2008 nfl predictions - post draft (1 Viewer)

Footballguy
Here are my predictions for the new season

AFC East

1. Patriots 14-2 - I believe they will lose a couple, but will own that division for a good while. they have a paddy cake schedule.

2. jets 6-10 - they will be better, but not much better. they will have a better defense, but, yes, their offense will decline. faneca is a big help, but he's getting older.

3. bills 4-12 - i don't think they're a contender at all, but will own the fish and weaker teams, if there are any.

4. dolphins 2-14 - they suck, plain and simple. chad henne will throw 21 picks and 13 td passes at best with that crappy oline. Jake long will be overrated.

AFC North

1. Browns 10-6 - they will be good on both sides, but the tough schedule will limit them a bit. without it, hey could be 13-3.

2. steelers 7-9 - their schedule is extremely brutal. even they will cringe at it. they will not beat the patriots whatsoever, or the browns in cleveland.

3. ravens 5-11 - they have some defense, but no offense. Joe Flacco is a bust in the making.

4. bengals 3-13 - they will suck, and marvin will be fired. i hope cj is gone by the beginning of the damn season!

AFC West

1. chargers 12-4 - a possible super bowl contender.

2. raiders 8-8 - i think they will be better offensively, and they should score more points

3. broncos 6-10 - cutler is way overrated, and the offense stinks. defense will win them games.

4. chiefs 4-12 - another horrible year for them.

AFC South

1. colts 14-2 - they will own everyone except the pats(?) and the browns.

2. jaguars 11-5 - they will be good, no great this season

3. texans 7-9 - their offense is overrated, and their defense is choppy at best.

4. titans 6-10 - will not make the playoffs, sorry titan fans.

NFC North

1. Vikings 9-7 - i just don't trust the pack to win it.

2. packers 7-9 - they will regress, as brett favre is gone, and their defense is declining.

3. lions 5-11 - they suck.

4. bears 1-15 - i think they will be the number one pick in the 2009 draft. good luck chicago.

NFC East

1. eagles 13-3 - i think this could be their year.

2. giants 9-7 - defense is aggresive as hell, but offense is slow but effective.

3. cowboys 7-9 - will see a massive decline this season. (homer pick)

4. redskins 4-12 - they have no true quarterback.

NFC South

1. saints 11-5 - they will be much better than last year or 2006.

2. panthers 7-9 - will be slightly better than last year.

3. bucs 5-11 - all of their quarterbacks suck. they have little defense, or offense.

4. falcons 2-14 - plain garbage. matt ryan=tim couch in my mind.

NFC West

1. seahawks 12-4 - will own this highly crappy division.

2. rams 7-9 - should be good, but not that good.

3. cardinals 5-11 - i hope hey suck, as they're overrated.

4. 49ers 3-13 - they have no offense or defense. they should cut alex smith, and the offense will improve immediately.

what are your predictions?

Adding Stroud, Posluszny and Mckelvin to the defense, and finally getting a legit WR 2, in addition to Edwards and an improved Oline with a full year under their belt, i fully expect the Bills to improve on their 7 wins last year.

Please find me 10 wins on the Browns schedule.

I'm interested to hear about how the Green Bay defense is declining.
i meant slightly declined. but still, losing corey williams is a huge hole to fill.plus, i don't see aaron rodgers lighting up the scoreboard at all.
You're a Browns fan I see. Corey Williams is a huge hole to fill....that's pretty funny. You're overvaluing him as much as your organization now. Thanks for giving us Brian Brohm. I'll take it.

Titans pass Defense will be the top-3 in the AFC. They will go 9-7 but miss the playoffs.

It doesn'y mean we will beat the colts. it means that it'll be a close one. the colts will not blow us out, not with their defense.i could se 60-85 points easily with both having tortoise-slow defenses, and high powered offenses.

3. bucs 5-11 - all of their quarterbacks suck. they have little defense, or offense. 4-12

4. falcons 2-14 - plain garbage. matt ryan=tim couch in my mind. 2-14

NFC West

1. seahawks 12-4 - will own this highly crappy division. 8-8

2. rams 7-9 - should be good, but not that good. 10-6 :D

3. cardinals 5-11 - i hope hey suck, as they're overrated. 9-7

4. 49ers 3-13 - they have no offense or defense. they should cut alex smith, and the offense will improve immediately. 6-10

what are your predictions?
how the hell can a team be 5-9 in a 16 game season?this must be the 70's :(
fixed

I will bet ANYTHING that the Bears will win more than 1 game next year. ANYTHING.
let's bet a snickers bar!sike!let's bet points.250 over/under.
Well that's a different bet. The Bears offense will be the worst in the league, I won't argue against that. But saying they will only win 1 game is a slap in the face.BTW, interesting to see you join yesterday, are you protecting your real identity?

You're "assuring" a 4-1 start (worst case) for the Browns and maybe 5-0...Care to wager?
you really think dallas is actually impossible to beat? please. you probably said the ame thing about the seahawks, but we beat them in overtime! and anyway, bmore and cincy suck big time ###. the steelers will be average at best.ill wager nothing, because you know dallas sucks! plus, a deadly injury could strike the cowboys in the preseason that could end their season.

