this up now before there are any issues.
