2007 Rookies vs 2008? (1 Viewer)

Which will be better? I am thinking of stockpiling draft picks next year for my dynasty league.

2007-Peterson, Lynch, Calvin Johnson, Sydny Rice, Jarrett, Ginn, Russell, Quinn, Michael Bush, Brohm, Kenny Irons, Garrett Wolfe, Tony Hunt.

2008-Ray Rice, Steve Slaton, Darren McFadden, Mike hart, Chad Henne, Ian Johnson, Erik Ainge, Jamal Charles, James Davis, Muhammed Massaquoi.

So which set of prospects do you guys think will be better pros and would you have more picks in the 2007 rookie draft or 2008 rookie draft?

It's too early to tell. Unexpected players can and will put themselves on the map for early positions in next year's draft.

I will say that this year's WRs will almost certainly be better than next year's. I think this class is comparable to the great Fitzgerald/Williams/Evans/Clayton class. The guys at the top (Jarrett and Johnson) are beastly, and a number of the other guys have potential to become good players the professional level.

That said, there are some promising WRs in the 2008 mix. A lot of people think highly of Mario Manningham. Andre Caldwell, Lance Leggett, and Patrick Turner were elite high school prospects who could surprise. I like Early Doucet of LSU. Marcus Monk is solid and there are bound to be some smaller school guys who step up.

This year's RBs look weak after the top two. I don't see a Julius Jones or Maurice Drew in this crop. Maybe Pittman or Booker. Maybe.

Next year's RBs don't necessarily look very good either. McFadden and Slaton are my top two right now, but they're not as good as Peterson and Lynch. Rice and Hart are college stars with limited pro potential. Darius Walker? Yawn. Lynell Hamilton has potential, but has been a shell of his former self since getting hurt after his freshman year. The landscape looks bleak, but there's a lot of room for someone to come out of nowhere ala Chris Perry, Larry Johnson, and Joseph Addai.

I don't know much about next year's passers, but I like Erik Ainge. He seems like a good bet to become a solid NFL QB.

Chaos talked about this in another thread. IIRC:

QB: Top guys better this year, more depth next year

RB: Top guys better this year, more depth next year

WR: Top guys and depth better this year

So basically a top 6-8 pick should be good this year, but after that you should be picking up WRs.