Apparently they're better than the Colts now: colts 14-2 - they will own everyone except the pats(?) and the browns.blind homerism at its best.
It doesn'y mean we will beat the colts. it means that it'll be a close one. the colts will not blow us out, not with their defense.i could se 60-85 points easily with both having tortoise-slow defenses, and high powered offenses.
Maybe I read too much into it but you have the Colts with two losses and you said they would "own everyone except the pats(?) and the browns."

the browns are quite capable of beating indy in an upset.okay, footballguys.com, how many think the colts will1. blow us the hell out at HOME\2. lose to the browns3. it is a close, down-to-the-wire shootout?4. browns crush themwhat do you all say, since this one seems to think own=winown= a blowout by 15 or more points.we haven't been blown out by manning's colts since we've returned. even the 1999 team lost on a last-second colts field goal, and that team looks worse than the dolphins of last year.

I noticed you joined yesterday but I wasn't aware you were born yesterday.

It's tough to find much I actually agree with in your post.

Here are a few of the lowlites:

- Chad Henne might start a handful of games late in the season. Certainly not enough to throw 13 td's & 21 ints.

- The Ravens D will win them 5 games in the AFC (brutal schedule) but the bears D will only win them 1 game against the likes of Min, GB, Det x2 and Hou, Stl, Atl, Car. The bears Defense could play both ways against that schedule and win more than 1 game.

- The Titans went 10 - 6 last year. I don't see anything in their off season moves or 08 schedule to make me believe they got worse by 4 wins. They may not make the playoffs in the ultra competitive AFC but they are at least a .500 team.

- The Rams 7 - 9? Chris Long is going to have to make a hell of a lot of plays. They made virtually no impact moves this offseason.

- Clearly you are high on the Eagles. Good off season moves, Samuel will help their weak pass D but not enough to give them 13 wins. Especially in the NFC East. I hate Dallas with a passion but I have no reason to believe they end up as a sub .500 team. The Skins had "no true QB" last season and managed to win 9 games. Campbell will only get better with last years expereince.

- Brief comment on your analysis on my team, The 49ers may not be a playoff contender this season but with the minor upgrades at WR and the added experience of last year's 1st round picks (Willis & Staley) I would expect improvement. Smith is no pro bowl QB but you don't cut the guy after 3 seasons. Nolan is doing the right thing. Expect to see moderate improvements over last season. I'd predict a 7-9 season.

I think your expectations are a tad unrealistic. I think it'll take a few breaks along the way but it is possible to get 10. I never thought 10 wins last year would have been possible either though.

Could get one against Pitt. They are still the team to beat in the AFC North until proven otherwise.

Should take both against Baltimore. I would have said one prior to McNair's retirement

Could see both against Cinci

Washington, Denver, Buffalo, Houston, and Tennessee are all winable games. Not a lock by no means, but winable.

That makes 10 by my count. As a fan I am trying to temper my optimism a bit, but I think it's possible.

ETA I would go with 8-8. I think we'll be a better team but this is a pretty tough schedule. I think 10-6 is possible but unlikely.

Here are my predictions for the new season

NFC East

1. eagles 13-3 - i think this could be their year.

2. giants 9-7 - defense is aggresive as hell, but offense is slow but effective.

3. cowboys 7-9 - will see a massive decline this season. (homer pick)

4. redskins 4-12 - they have no true quarterback.
:goodposting: What means this?

Not sure if you're just not sold on Campbell or if you're conjuring up some kind of QB controversy.
campbell sucks!bouman isn't that great, plus he's an old fart

brennan is unproven.
Got it.This is what I get for not reading the entire thread. Nothing like geting  on a Monday.

Here are my predictions for the new season1. Vikings 9-7 - i just don't trust the pack to win it.
Doesn't a team have to score points to win?
i agree, but i doubt aaron rodgers can replace brett favre well. favre is a lock for the HOF while rodgers is basically starting his first season ever. plus, the vikes don't need to score, as they have ap, and a great defense against both the run and pass.

Defending Super Bowl Champ NY Giants are an assured win on the Browns schedule? The Browns schedule is nearly as tough as Pittsburghs. 9-7 will win the AFCN, 8-8 could win it. I like Pittsburgh or the Browns to win it, but this could be the year where the #4 schedule pays off dividends.

14 games are the same for each of the division teams.Steelers play Patriots and ChargersBrowns play Bills and BroncosBengals play Jets and ChiefsRavens play Dolphins and RaidersIf the Browns can win both of those games, I think the Steelers would need to sweep the Browns again to win the division. Most likely, the Bengals and Ravens will both squander the opportunity that the schedule presents.

Adding Stroud, Posluszny and Mckelvin to the defense, and finally getting a legit WR 2, in addition to Edwards and an improved Oline with a full year under their belt, i fully expect the Bills to improve on their 7 wins last year.
Not to mention that the Bills have the 3rd easiest schedule this year.Even if Mckelvin sucks, he will probably be better than our #2 CB last year. Even if Hardy sucks, he will probably be better than our #2 WR last year.

I don't believe that they will sweep both Cincy and Balt. I could see a 8-8 or even 7-9 season. I don't believe that Anderson is the real deal and Quinn will see action and need time to adjust to the NFL.

I find it interesting that you think NFL teams will lose 60 more games than they win next year. Very interesting.

Quick tip. They will win the same as they lose.
