:goodposting:

okay SHUCKS... YOu're right. You're gonna win it all.

Care for a side bet between our two squads? $100 or so to make it interesting? Both send the cash now to Clayton as escrow?

Just for kicks :goodposting:

OK, here is a first cut at some power rankings.

Be sure to read the methodology. This is not an overly sophisticated system. It doesn't properly penalize a team that has a bunch of week 10 byes, for instance. But it does take into account the current state of affairs enough to know that owners of Brady, Burleson, Colston, et al aren't as strong right now as they looked a week ago.
Thanks a lot, Turk. I'm sure the #1 ranking is going to be the kiss of death. Chances I go out this week suddenly tripled.

:excited: Oh-oh!

With the Houston-Baltimore game being moved to week 10 I may be in trouble this week. My WR's this week:

Brandon Marshall

Jerricho Cotchery

Steve Smith - suspended

Derrick Mason - bye

Kevin Walter - bye

Derek Hagan

Should make my team a little stronger week 10 - if I can survive this week. I'll need big games from my RBs.

Is there a way to find my team quickly on the power rankings? I know my 6-digit team number, but the list is mega-long trying to scroll.

:hifive:Virtually same as mine as well, except I have Randle-El instead of Mason.

Yup. Simple as that.In the top 1250--i'll take it.

A lot of teams without Slaton and Rice this week. Could make it interesting.
A lot of teams have those guys, but any team relying on them for points this early in the contest deserves to get eliminated.Of course, now that I've said that, LT won't play because of his injury, Cleveland will have monsoon conditions limiting Parker to 5 yards rushing, Ricky will go out get so high he can't find the stadium and I'll be knocked out because Rice and Slaton weren't there for me.

Thank you. Worked like a champ.Finished week 1 with 113.35 points... a dismal 11,967th place

A power ranking of 2797... a very nice 1630th place

Maybe I can finish in 9,967th place this week?

Luckily I actually have 3 WR's this week: Fitz, DeShaun Jackson & Nate Washington...Nate put up 0 last week. :bag:I only have 3 RB's: Barber, CJ3 & T-JonesI may end up with a TE in the flex if one of the 3 RB's don't have a good game. This cancelled game took out Kevin Walter, Ray Rice, Steve Slaton & Matt Schaub from me. At least I have 3 QB's, so Shaub doesn't hurt.I'll bet the cutoff score is pretty low this week.

I just re-ran the power rankings to take into account the Texans/Ravens situation, and updated projections in general. Probably didn't make much difference.
Yay!I got bumped 90 spots on the power rankings! Now sit at #140. Finished #93 in scoring last week and was wondering why I was initially given a Rodney Dangerfield Power Ranking of #230

Cheers.

I wonder what the highest "uniqueness quotient" team is. I'm at around 4000 which seems like one of the higher ones.

Nice I'm ranked 65th... I have a higher power number, 22.46, and higher WR number, 1091, than any team ahead of me. But my UQ appears to s*ck balls. Watch out boys I'm climbing the charts with a bullet!Rankings

Sol, I think you're reading things wrong. Your power rank is 2963, and what the list is sorted by. Your team's UQ is the 22.46, meaning that it is less unique than anyone in front of you.

If anyone cares, here's what I wrote about the UQ last year. This was in week 11 or 12 I think:

Obviously, uniqueness isn't a virtue unto itself. Given two teams of equal strength, the more unique entry has a greater chance of finishing first, but also a greater chance of finishing last.Just eyeballing things, there does seem to be a slight inverse relationship between uniqueness and strength. That is, the strongest teams are, in general, less unique. I guess that's not surprising. I think I'd rather be a strong non-unique team than a weak unique team. But I'd rather be strong and unique than strong and non-unique. And I'd rather be weak and unique than weak and non-unique.
That inverse relationship I mentioned is not slight in week 1. It's extremely strong. It's almost impossible at this point to be very strong and also unique. I think the UQ becomes a little more interesting at the end of the year. Here's something I wrote last season to a guy with a low power but a unique team:
Your team is an excellent example of the importance of the UQ. Let's take a look...Your RB core is Thomas Jones, Jamal Lewis, and Marshawn Lynch, which is pretty mediocre. The chance that two or all three of those guys will explode down the stretch is pretty slim. BUT, if it happens, you're in great shape. Only two other live entries have Jones and Lewis. Only five others have Lynch and Lewis. Only seven others have Jones and Lynch. None have that exact threesome.By contrast, 80 entries have both McGahee and Adrian Peterson. So if you have Jones and Lewis and they go off, you only have to be better than two other teams at the other positions. Whereas, if you have McGahee and Peterson and they go off, you have to be better than 79 other teams. A randomly-selected team with the latter pair has a very good chance of finishing ahead of you. But you probably have a better chance of winning the grand prize.

OK, here is a little app that lets you find the percent ownership for combinations of players.

For example, here are the teams with Brandon Marshall and Steve Smith.

Survival rate for ALL teams: 95.09 percent

Survival rate for teams with these players: 93.68 percent
1379 entries with Rice, Warner, Slaton, and Ricky Williams. Here are the three teams that managed to get eliminated despite having Anthony Fasano.

Please be aware that there are approximately 35 gajillion features that I'd like to add to this app. I hope that at least some of them will get added at some point, but unfortunately this kind of stuff falls into the category of low priority.

Awesome, thanks! Also, at least from the 1st half of the early games, looks like a cut line may be on the lower side of average this week.

the scoring ap that was posted last week needs to fix the kicker scoring....

Kicker Scoring (PK)

Field Goal Made (0-29 yards) = 3 points

Field Goal Made (30-39 yards) = 4 points

Field Goal Made (40-49 yards) = 5 points

Field Goal Made (50+ yards) = 6 points

Jason Hason has 15 points, yet it says only 9 for the 3 field goals.

Also, at least from the 1st half of the early games, looks like a cut line may be on the lower side of average this week.
I hope so - my team could walk comfortably into week three with Eli, Santana, and Megatron blowing up...

If the scoring is anything like it was last week, the final cut should be somewhere around 125-130.
I'll go with the 105-110 range. The BAL HOU delay is going to lower scoring. I could also just be hopeful as I've only got three WR's playing this week.

I think you are correct. Thanks for the clarification.

Time to report in on how everyone is doing this week!

After the day games, I have 191.7, with Winslow to go (straight up) and Romo -41.1.

Easy slide into week 3, Good luck to the other 9999 or so joining me!

 Oh-oh! With the Houston-Baltimore game being moved to week 10 I may be in trouble this week. My WR's this week:Brandon Marshall Jerricho Cotchery Steve Smith - suspendedDerrick Mason - byeKevin Walter - byeDerek Hagan Should make my team a little stronger week 10 - if I can survive this week. I'll need big games from my RBs.
In the clubhouse with 181.6 points thanks to big games from Marshall and Cutler. With Warner, Calvin Johnson & Marshall having huge games this week the cutoff could be higher.

142.55 the hard way (though the app says 142.85, not sure how MJD has 12.0 points)

Still have Romo minus 36.05

and

J Reed minus 10.00

to go.

Hopefully Warner, Fitzgerald and Santana Moss pulled my ugly mess of a team through this week

Rice, Heap and Slaton on the unexpected bye has made this week a little more interesting that I originally had hoped.

-QG

204.5 w/ McNabb to go.

In spite of the big score I'm disappointed in Greg Olsen and hoping that gamble doesn't come back to haunt me!

199.95 + Westbrook(-6.2) to go....looks like I managed to survive the 2 weeks without Smith and 1 week without Marshall....

:grad:
